Summary: would be best to keep this film in the dark
Review: not a huge fan of werewolf movies but i do like The Howling, Wolfen, and Silver Bullet to name a few. but this movie is not that good at all!! obviously it will appeal to some of the younger generation but the movie concentrated on showing to much nudity and not enough well written action scenes. did have a terrible story and was completely predictable. while the werewolf was pretty well made, the movie was just not that good. i know a lot of kane hodder fans will check the film out but don't expect anything great. decent rent at best unfortunately

Review: Reading some of these other reviews, I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people like this movie. It is wretched. It was recommended to me by the clerk at my local video store, who promised me it had "the best transformation effects ever!" She was so wrong, I wish there was a way I could successfully sue her to get my two bucks back. I think she meant to say "worst" f/x ever. And the rest of the movie follows suit. Half the "plot" of the movie only exists to present one nudity-laden scene after another. This is insulting. And I'm male! I like seeing beautiful women naked! But I also like movies to have at least SOME substance to them. I could go on listing reasons why this movie reeks to high heaven, but if you're reading this, chances are you're considering watching it no matter what I say. So go ahead. But you have been warned. Why do so many people like this bomb? And where are their doctors? I just don't get it...

Summary: No Bark...but it sure bites!
Review: Remember the days of good werewolf movies? The Howling, An American Werewolf in London, Silver Bullet, Bad Moon. Being a fan of such horror classics as these, I was enticed to rent Darkwolf.
I don't know which would be worse, encountering a werewolf or watching this film a second time. I would not recommend this film to anyone.
First let us discuss this films lesser qualities. One, the acting was not quite mediocre. Two, the action would slow down to a crawl. Three, and the most terrifying aspect of the film...the CGI! CGI is an art form and for it to work effectively it has move flawlessly with a films action and FX. While the werewolf itself was of slightly higher than amatuer quality the transformation sequences were the most tragic I have viewed. The human to wolf metamorphosis' of the villian and heroine looked like they were rendered by a videogame programmer, not a film CGI expert.
Next we will discuss the films good points...ok, now that thats done...
Darkwolf gets a 1 because thats the lowest rating available. I do not recommend this film.

Summary: A REAL HOWLER
Review: Ryan Alioso, Samaire Armstrong and Tippi Hedren are the only reason I gave this ridiculously lurid and gory movie two stars. The three actors defy all logic by being so good with given so little. As for the dancing babes on the rooftop, why is it that lesbianism is now such a dominant element in so many horror movies. It served no purpose in the film and the switch backs with this ridiculous scene and the murder of one of their friends was so long, I felt like I was in prison with an incommutable sentence. Face it, people. ...

Summary: Great new actress in really cool movie
Review: Samaire Armstrong, now a regular on the Fox television series, "The OC", is hot! In "Darkwolf", she is also hot and naked. By the way, "Darkwolf" is also a really cool movie too. Samaire is fantastic in it and she looks great. Check her out and you won't be sorry. GO SAMAIRE AND GO DARKWOLF!

Summary: More bark, less bite.
Review: Tagline : Under a full moon, true terror begins.

Synopsis : A new breed of horror roams the streets of Los Angeles. It's the Darkwolf, a vicious werewolf with a thirst for blood ~ and a lust for Josie, a sexy, unsuspecting woman with a mysterious power she in only beginning to understand. once the Darkwolf catches Josie's scent, nothing can stop his insatiable hunger to mate with her....and he'll kill anyone who gets in the way!!

Overview : This movie did have some potential but it was lost somewhere along the way. The movie did move smoothly from beginning to end and the story was decent, but the acting suffered and the special effects weren't very special at all. The transformation scenes from human to wolf made me feel I just jumped into an XBOX game as I looked around for my controller. I did enjoy the few scenes were we SEE the wolf and the leftovers it strew behind him but that alone wasn't strong enough to hold this movie together.

Jekyll's Rating : Some people are fans when it comes to the direct to video movies...I suppose I am not one of them. This one gets a 2 star rating from me....get it as cheap as possible if you must.

Summary: Everything about this movie is hot!
Review: The guys are hot. The girls are hot. The scenes are hot. The wolf is hot. Hot, hot, hot...and sexy as hell too. What does anything else matter when everything is so hot? I just watched DarkWolf and going to take a cold shower...or call my boyfriend.

Summary: DarkWolf is an instant classic!
Review: There are certain movies that make their way into film history and become legendary...such as "Halloween" and "Evil Dead." The new Twentieth Century Fox release of DARKWOLF is destined to to join that group. DARKWOLF is one of those films that people will be watching in years to come when they just want to see a good B movie. I rented the film when it was released and after seeing it, wanted to buy it, but Fox had set the price a bit too steep for me. I waited, and now that Fox has reduced the price to a very reasonable amount, I just bought it for my collection. DARKWOLF, like "Halloween" and "Evil Dead" is not meant to be any more than it is. It's a scary and very moody film that's obviously proud of its B movie heritage. The horror film conventions are all present. I'm not quite sure what it is, but there is something about this film that separates it from the onslaught of B Horror films that are released every year. The CGI effects are not great, but maybe that adds to the overall appeal. Actually, the performances by a young cast are quite good, and the lead actress, Sameira Armstrong, can now be seen as a regular on the hit TV show, "The OC." Sameira is wonderful and like Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween, should have a long and successful career.

One thing to note about this film is its Cinematography. DARKWOLF was shot on a new high-definition video process and it looks spectacular. It can hold it's own with any film shot on 35mm film. For this alone, DARKWOLF should be recognized as a pioneer.

Anyway, enough talk...For it's cheap price, go buy DARKWOLF and throw it in your DVD player and enjoy. I'm going to do the same right now.

Summary: I really liked this film and I know werewolfs.
Review: There is a gritty feel and real style to DarkWolf that far surpasses many others of the same genre. I'm sure the director intended this dark, seedy, underground atmosphere that this film embodies. This may be misinterpreted as just being a function of the smaller budget, but I believe that director Richard Friedman knew what he was up to all along. I gave this werewolf a chance, and I'm glad I did.
