Summary: major let down
Review: alright so i saw this movie simply because i like Brendan Fehr and Kerr Smith as actors, but this movie...alright to put it bluntly it [was bad]...it was probably one of the most horrible things i've ever seen. i went ahead and gave it one star because the acting was good despite the movies complete lack of plot. there were random scenes were the actors would be doing something simple and there would suddenly be heavy guitar music, all that did was really confuse everyone who was watching the film with me. about half way through it i decided that i would just consider one of those movies like BATS or Eight Legged Freaks, devoid of any real plot but it made you laugh anyways at how ridiculous it was and unbelieveable.

so if you really must see this movie, go into it thinking that its going to be dumb and perhaps youll enjoy it. you'll laugh, i do guarantee that, but thats about it. If you're into vampire movies see something else like Interview with a Vampire, Dracula 2000, or the Lost Boys, just try and avoid this movie at all costs

Summary: Good little thriller
Review: I caught this on Cinemax recently, and it's a good little film. It's a bit like Near Dark. The characters are likeable which is different from so many recent horror films. There's also a really mean Dodge Charger featured as the bad guys car, and some good special effects.

Summary: Not the Lost Boys, that is for sure!
Review: I needed to add that there is music on this movie that is HOT!

Summary: Not the Lost Boys, that is for sure!
Review: I have watched this VHS. The cover said something to the effect, "Best vampire video since the Lost Boys". I haven't seen that movie recently to compare but all I know is there is a lot of blood gushing, that is the reason why I didn't like it as much.

I didn't see many fangs, which was disappointing for a vampire movie.

Though the two guys that are I think the main characters are great on the eyes!! That is why I gave it a 3.

A friend and I had a hard time figuring out the plot so that got lost in the movie somewhere I think. I would almost have to rewatch the movie to see if i could find the content/context of the movie. With what i have written, I think someone could choose to make their own decision on whether to buy this movie or not because I let my opinion be known and I tried hard not to give any of the story away and it is best to review it for yourself. All I can do is give you my pos/neg impression of it. And you can go from there.

Summary: Road Movie Meets Vampire Hunter a la "Near Dark"
Review: Like his previous film "Outside Ozona," director J.S. Cardone sets his films' background in deserted roads of somewhere in America. And like that older one, the film, though given a good premise with a promising start, falls apiece after a while.

It's about a boy Kerr Smith, who picks up a wrong guy on the road in spite of his better judgement. But this time it's not Rutger Hauer that he picked up; it's Brendan Fehr of TV series "Roswell", who looks like a good-natured hitchhiker, so why not? Of course, he shouldn't have, but not for another reason.

When this unlucky pair (who are both in "Final Destinations") meets creepy Johathon Schaech on the road, the story shows what it wants to be. However, though up until this part the film goes with a good pace, it begins to betray that it has nothing to add more. In fact, this is only a modernized version of "Near Dark" by Kathryn Bigelow, or I should say it wants to be that cult film. But except some (or many) nudity scenes, there is nothing new or original in this one. The idea of vampire virus tranmitted through bite; vampires bursting into flame in the sun; and the vampire leader that leads the vampire pack that prey on the travellers ... please. I didn't like "Near Dark" very much, but it boasted stylish images and terrific Lance Henriksen.

Sorry for my unkind review, but the director has made considerable numbers of works in the past, so I have to be. When you see the shower scene (with blood) of Izabella Miko ("Coyote Ugly") at the flashy opening sequence, and the film won't let her do anything but screaming and tossing and turning after that; when you see an obligatory car-chase scene or blown-up house without any logical development of story, we know there's something definitely wrong with the film.

Summary: WARNING
Review: This movie is over rated here at Amazon!

The movie is nothing but kids stuff... there is no suspense, thriller or horror! There is nothing but topless girls and so much blood. Even the make-up is silly.

It's one of the worst movies I ever saw. If I want to name a list of worst thriller movies, it would go like this:
1. The Forsaken.
2. From Dusk til dawn.
3. Scream (part 3).
4. Blaire Witch Project (part 2).

Be warned..!

Summary: B Movie ... With Just A Little Bite
Review: There are plenty of reasons why some studio movies go straight to video, and THE FORSAKEN -- an interested premise wasted on a second rate production -- demonstrates these amply.

One: poor writing. The dialogue is especially long on exposition and short on exploration. While vampires (cults, families, etc.) have long held a unique fascination in the evolution of our global society at large, THE FORSAKEN seems to ignore or forget all of the mainstays, choosing instead to focus on only the sensuality and the gore. How many times can car chases and gun battles on empty desert highways be unique? The writer/director would have you believe there's plenty of life left in the undead.

Two: poor acting. The principles, especially Kerr Smith, are largely unknowns, and they collectively turn in performances that warrant their staying undiscovered. While they can't be pinned with all of the blame (someone DID have to write this after all), they certainly added little to bringing a spark of life to the film.

Three: poor execution. The direction of the film lacks any recognizeable synergy. While the two leads (Young Male Lead A is a car driver who just happens to help out Young Male Lead B by offering him a ride, little does he know that Young Male Lead B is hunting a vampire across the American Southwest) hit their marks, grimace when called upon, and fire their weapons, the director stages the situations almost with an eye to remind the audience of previous vampire films.

Of course, this is not to say that THE FORSAKEN is a failure. On the contrary, it set up a premise regarding a new layer to the vampire existence, and it followed it through to the bitter, explosive ending. However, toning down the gore and turning the film into the pilot for a television series might've lifted the some of the situations from the preposterous to the plausible.

Besides, there's still plenty of bite in any good vampire story ...

Summary: Makes me wanna buy the whole Buffy DVD series
Review: After watching the horrible Queen of The Dammed & not been over swept by the Buffy vampire phenomena I found this movie to be a refreshing breath of the imagination air.
I know next to nothing about the mythology & untrue fantasy of vampires but watching this film I almost got sucked in to believing in vampires like I was when I younger watching the X Files & believing in aliens. But now I'm mature and don't really believe in anything except maybe nihilism & materialism.
Speaking of which there are references to that in Nick's character (Brendan Fehr) in the diner scene when he was complaining about life, Bill Gates making too much money, Monica Lewinski making $ of Bill Clinton & some other great philosophical insights.
One of the deleted scenes on the DVD, where the blonde Megan Izabella Miko) confronts the evil head vampire Kit (Johnathon Schaech) I thought should have been on the movie. It featured some great powerful acting on Miko's behalf.
I really don't feel this movie should be classified as a b-movie. It feels like a classy & expensive movie, especially in the flashback/memory scenes cutting back to the vampire disease.
The only weak thing about the film is the ending. While good enough, I thought it was a bit anti-climatic. I think the 1st 75% of the film is as good as I would expect from a modern day vampire road movie (a genre that is quite original). The pace & rhythm of the movie was fantastic, just lost it's run @ the end, but hey nothing's perfect. You do empathise with the characters though. Maybe a shock Se7ven David Fincher surprise unhappy ending might have made it better as a whole.
The greatest part of the movie for me was it really reminded me of my beloved The X Files series. The way they kept on referring to the vampires as a virus & the use of drugs was great. If Buffy is any good as this (having not watched any episodes of it) I'm sure I will be a dedicated fan. Finally I'd like to say this film is wonderfully written, scripted & acted.
PS
I just wish they told us more about why the vampires were cold blooded killers. A reason why they wanted eternal life & why they killed people for @ all costs & with no conscience would have been very very interesting.
PPS
The gore is this movies was fantastic, keep it up!!!

Summary: Boring and unisnpired
Review: This may well be a B movie, a collection of movies that I normally love to death but this one was terrible. I wanted to turn it off halfway through, but stayed around to see the predictable ending. I'm just glad I only wasted money renting and not buying this one.

Summary: Forsaken is the best
Review: when i first saw the movie i was in love with it. It was the greatest movie i have ever seen and this is a movie i can watch over and over again i hope they make a second one. Bredan and Kerr were great. This movie kept us holding on waiting to see what happens. It was a good thrill and suspence. I must say this is a five star movie with out a doubt.
