Summary: "Did You Hear The One About The Guy...."
Review: Urban Legend was just one of the many teen imitators that splashed across the screen in the wake of the enormously successful "Scream". It is one of those films riding on the coattails of "Scream". It's one of the few that succeeds. So, what is this latest entry in teen terror all about?. In all actuality, this isn't a bad film, and it's idea is quite fun and interesting. The film is set at Pendleton college, which I believe is set somewhere in New England. A group of students are being stalked by a murderous psychopath who wears a giant parka(oooh!! scary!!), and kills people by way of re-enacting urban legends. It's actually a fun idea for a little, innocent teen thriller, and the idea is handled pretty well in this film. Some of the urban legends represented in the film are quite well known, while others I, and others I would presume, have probably never heard of. Urban Legend is a great looking film. The cinematography and direction is superb. It has a great, colorful look to it. The cast, while nothing great, was fine. Alicia Witt, as heroine Natalie, isn't a convincing Scream Queen, but she tries her best. She isn't even the typical heroine looking type. The real standout was Loretta Devine as Security Guard Reese. She was really good. Other faces here include "Dawson's Creek" star Joshua Jackson, sporting a blonde goatee and hair, Tara Reid, Jared Leto, who is now simply known as Cameron Diaz's ex, veteran horror actor Brad Douriff, "Baron Munchausen" himself John Neville, Natasha Gregson Wagner(who appears in the film's fun opening teaser), future "Smallville" star, Michael Rosenbaum, and Danielle Harris, who fright fans will know as little Jamie Lloyd in "Halloween 4" and the inferior, "Halloween 5". She has definitley grown up. It's always a great pleasure to see one of the kings of horror, Robert Englund. His appearence as a professor, was much appreciated, but, sadly, way too short. The film has some solid scares and suspense. I was pleasantly surprised. While there were disappointing parts of the film that seemed too much of a "Scream" rip-off, the film is mostly it's own thing. It's a fun, quiet little film. Urban Legend is a guilty pleasure that definitley entertains. Give it a chance. Skip the sequel.

Summary: One of the true modern day horror classics
Review: I watched this movie with rather low expectations. To be totally honest, I expected something of the "Scream" genre... a not so scary movie with a bunch of "pretty white kids with problems" running around, having sex, and eventually getting offed by some superhuman psycho. Boy, was I surprised!

This has got to be one of the most imaginative horror films I've ever seen. The premise of the film is great and the movie itself is well written. This is not your typical horror film.

On a side note, I have to disagree with the reviewer who said that previous knowledge of urban legends ruins the movie. I've followed urban legends ever since I learned how to read. I knew about most (if not all) of the urban legends that were used in the film. It didn't ruin it for me.

Summary: Smart and Scary
Review: This movie was so good and it is yet another movie that got bad reviews that it didn't desreve.I thought this movie had a smart plot.Come on people, this is so much more original than some slashers. The acting was very good.Alcia Witt was a very wise choice as the lead.what I espesially loved about Urban Legend is,I honestly didn't know who the killer was until they revealed it.Most slasher flicks you can guess and be correct within the first 30 minutes of the movie. It had very smart plot twists that you couldn't see from a mile off. This movie was brilliant.I think people need to wake up and realize what a great movie this is.A must see for all horror film buffs.

Summary: Finally, a teen suspense film, since Scream, that's good!
Review: URBAN LEGEND is the horrific story of college teens who are stalked by a masked killer dressed in a parka. One young woman, Natalie, is the killer's main target, after a disturbing incident involving Natalie and a young man's death. Kill by kill based on Urban Legends, no one believes her story of why her friends are dying. So she, her friend Brenda, and her new male interest- Paul (Jared Leto), run for their lives- and also try to uncover who is behind the mask.

MY REVIEW:

"Highly entertaining! A new twist in teen suspense! URBAN LEGEND, like SCREAM, is a fun, shocking thriller that will keep you guessing by the minute! This film is a guaranteed FUN ride of excitment! URBAN LEGEND stars: Alicia Witt, Jared Leto, Rebecca Gayheart, Tara Reid (American Pie, American Pie II), Joshua Jackson (Scream 2, Mighty Ducks Trilogy, Dawson's Creek) and Loretta Divine. Skip the sequel- URBAN LEGEND: FINAL CUT, and head straight for the original! It is a great 'Teen Slasher Film' flick to catch!" MJV & the Movies.

Summary: Skip it.
Review: Despite having an overload of horror veterans--Brad Dourif, who was the voice of Chucky in all 4 Child's Play movies, Robert Englund who played Freddy Krueger for every Nightmare on Elm Street movie and Danielle Harris who played Michael Myer's niece Jamie in Halloween 4 & 5--Urban Legend still fails to be innovative, entertaining or even the slightest bit interesting. The movie plods along with a very loose plot and uninteresting, boring characters. Urban Legend had a pretty good premise: a slasher who kills his victims in the form of Urban Legends, hence the title. However the idea is treated very sloppily and the movie is hardly worth seeing. One star for good music and good horror vets.

Summary: Really cool movie !!!
Review: I really love this movie !!! I've seen it about 100 times and I still love it. Some people says that this movie is too similar with scream and I can understand it ... But the story is different. The idea is really original, killing people based on urban legends .... What I really liked in this movie, is that at a certain time, you don't know what to think anymore, who's guilty ??? but ok, it also happen in scream... The best part, is when the killer totally freaks out near the end of the movie .. Just have a look at the killer's eyes and you'll see what I mean. This one is much better than "Urban legends 2" which is not that good but quite cool ....

Summary: THE TITLE IS URBAN LEGEND,
Review: AND THAT'S HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO THINK GOING INTO THIS MOVIE, IT IS AN URBAN LEGEND HANDED DOWN FROM SCHOOL TO SCHOOL, TEEN TO TEEN AND SO ON AND SO ON. I THINK IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE. ALICIA WITT WAS VERY GOOD IN THIS MOVIE. AND SO WAS REBECCA GAYHEART. IT WAS A FUN, SLIGHTLY SCARY MOVIE. I MUST ADMIT SOME PARTS ARE CORNY AND JUST DON'T CLICK, BUT GOING BACK TO THE TITLE THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO.

Summary: Not Enough Of Tara Reid Or Alicia Witt
Review: Typical slasher movie where the villain has supernatural strength, easy access to weapons, rooms, vehicles, and disguises AND YET at the end is clearly not a supernatural demon but merely a psycho. Notice how the diminutive killer can overpower victims who should at least match the killer in strength. Wonder how the killer magically appears in cars, trucks, rooms and buildings. Marvel how the killer has the time after killing several innocents to set up an elaborate urban legend for the "final victim." Gasp as one by one like lambs to the slaughter victims either ignore the stuttered warnings of an observer, leave a party to go to a deserted building, run away from clean well-lighted crowded places in favor of dark, deserted rooms or forest. We've never expected victims to do rational things but come on... I have to admit the only reason I'd see this thing again is Alicia Witt and Tara Reid, but Tara's role is too small (although her dress isn't) and Alicia's not shown at her goddess-like best. See this for its horror? Horrors!

Summary: An imitation of other horror movies!
Review: Although I really liked Urban Legend, its just an imitation of other horror movies! It is kind of similar to Scream 2. But I'm not sure if I have ever seen such a good opening scene (Except for maybe in Scream). It was awesome! The actors are pretty good, but the ending was pretty expected. If you like horror movies you should definitely see it!

Summary: fun movie
Review: it's so annoying to hear or read reviews about how 'unrealistic' this movie is and so on...it's supposed to be an URBAN LEGEND! it's not supposed to be realistic because that's not how it happened. watch the end and you realize that perfectly. as far as someone figuring out the killer after 15 minutes...i'd like to know how, no one i know had a clue at all about who the killer was. and we're college students, we're not that stupid or anything. i really enjoyed this movie, but what got it four stars was the commentary...it was so enlighting and very funny, i always watch it with the commentary on anymore because it is so much fun. of course the deaths are going to be predecitible, they're urban legends...we've all heard them but that doesn't make it dull. i thought there were several times when the deaths were done in creative variations of the origianl ULs. this isn't a groundbreaking movie or anything but if you enjoy teen horror movies i think you'll enjoy this movie plenty.
