Summary: not another teen horror flick
Review: Soul Survivors requires its audiences to pay attention and think about the plot. The night before going to college, after attending a party, Cassie and her friends are involved in a terrible car accident that kills her boyfriend and requires her to undergo surgery. At college, Cassie hallucinates about people she saw at the party and seeing her boyfriend around campus as well. But .... what exactly is reality and what is hallucination? The plot twists and turns and makes you wonder exactly who survived the car accident and who didn't. You have to piece everything together with Cassie as she figures out what happened.

Summary: Why waste your money.
Review: I don't know what is wrong with most films made these days. I went into seeing this movie open-minded and ended up being greatly disappointed. I would rather watch I Still Know What You Did Last Summer 40 times over that see this again. Thankfully it's only 80 minutes long. My main concern is that why did Wes Bentley go do this after being in a great movie, American Beauty? Why did he make such a great step down/downgrade? Oh well, I guess his career will end up being as bad as Casey Affleck's.

Summary: Spectacularly bad
Review: I will attempt to list the good elements of this film. 1) Eliza Dushku 2) Eliza Dushku's wardrobe I think that's about it. This allegedly scary horror film makes absolutely no sense, and makes no sense on so many awful levels. The film is best enjoyed by examining the various acting techniques employed by the actors involved. One can assume that Wes Bentley's omnipresent flask of liquor in the film was not a stylistic affectation but a coping device used to get him through the shoot. Eliza Dushku decided to give up and just rely on the tried and true stock character Bad Girl With Lesbian Tendencies. Casey Affleck speaks so softly this entire film that it's likely he was hoping the dialogue wouldn't be picked up, and the dialogue could be redubbed with a less wispy voiced actor. Luke Wilson's scenes were probably shot surreptiously, Bowfinger-style, while he was taking breaks on the set of The Royal Tenenbaums. Melissa Sagemiller seems to have realized halfway through the shoot that her career isn't exactly going to be helped by this atrocity, so she cries, and often. There's a scary masked killer running around with his large Native American buddy. And so on and so forth, for a very lengthy 84 minutes. ... However I highly recommend the procurement of movie stills of the lovely Eliza Dushku in one of her form-fitting outfits. She's remarkably gorgeous here, which is sadly not enough to save the film in any way, shape, or form.

Summary: Soul Survivors -- Popkorn Junkie's (and my) review
Review: I was wondering why there wasn't much advertising for this movie when it came to the theaters. Did you see any T.V. commercials or any previews for "Soul Survivors"? Well, if you think back a while, maybe you will remember seeing previews....like maybe a year ago. Apparently this movie's theatrical release date was pushed back a bit (to say the least-- it was originally set to open in September of 2000!) which normally isn't a good sign...and in this case, I should have taken the hint and skipped this movie. Here's a little bit of plot: A group of kids, Cassie, Annabel, Matt, and Sean are going away to college. Cassie and Sean are a couple, Annabel and Matt are a couple, and Cassie and Matt used to be a couple but broke up-- and still, they are all best friends, how sweet! Anyway, once they arrive at school they go to a frat party, Sean tells Cassie he loves her, blah, blah, and then they all regroups and go to some club (which is actually an old church) in the middle of nowhere for a good ole fashioned rave. Anyway, there's drinking, smooching, dancing, and stalking. The stalking is important but unexplained: two dudes (one old guy with a scarred face and an other guy with some creepy clear mask) keep checking out Cassie and Annabel. The girls don't like the attention and decide to leave after a little while. BUT, before we leave the party for some reason Matt convinces Cassie to kiss him one last time (they broke up and she's dating Sean, remember?) which, of course, Sean witnesses. So, Cassie drives them all home but keeps apologizing to Sean about the kiss and she keeps taking her eyes off the road....see where this is going? They get into a car accident with the two guys from the club that were stalking Cassie and Annabel....what a coincidence. Anyway, Sean dies, and they all go back to school. But Cassie keeps seeing Sean and having visions and nightmares of blood squirting out of her nose and stuff like that. The rest of the movie (and I've only described about the first 10 minutes so far) is a mixture of Cassie freaking out about the "guy from the club" stalking her, flashbacks/nightmares of doctors in an OR trying to drill a hole in her head, and more visions of blood squirting from various parts of her head. The movie was very confusing and half of the time it jumped from one scene to the next without explanation. Maybe the director/writer intended for the audience to be confused just like the main character Cassie...but it sure was annoying to watch. Anyway, at the end of the movie we figure out (mostly) why Cassie had the visions and nightmares but the explanation was pretty weak. I mean, sitting through 2 hours of a painfully confusing and often cheesy movie does not justify the "tricky" ending at all. Do yourself a favor and skip "Soul Survivors".

Review: Compared to other ... horror movie, RAGE CARRIE 2, THIRTEEN GHOSTS, URBAN LEGENDS: Final Cut, this is really good! This is really a mind bender. The writter (and director) had a great story about love, changing and death. Great flick. Saving my money up to get it! This will be in my top 10 out of 50 movie DVD collection, along with Scream trilogy, American Pie, etc.

Review: It is really too bad that 1 star was the lowest rating. This movie doesn't even deserve that. It STINKS. It is a waste of time to watch and a waste of money to rent or buy. It amazes me that people actually liked this stupid movie.
Enough with the ...(sexual preference) garbage that gets force feed to us every chance that these movie people get.

Review: This movie looked good from the trailer but boy that wasn't the case.I know there are alot of bad horror movies out there but this takes the cake.There's nothing good about this movies.The actors are bad,the movie is slow and worst of all it doesn't make any sense and is hard to understand and most of those sex scenes were unnecessary.I gave this movie 1 star the worst rating possible.Save your time and money do not see this movie!What a waste of film.

Summary: "A great psychological thriller!"
Review: I thought this was going to be a slasher flick from seeing the box but I was wrong. But in a good way. the movie really gets you confused and while watching it people might think it is stupid because they don't understand it. i didn't. A day after I watched the movie I understood it and thought it was great. It is a story similar to Romeo & Juliet. The ending and the plot was totally original! GUARENTEED!

Summary: Surprisingly good
Review: A lot has been made already about horror movies post-'Scream', but this movie does surpass expectations. It begins unoriginally, with a girl killing her boyfriend in a car accident after the argued about her 'last kiss' with her ex. After the death though she can't help but keep coming back to that night back at the eerie nightclub and the subsequent car accident and her life begins to fall apart. Okay, so the story at first doesn't seem anything special. However, there's a great deal more than meets the eye. First of all it manages to put its audience on edge without resorting to blood and gore tactics. Even if it never scares, it certainly creates a loaded tension. Secondly, the various dream sequences are genuinely disturbing and really help to give an idea of the hallucinatory hell that the character goes through. Plus there's an efficient cast, including Wes Bentley ('American Beauty') and Eliza Dushku (Faith in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer') although inexplicably these more bankable stars aren't given top billing. Those honours go to Melissa Sagemiller and Casey Affleck (Ben Affleck's brother), who are certainly good enough. Although the movie does steer off course for a while with a contrived scene where the leading ladies get to shower together, it's unoriginal start punctuated with an underlying nastiness make it seem like a wink to its audience. What's most impressive though is its twist, which will make you look back at what's gone on before in a different light. This may not be as constantly innovative and frightening as 'Scream', but it sure does beat most of the other teen horrors out there.
