Summary: Bad Title For This Film
Review: Dont bother thinking the title "Jason Takes Manhatten" will make you think this film is about Jason in New York! The title should have been "Jason Goes To Manhatten...Eventually"!

Jason is yet again back and boards a run down cruise ship with a bunch of teenagers heading on a feild trip to New York...why Jason boarded the ship is anyone's guess? But he does, he does his typical stalking and slashing aboard the ship! Most of the movie takes place on the ship! Then for about the final 10 minutes of the movie a few of the members on the ship have managed to make it to New York alive. And Jason has followed. Its over the top, unbeleivable, the story is stupid and ending will leave you thinking "what a load of ****"!

If your intrested in seeing it, Rent it first if you can? I'd only buy it if it was cheap as chips or wanting the whole F13th collection and needed it for the set! Other wise its just not worth while!

Summary: Jason ends the friday the 13th franchise with gore-less film
Review: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN should have been the last Jason movie ever to be made. This would have been the perfect way for him to die and never ever come back. Well, the movie begins with a Great song with footage from New York in the opening credits and then it cuts back to Crystal Lake. Two people are bought to get it on when the guy tells the Voorhee's story. Jason is at the bottom of the lake because his foe, Tina, the telePATHIC girl from the previous entry supposedly killed him. Wel, Jason gets goosed by an electrical cord that brings him to life and kill the couple. Jason then goes to a boat headed to New York with a bunch of school kids, and kills students one by one. Kelly Hu gets killed very early and this is the one thing that had me hating this film. Kelly plays Eva Watanabe, and she is the most gorgeous girl in all the Friday the 13th movies. Rob Hedden should be hung at Paramount for not making her have the lead role instead of Jensen Daggett. The male lead was good and he and Kelly would have been good as a couple in this. The deaths are not detailed or graphic because of MPaa rating cuts, but Kane Hodder is the BEST JASON and this is the film that I try to believe was THE VERY, VERY, VERY end of Jason Voorhees.

Summary: NYC cliche
Review: Continuing the myth that NYC is nothing but a den of seedy drug dealers, gang bangers and nasty natives, this film does inject a little humor into the typical slasher fare. I love the scene on the rooftop between Jason and the boxer. "Take your best shot," and BAM Jason knocks his block right off and into a garbage can! Keep an eye out for future X-Men Kelly Hu (Lady Deathstrike) as a coke-snorting high school snob! Too funny.

Summary: I Love New York but, I ain't taking this "Manhattan"
Review: The Fat Lady has sung, people. Its over. The End. Ka-put. Throw in the towel. This eighth film to the "Friday" movies is the first of three horrible, stupid, worthless, and useless sequels in film history. After being revived by an electrical cable Jason rises up from his grave,... again, to dispatch a group of high school graduates on a ship that is heading for New York City. The last half hour of the film is spent in N.Y.C. but, you would never know it with all of the crack alleys, and sewer tunnels that are shown.

The DVD is worthless. The movie sucks & there are no special features. Why buy it, let alone rent it?!?!

The only redeeming value is an all to brief gag with Jason's mask and a couple thugs who try to mug him and the film also marks the big screen debut of Kelly Hu (she would go on to star in "The Scorpion King" and as the mutant villian Lady Deathstrike in "X2: X Men United"). But, mostly avoid this film like the West Nile Virus.

Summary: Good and Silly
Review: This film marks the deviation from the old school cut em up films in the series as it features more "dark humor". Jason punches a person's head off....very stupid but if you dont laugh your NOT a fan of the series. Its hokey at times but is supposed to be...this one warrants cheap guffaws and sports Kelly Hu of Scorpion King in her first role.

Summary: School is out! Machullough!
Review: This movie was not only the best jason movie ever, it was the best movie made, period! why wasn't this movie given an oscar?! The guy who made the move was Julius. His real name is V.C. Dupree. Who could make up this stuff? His catch phrases are award winning. When he drops his infamous line, School, is out Machullough! my eyes teared up. it was incredible. But his best line had to be the part when they were picking out the weapons. The nerd guy with the glasses asks julius which weapon he'll take to fight off jason. And Julius, being an undefeated boxer replies " Nothing..............But this Gun!" Outstanding! this man is unbelieveable.! and he's the only one who figured out that u can defeat jason just be simply boxing him! wow! who wouldn've known? bullets aren't the answer, fists are!. i love u Julius. Thank u for giving him the greatest death in american history also. loved the movie! loved jason! loved V.C. Dupree. A must own!!!!
P.S. The crazy ole man that says, this ship is doomed, and you're all gonna die, has to be the best supporting actor. without his performance, this movie would not have shined as well as it did.

Summary: Jason takes a bite out of the Big Apple.
Review: Perhaps one of the most hated installments in the series, this one marks Jason's last outing with Paramount Pictures, in which he hitches a ride on a cruise ship heading to New York City (of course!). Aboard this ship he stalks, what else, freshly graduating, horny teenagers! Big disappointment though, the series wasn't receiving much love from the MPAA at this point, so the gore is heavily neutered and most of the killings occur off-screen. Which is a shame because there was potential for some memorable moments (I particularily liked the sauna scene). The actors are actually pretty good with some sympathetic leads -- Although it is kind of odd that half way through the movie, 2/3 of the boat's population disappears (don't blame it on J). There are some crummy inconsistencies and errors sprinkled about (look at the sprinklers raining down over Jason!) and totally unrealistic situations presented (how hard can it be to lose someone in New York City?). But hey, this movie did educate me a little bit. I had no idea that the sewers of New York filled up with toxic waste every night at midnight that has the power to transform menacing slashers into frail little boys. Pretty interesting. But all criticism aside, the movie is at least a nice little diversion from the usual formula, even if we only get to see Manhattan for thirty minutes. Obviously the series was on it's last leg by the time this rolled around, but it's still entertaining for what it is. Paramount absolutely hates this series, so you know what that means? Not a single extra to be found on here. Nope. No trailer, not even a teaser. Nothing. Just an average film transfer.

Summary: Fun stuff
Review: It's really not as bad as most people say it is. The problem is that there aren't many bloody kills, so if you came looking for the red stuff, look elsewhere. But, the film does have some painful kills (the sauna scene... ouch!) and the acting is quite good for a Friday film. The directing is decent; in fact, the whole thing is competently made. Why many people hate this is cos of the title, which mislead many people and ultimately pissed them off; Jason's in New York for the last 20 minutes. Booooo! But the New York scenes are a friggin' riot!!! Believe me, this movie's a good time, nothing more, nothing less. The DVD, however, suck; NO special features!! NOTHING!!! Oh well... Give JTM a watch, it's a fun little slasher with hilarious New York scenes.
