Review: I guess Jason Voorhees got tired of the old country and decided to hack some flesh urban style and none other than in the famous New York City. That is practically what the movie centers around, but most of the movie takes place in a boat! This is where character development sets in and most of them are the same type of horror movie white trash (not including that black boxer dude that later gets decapitatied by a vicious right hook from Jason Voorhees) most of them not very appealing. Especially that rock star chick that really got on my nerves, perhaps yours as well. Anywho, routine kicks in. Two teens makin' out in the beginning, a chinese character starts to take drugs from a result of common pier pressure until the teacher steps in. You might not agree with me, but the only character worth paying attention to is the teacher. He is believable, trying to hold the teens together when disaster starts. Of course he is a little snotty with the kids and their rules, but this is also believable for him. It is humorous when the girl, one of his rambunctous students, tempts him for love. He cant resist for some of the time, but gets off as he remembers his job and duty as a teacher. He soon realizes a nerdy as hell director tapes it! This teacher is later on defined as a sicko when you discover that how he made the redhead afraid of water. I saw that same teacher on an episode of "Three's Company" one time. There are not very many good actors on Friday the 13th flicks, only Corey Fieldman and that nerd from "Back to the future" which were both on number 4. Corey also had a small appearance in number 5. Back to Manhattan. Well one cool add in was that Stephen King( writer like myself )takes a stab at Jason. You would have to see it ta find out what I mean. The deaths are lame as ever I can make a few exceptions, but the point is, Jason barely ever uses a weapon like an ax or a machete. He offs the captain rather silently. The rule is, captain always dies, see Jaws. Well there is a large killcount, I can give it that. But Jason seems supernatural in this film which is not common. He often appears in different places and survives a hell of a lot. This makes his character less believable than the annoying rock star chick. When the slim characters "finally" arrive New York City, it gets more exciting, but still kind of ridiculas. The only filmaking part that I thought was well designed was that the director set up the audience for New York. You see, in the beginning, it showed places the characters would later be concerned with. That was a cool way to distribute, I sometimes do that in my writing. I guess that is what the boat was used for. Well, there are bizzare deaths that take place in the city, some of them laughable. I wont say anything about Jason's demise, see that for yourself. In all, it was entertaining to me, I guess only because I wanted to see him elsewhere than the country. It was longer than most of the others. Too bad the dog had to live. I personally thought the song for that movie wasnt half bad, had an average tune. It was played in the beginning, and the ending credits. Of course there are many, many cons for this movie, see it. It isnt a waste.

Review: Who knew that Crystal Lake in Ohio, drained into the Atlantic Ocean? I sure didn't! Too bad the writing is bad and the gore is missing thanks to the Motion Picture Association of America. At least its not Urban Scream Last Summer.

Review: im tired of all those same plots at " Crystal Lake " this was different a nice change. The movie had great music and had the clasic CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA thats a clasic jason movie. Review: This movie is the worst of the Friday the thirteen series, but he's very good! The movie is not at Crystal Lake!! It's happen on a boat, and at New-York for the final. But still a great movie.

Summary: Good old fashioned horror at it's best.
Review: When you watch a Friday the 13th movie, do you watch it to be intellectually stimulated? If so, then you have problems. And I think a lot of reviewers on here have some serious problems. Jason Takes Manhattan is pure entertainment. The goriest scenes possible (most parts were edited due to the extreme violence) make this movie worth while. Hell, we even get a fair bit of nudity! My only complaint is that in every single Friday movie they always try to connect Jason to some seemingly innocent character, and in this one, the connection is too sloppy. Wow, so he tried to pull her into a lake, is that any motivation to try to kill her 10 years later? But at any rate, I love this movie. Even though it doesn't really take place in Manhattan, the cruise ship makes a very good setting for a horror movie. I think for the 8th installment of a series that started 9 years earlier, they did pretty damn good.

Summary: Jason Takes on the MPAA, holds his own but fans suffer
Review: Many fans believe this is the worst instalment of the series. i belive that that title goes to part 5 the new beginning. This movie is not spectacular but is enjoyable. It is fun and even a bit humerous at times. Is it scary, not by a long shot. Is their suspense, not realy. By this time in the series we are all rooting for the man behind the mask. We are given a varied cast of characters but most are simply foder for Kane Hodder, and we love him for eviserating the lot. We get tried and true stapels like the tough black guy, the mega slut, the virgin heroin and her nice guy boyfriend, and the mega jerk athourity figure. On the new side we get away from the camp and get out on the high seas. It seems laughable but in actualy works well. Its even more isolated than the camp, and had this movie not been the 8th of the series it might have been actualy scary. Unfortunetly we only get to see our hockey masked friend in the big apple for only about 20 minuets. As far as acting goes, well, its not bad. Kane Hodder steals the show though. He is simply Jason. No one can play this character better than Kane. He should have gotten a award for doing so much with a character that doesnt speak and acts pretty nosensicly. Jensen Dagget is eye candy, but she stays covered up. Thankfully she can also act, cant say the same for some of the former friday girls. V.C Dupree may have not made another movie after this but his potrayal of the tough talking boxer Julious is great. In the end the only horrible thing about this movie is the fact that every one of the killings is basicly bloodless and goredeprived. Those hypocritical useless slugs known as the MPAA slaughetered this movie's potential. The most creative kill ends up being the hot sauna rock in the chest. Hopefully these wastes of space will leave Jason X alone. In the end this movie is kinda doupy but is a good bit of fun. If your a fan, you've already seen it, if your not give it a try.

You'll remeber this one, no matter how hard you may try to forget it.

Review: It just doesnt matter were jason is. crystal lake or new york city. he will not hesitate to KILL. and jason proved that in Friday The 13th Part 8 Jason Takes Manhattan. this film was a great adventure. you will have a good time following jason from crystal lake to nyc on a super huge killing spree. he will never show remourse . instead he will show you your own INSIDES!! on this night , forget the thugs, you have JASON to worry about. this film is a fun adventure when following jason on his journey in your own living room.this movie is a real PUNCH!!!lol...you will get THAT one after you see the big fight , you will know it when you see it.might not be the best horror film but very much enjoyable.

Review: With me being a semi "Friday the 13th" fan, I was optomisstic about seeing this movie when I rented it. (The new 5 day rental is conveniant!) I watched the movie and I said: "I just wasted an hour and 45 minutes of my life" and I decided I'd go to my local church and confess to my priest about my sins from watching this movie. Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad, but this being an installment in the "Friday" series I would expect a movie that would be at least average. The series was all ready lacking and needed a new turn or twist to gain more interest from the public, but that didn't happen as once again the nefarious Jason Vorhees slashes away. The movie takes place on a boat. A boat!! And oddly enough the movie seems to carry it self with the fact that Jason just can't reach his true target even when there on a freakin boat in the middle of nowhere. So of course he just kill's other people. The plot was boring because the series all ready did this hide and seek game. Though I did like some of it when they finally reached Manhatten because now I could say that the people running from Jason deserved to die because of them wanting to go to a place like Manhatten. In conclusion, die hard fans of the series will enjoy this one just because they like every other movie of this series. Normal horror movie buffs will not be impressed. Summary: A different Jason = the Big Apple
Review: For those of you out there who are curious enough or are die-hard fans of the Friday the 13th series, you are best served to bypass this seventh sequel to the original starring Betsy Palmer.

Although renowned critic Leonard Maltin regards this movie to be the best of the Friday slasher movies, he misses the entire point of the Friday the 13th saga, so have the people who created this movie: All of the homicides took place in and around Crystal Lake as a means of teaching libidious teen counselors a lesson about diligence to responsibility.

What Part VIII delivers is a revived Jason haunting teenage students on a Big Apple-bound cruise ship. He is particularly drawn to a hydrophobic girl. He encounters her as the child-Jason on two different occassions-One when the girl was a child being taught how to swim by her strict, almost cruel uncle, now principal and the other in the present while she's sitting in her cabin. Jason and this girl have one thing in common, a definite fear of water.

This alone could have been an interesting plot device, if the makers of the movie would have added depth. The audience could have seen a new dimension to the Jason character, maybe even empathizing with her and her with him. I don't mean to suggest they would develop a loving relationship, particularly on the girl's part. At least, however, Jason would be perceived as more than a mindless killing machine.

This movie does feature Jason having a minor addition to his personality, however. In two scenes, Jason develops a sense of humor: The high school boxer who exhausted all his efforts to defeat the hulking Jason tells the hockey-masked killer to give him his best shot and moments later, the boxer's head is sent flying; a gang of punks accost Jason, but when he raises his mask, the punks disburst in different directions.

Where did Jason get this sense of humor? The only time, he spends around people is when he's ready to send them into another state of being. Maybe, he harnessed this new characteristic as a means of dealing with all the times he's been "killed" off just to be revived by lightning, by psychic powers and by suspension of disbelief (Hey, I know, no matter how many people I kill, the virgin and/or her boyfriend or her father will kill me, just so I will come back later, I would have to laugh at this bizarre twist of karma).

Despite the so-called leap into making Jason more human-like, the inevitable question arises, what's the purpose of this film? You take a fish out of water, sorry Jason, and you put him in Manhattan for a few precious moments. Why? What does New York have to do with Jason's animosity for overly-sexed camp counselors? None. I believe, I might be wrong, the most telling sigh of what the purpose of this film is comes from the mouths of the characters themselves. In one scene, the hydrophobic girl and her male friend, he might have been her boyfriend but it's been six years since I've seen this film, are running away from Jason when they encounter a New Yorker. The heroes scream, and I'm paraphrasing, someone's trying to kill them... A New Yorker chimes in... "Welcome to New York." The movie makers want to compare a mindless, though partially funny, psychotic killer to a crass, thoroughly compassionless city.

Though I'm not a New Yorker, I find this connection to be disheartening and tasteless. I hope the next time, and there always seem to be a next time, the film makers decide to create a Friday movie, they will, at least try to stay true to the series and save the humor for the comedians.

Review: I've seen Friday the 13th Part VIII at the theaters awhile back and it was one of Jason's best! In New York, Jason slashes school students in one of the biggest bouts in New York. Jason kills most of the students but one or more lives. Jason dies and heads on towards the 9th Jason flick, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday the 13th, that after Friday the 13th Part X shall be released as Jason returns to slashes more school students. Seems though that Friday the 13th series shall never get over, it could continue and continue over and over again. I wouldn't care cause I love the Friday the 13th series!
