Summary: Carpenter's Staked a hit!!
Review: Not since "Halloween" or "The Fog" have I enjoyed a John Carpenter film as much as I enjoyed "Vampires". It contains all the Carpenteresque qualities we've come to expect from the director. The tension, suspense, colourful characters and an excellent moody score all blend into a well rounded little chiller. From the incredibly gripping opening to the tension hammered finale, Carpenter knows how to pull you along at breakneck speed and hardly stops for a breather along the way. The movie contains some of the most haunting images of Carpenters career including a creepily, inspired scene where the Vampires rise from their dusty graves that's sure to plaster a gleaming smile on any Zombie enthusiasts face to the Demonic Vampire Master Valek thrashing through the air in wild, rabid pursuit of the Vampire slayers. Of course the wonderfully crisp DVD transfer allows us to enjoy the movie in John Carpenters intended widescreen vision of splendour and it's photogenic desert location delivers some of the most beautifully shot scenes in a carpenter movie. The DVD's commentary by Carpenter is very informative and always humourous but you tend to get the impression that the movie isn't old enough for Carpenter to give an objective view as on his past commentaries for previous movies but I'm knit picking really and there's also a cool theatrical trailer included. Overall all 2 thumbs up to the heavens for this instant Carpenter classic.

Summary: well...ughh...yeah...SLICK!!!
Review: If you don't like this movie, as anyone else does, there is nothing wrong with you. You are probalby are sane, serious person, like 99% of the World's population. But, without admitting that my brain hurts, I realy love this one. John Carpenter back to the roots and to his minimalistic, but so magnificant style. This is a mean macho-movie, sadistic, sexistic... in other words: great. You must buy the DvD and you'll get wonderfull widescreen shots including wonderfull sunrises, a superb sound and a realy treasure: John Carpenter's audio commentary, which is alone worth buying this DvD. "Cheap isn't it, it looks like a crash test dummy out of the closet....well, it is!"

Summary: Silly, but kind of fun . . .
Review: A high-tech vampire flick, directed with flair, and enough gore to fill the ocean. It's mostly cursed, however, by unsympathetic characters and that unfogivable part about the cardinal. Otherwise silly, but John Carpenter makes it fun. Gore misters should get their share here.

Summary: I can't believe I paid retail to see it in theaters!!!
Review: Where to start, where to start... Bad writing and even worse acting. The only good point was the general storyline was interesting, but it was so poorly executed that I can't even give it points for that. My advice...wait till you can see it for free!!!

Summary: SO IT WASN'T ALL-THAT
Review: Okay I couldnt wait to watch the movie so I rented it.... It is an all right movie but why did they have to take a line out of INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE...(now that my friends kicks a**) anyway yes it does, at one part the main mean guy is talking to James Wood and says something to the effect of " He knows of no miracles" something like that... it is basically the same thing Armond says to Luey when Luey asks who is the one who started it all (a.k.a the vampire) and what the meaning to it all is. Of course I will buy this movie when the price goes down... why? you ask? well thats because I'm a "sucker" for vampire flix (get it... sucker.....) All in all everything could have been better but the one thing that could have been improved more is the fact that they kill the vampires to fast, and the vampires kill the humans to fast there is no struggle!!!! It was to easy!!!! Thought I'd share my thoughts but you'll have to judge for yourself.....

Summary: worst movie ever made!!!!
Review: I wish there was a choice for zero stars, or a scale for how much you hate a movie, because this was the worst movie I've ever seen. I wish I turned it offhalf way through because I couldn't stand to watch any more, but I'm just too thrifty. I paid for it and damnit I watched it, painfully. The characters in this film are all mean, brutal, foul people. James Wood's character tortures a mild mannered priest for information, and he's supposed to be the hero! His idiot sidekick (a Baldwin brother) beats up a hooker, treats her like total crap through the whole movie, THEN says he's in love with her and they head for Mexico. The coolest person in the movie was the vampire! I hated all the characters and I wish the vapmires had killed them all. It would have been a lot more entertaining to watch the vampires deliver their own special brand of justice to these psychopath "heros". Save your time and money and don't see this movie.
