Summary: Carpenter at its best
Review: I've seen this movie up to 10 times in cinema. It is quit the best work Carpenter ever did in his life. Forget Christine and Halloween, only Escape from New York comes probably close to it.

The whole movie - pictures, musics and actors, especially James Woods (best act since Once upon a Time in America) and Thomas Ian Griffith as Valek the Master Vampire, make this movie to an outstanding experience. Last but not least - this movie is made for cinema, not to watch it on a 30-Inch-TV !

Summary: A CAMP CLASSIC
Review: If you love movies that are so lame, you love them, then you must see this movie. The acting is god-awful but that's expected from movies this day.

Summary: Ranks Among the Worst
Review: I simply cannot believe this many people can possibly like this movie. I rented the DVD the other night, and simply could not believe how terrible this movie was. Granted, my hopes were not high, but the quality of this movie was just minimal.

Not only does John Carpenter fail to provide any real suspense, the entire screenplay is completely formulaic. The acting, including the performance by James Woods, is simply horrid. By the end I was _hoping_ James Woods would die, not rooting for him, and his character is the protagonist.

I do not give a 1-star rating for no reason, this movie is simply trash. There are many action films and many horror films that do this much better that you can spend your money on.

Summary: Nice Movie, Great Book
Review: Fun movie to watch but to get the whole picture please read the book

Summary: Great Flick
Review: Just thinking about the humor in this movie makes me laugh. James Woods was at his best once again.

Summary: A Modern Westner
Review: Everyone who hates Vampires (and I know many) didn't really understand what this movie is. Carpenter didn't made a horror but a recriation of the real westner (something that no one do since Unforgiven). It's not Carpenter's best but in a time thar Kevin Williamson becames a master of horror (urgh!) it's very refreshing.

Summary: JOHN CARPENTER DOES IT AGAIN
Review: This movie was AWESOME! It was scary, sexy and funny. John Carpenter has once again made a great movie that shocks and horrifies. It was no surprise to me seeing a great movie directed by the same man that directed other great movies such as Halloween and the great escape series staring Kurt Russel(Escape from New York,Escape from LA). If you want a sweet love story, you DONT want this movie, however if you want a great vampire flick that is VERY gory, don't look any farther because this is your movie!

Summary: A flawed masterpiece of the vampire genre
Review: If you like your vamps of the Anne Rice variety, forget this movie. It is an epic, relentless and highly stylish take on the mythology which owes more to the likes of Dusk Till Dawn, Near Dark and yes, even Buffy than it does to Bram Stoker's Drac. I'm not a Carpenter fan (the Thing aside) and there are serious flaws in the narrative which are more than made up for in the epic spaghetti western style of the movie. Worth the price of entry for the set-pieces at beginning and end alone. And, of course, James Woods. Sheryl Lee plays down her dreamgirl looks (Twin Peaks, Backbeat) as the tormented hooker Katrina. For fans the the genre this is an absolute must (I thought Blade sucked, incidently). The cable trick was a subperb addition to add to vamp killing mythology. I walked out with a big smile on my face

Summary: This is a movie that has no plot.
Review: I viewed this movie and felt that it was a waste of time and film. There was no plot to the movie. I am a fan of the vampire genre and I found this movie to be nothing but trash. The whole movie was about stakes and blood. There was nothing to the movie to keep the viewer interested. This movie is a lot like the movie "From Dusk 'Til Dawn". If you enjoyed that movie then you will enjoy this one. If you did not enjoy that movie then you will definitly not like this one either.

Summary: BLOODY HELL
Review: TO start with you need to watch this film with an open mind, you cannot watch THE THING and then watch VAMPIRES and expect to see the same special effects and quality acting (Kurt Russell) RIP, well escape from LA was a bit cack. Good film, good DVD so why not buy it, go on especialy if you've still got a bit of fright left in you from halloween (NOT H20).
