Summary: rent it before you buy it
Review: The only reason I would think that someone would look at the reviews for a Friday the 13th movie is that they haven't seen it. If you are one of those individuals that haven't viewed this movie, then please go to blockbuster, hollywood video, videotime, or what ever other video rental store you go to and rent this movie and the rest of the series. Why? Because the Friday the 13th series is not for everyone. The DVD doesn't have many extras, mostly just trailers and commentary, so if you buy DVDs for the extras, and not the exellecent audio and picture, buy the VHS version.

Summary: wow!!...
Review: This is right behind the 1st one as the 2nd scariest intallment to the series. It mixes Humor and scares together perfectly, and this is one which can be considered even by the critics as good because it has A PLOT!!... Plus this one doesn't take it self too seriously, but still comes out effective. See it!

Summary: Rather good entry though DVD is terrible.
Review: It was the most professionally one so far when it was made and they stopped using that awful grainy film. But they still lacked it in the scriptwriting dept. The same old [junk] with bad dialogue and teens finding some dumb reason to walk off into the woods and get killed. A few neat sequences and some elaborate deaths redeem it. Just don't count how many goofs there are. You'll be watching all day if you do. And CJ Graham makes for a pretty cool Jason. Though you don't really get to see his face in this 'un.

Paramount's DVD on the other hand is effortless. They put no thought into it whatsoever and the new cover art is horrid. The movie is still totally cut and there are no features besides the trailer.

The movie itself is presented in passable 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen with adequate Dolby 2.0 surround.

Summary: One of the better installments of the series
Review: What became a surprise hit at the box office (and opened the door for even more sequels), Jason Lives ends up being one of the better installments in the long running series of utterly predictable and unscary slasher films. Tommy Jarvis is back once again (this time played by Thom Mathews) to try to stop a newly resurrected Jason, and what results is some pure stupidity but only this time its not all unintentionally funny. It seems the writers just decided to have some fun and not take the film seriously (which was a big problem in some earlier installments) and it makes Jason Lives seem a bit worthwhile to view for the most part. There is hardly any nudity or sex as we've come to expect in the series which is odd, and these newly released DVD editions lack any special features (other than a trailer) and the new covers can't hold a candle to the original movie covers from the VHS tapes. All in all though, Jason Lives is one of the better installments of the series, and as long as you don't take it seriously you'll have a fun time.

Summary: Best of Jason Movies.
Review: I thought that this was the best Jason movie because it is one of the most interesting one's.A boy and his friend go to check if Jason is really dead. When they get there, the boy runs a metal pole through Jason. That was a big mistake.Lightning strikes the pole, bringing Jason back to life. The boy gets away. But the friend, lets just say he's somewhere up there.Jason goes back to his usual killing spree, killing almost anyone he finds. The death scenes are really bloddy and cool. This is the best Jason movie.See it now.

Summary: He's Back....He's the man behind the mask
Review: Once again, the previous reviewers have summed it up pretty good, but I'm gonna review this one anyway. Yes, it is one of the best in the series. It's the first of the second stage of Jason movies, where he decides that he no longer has to run after his victims, but casually stroll after them. This one had the good sense not to take itself too seriously, and I think that helped the movie immensely, and why it's regarded as one of the best. I mean, it's about time they realized that these movies are lame and just went with it. They push this point home early on when Jason hops out of his grave and Tommy throws gas on him intending to light him up. He lights a match(in hurricane-like wind), and just then it starts to down pour, and Tommy sits there and keeps trying to light the wet match. At that point I knew this one was going to be good. I do wish they got the Tommy Jarvis from the previous film, I think he was a pretty disturbing character himself. I like Thom Matthews(mainly because of Return Of The Living Dead), but I have to say his version of Tommy wasn't all that great. And wasn't Tommy taking over the killing duties(again!)at the end of part 5? The director either didn't see part 5 or he chose to forget it. I guess the movie wouldn't be called 'Jason Lives" then, would it? That would have been one helluva concept though: Jason returns as well as Tommy as a copycat killer or something. But, I didn't make the movie.

Summary: Good, but a bit of a let down
Review: With Jason dead in 4, and a copycat killer in 5, I was rather excited that they were going to bring Jason back to life. I expected this to be one of the best of the series, and while it was good, I think that the build up was overhyped. Maybe it was just me, but I though the studio would unleash the goriest, bloodiest, sexiest Friday film of them all. The actor who portrayed Tommy just didn't seem right, and the overall lack of sex seemed strange for a Friday the 13th movie. While it may not have met my expectations, it is still a very good film. What it lacks in sex and nudity, it makes up for in suspense and scares. A solid entry into the series, and much better than some other of the sequels. (Also, I really do no not like the dvd cover art. The original cover for the vhs tape was much better, and the same applies to all of the new covers for the dvds)

Summary: For a pretty big truck this thing aint bad at all
Review: You have to be a true F-13 fan to really enjoy most of the series. This one, however, is the exception. My only complaint, other than it's the only F13 flick without nudity, is the cheesy, coincidental lightning/fence-post ressurection. But the method of killing Jason in the end is both creative and actually makes sense considering the original plot of F13 part 1. The best part of the movie is by far Cort, the 80's stoner/slacker guy who probably only wanted to be a camp counselor to he could look for "Things that go bump in the night."

If you haven't seen this one, and are a fan of F13, check it out. It has stupid humor that will make you laugh anyway, is the first in the series where Jason is Super-Killer, not just some clumsy man-child who gets knocked over and lays there like Troy Aikman after a sack. But again, there is no nudity, which has become part of the Friday the 13th tradition. Worth watching.

Summary: is this better than part 4?
Review: I am writting to eview the movie not the dvd cus the movie is great but the dvd is poor, I paid £20 for the dvd and all I got was a 30 second trailer, but back to the movie, I bought this one cus I remember this one being the best along with part 4, now after watching this I am having doubts weather its actually better than part4, part 6 has some comedy parts but is also very suspence at times, but being only a 15 the theer is not much gore, there is some good deaths e.g the sherif but part 4 has alot more gore, so I will buy part 4 and see weather its better.
This does not effect the quality of the movie, the movie is great and there are some great killings, its not kane hodder but its still a good jason, best part = the sherifs death and the paintballing scene.
also check out jason x even if u aint seen theothers cus its a good one off film.
