Review: Hi! I am from New zealand. I just bought Child's play dvd today.In N.Z this disc is Zone 4 PAL and presented in 1:85:1..That means a letter box to my 4:3 TV. This disc is one of the best horrific movie in 80's. The story itself..I rate for 5 out of 5. But this disc's Special features only cost zero (rated 0 out of 5) Because they only got one threatrical trailer and the Collectible behind-the scenes booklet was soooo thin!! (Only one A4 size sheet) Come on ! we are living in 2001 Could they offer more stuff into the dvd disc??? After all If u like Chucky, u should own a copy of this.

Review: THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE. MY KIDS WON'T LET A DOLL STAY IN THEIR ROOMS. CHUCKY HIMSELF (I KNOW IT'S A DOLL) IS SCARY. BUT HAS A SICK SENSE OF HUMOR. KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT WITH YOUR FEET PULLED UP. DEFINETLY A CLASSIC.

Summary: Great horror film. Best Living doll movie ever.
Review: I really love this movie. First of all, it ended that terrible my buddy phase with children. I remembered my sister had one of the "My Buddy" dolls (which look like Chucky) and once she saw the TV commerical for this movie she threw it away in the fireplace. I don't blame her, Chucky is very scary at some sequences in this movie. The director probably intended that, because almost every one is scared of dolls. I mean look at them with their human like eyes, they look like they're thinking about something, it really disturbs me. So let's talk about the actually movie now. The opening sequence introduces you to Chucky, a serial killer who is in quite a bind with the police as of now. At the end of the chase Chucky ends up in a toy store and is shot. His dying words are a strange voodoo curse (which strangely resemble the ingredients of Arby's food) that transfer his soul to another body. The body is, you guessed it a doll. Then, the film is interrupted with a CHEESY CARTOON! You have to see the good guy doll commercial, you won't forget it anytime soon. So, some dorky child witnesses this atrocity and for some strange, unknown reason he wants to buy a good guy doll. His mom goes to her favorite toy buying source, some ugly stinky HOBO! Yes sir, I turn to hobos for my consumer needs as well. Anyway, she buys a good guy doll from the old heffer and brings it to her overjoyed little squirt. Soon after STRANGE THINGS begin to occur. (Ex: The boy asks if his doll can...WATCH THE 9'OCLOCK NEWS HOW SHOCKING!) Anyway some people start dying and murder by murder they begin to realize that the hobo ripped them off...BIG TIME! Some very scary stuff though in this movie. A reccommended buy for anyone with even a remote interest in horror. Scariest Moment (thrill spoiler): Catherine Hicks picks up the doll and looks in it's back only to reveal it never had batteries in it. Then Chucky's head spins around and screams, "I'm CHUCKY WANNA PLAY?" That scene made me turn off the movie for a while so i could relax.

Summary: A Great Little Movie.
Review: When I first saw this movie, I was about 7 years old and ... I threw all my stuffed animals and the likes into the closet and would not let them out for weeks. So of course, everytime I saw it on TV I was turned away by fear. But as I got older, I started getting into more movies like this one, so of course I had to see it again. This is a bit of a change in the horror genre. Chucky is closer to the likes of Freddy Krueger, and further apart from Jason Vorhees or Michael Meyers (not the swinger). Chucky's personality is at times hilarious, and at the same time, very creepy. Of all the scenes in this movie, I'd have to say the elevator scene with the two old people is the funniest. Catherine Hicks perfects the art of overacting in this movie, but then again, most horrors aren't too intent on the acting. The special effects (when barely seen) are great for this time, but it just annoys me whenever I see little Andy Barclay holding Chucky up to his ear and saying "Can you repeat that?" All in all, a very clever little movie, something to scare up the 6 year old in you. This one is a little more serious and darker than it's followers, but this is where "Bride of Chucky" all started. Every and any horror fan should check this out, as if they haven't seen it already!

Review: 'child's play' is one of the best horror movies ever. no its not scary(at least not after watching it once) but you try and imagine how you'd feel if you discovered your favorite doll or just a doll period, was possessed by a dead serial killer and came after you.(pretty damn scary). this movie was funny, suspenseful and just different for its time(1988) especially during a period where freddy and jason were the kings of horror(if you can call those pictures horror movies). and catherine hicks delivers a really good performance as the beyond terrified mother to andy(the little boy). if you havent seen this film what are you waiting for and if you didnt like this film well i dont like you.

Review: Child's Play was a wonderful and entertaining film. The film is mixed with both humer and horror. The acting is the all time best. The storyline is simple. A little boy named Andy Barcley wants the hottest new toy on the market, called a Good Guy Doll. Well, his mom buys him one not knowing it has been possessed by a man named Charles Lee Ray. From then on there is nothing more than murders, gun shots, bites, bruises, people falling out of windows and more. I have seen this movie well over 100 times, I love it more each time. Buy this movie. You will not be sorry you did.
