Review: This is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen! Don't care if it is true or a hoax, no one know and nobody cares! For the skeptic and the atheist there is no evidence nor will there be, but for the majority, this actually happened. There are more people that believe this happened than those who doubt it. This movie has some very chilling images and manages to scare a hard-core horror fan like me. This is one I would recommend buying now! The only way for this movie to scare you is IF YOU TAKE IT SERIOUSLY AND PRETEND THAT ALL YOU'RE SEEING IS REAL! WATCH IT ALONE IN THE DARK, I DARE YOU!!! The Amityville Horror Lives, and I like it and I live 5 houses down from the infamous house, and everytime we drive buy it, we feel cold! See it tonight!!!!

Review: THIS MOVIE IS SO SCARY! DON'T DENY IT! IT IS VERY SCARY!!! I don't care about whether or not it is true, but it is still scary regardless of the truth behind it. Me like previous reviewers are sick of people acting like they know what happened. You don't know because you weren't there. This movie is very scary! This is a great scary movie that you should either buy or rent tonight and watch it alone in the dark to get really scared!

Summary: Hoax or Not it's still scary!
Review: Yes their is a contraversy going back and forth about whether it's real or not, and frankly me and the rest of humanity don't care, its still a scary movie. It's a movie about well I won't tell you what it's about, just watch the movie, and I garantee, that if you pretend just for a moment that all of this is real and imagine that all of that was happening to you, that's the psychological side that we must not forget. Watch this one alone in the dark.

Review: It still scares the...heck out of people, and that's a good thing. Watch this one alon in the dark and don't watch it to criticise it or debunk it, just watch and get scared people. It may or may not have happened, but none of us can say for sure. Does it matter if it's real? It's still scary! Stop trying to call it a hoax, were you there? No! So stop trying to be the expert. To all the debunkers think about this, would you just up and run out of a house you just bought, leaving all your personal belongings behind for nothing? If they were trying to create a hoax, they would be putting there family name and kids in jepordy, and hardly any haunted house reports become documented, so basically the odds were against them, now tell me if this was a hoax, why are there so many events that disprove your theory? I'm not saying it's real, and frankly I could care less if it was real, it's a scary movie! Period and end of discussion! None of us were there, so none of us could say what happened there, so cool it. Buy or rent this horror classic today, and just pretend for a moment that it was you living in the house and all that was happening to you. In other words try to be the main character. Review: This is psychologically, and physically scary film! I could care less if it is fact or fiction, it's scary either way. Remember Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street? They were fantasy, and they're also two of the scariest movies ever!

Review: "GET OUT!" That line stayed with me for weeks! This movie is scary, regardless of whether or not it happened, it's very scary and disturbing. I say that this has got to be one of the scariest films ever made. This is not an average haunted house movie, it looks like it could of actually happened. Alot of terror of the unseen! Amityville is now synonomous with horror, ...Their town is in one of the scariest movies, why be mad at the producers of this film! It's scary either way, and even if you think it is a hoax, just pretend for a moment that all of that is real. Watch this one alone, in the dark, and I garantee you'll be scared half to death. Buy or rent today!

Review: Stop trying to debate whether or not this happened, it doesn't matter does it? It's still a very scary movie! This argument has gone on for so long. The skeptics and atheist believe it's a hoax, but the Lutz's believe it happened. You weren't there, you don't know, so quit whinning about it! This may or may not have happened, but for the sake of getting scared to death let's just pretend that this is all true, watch it alone in the dark and prepare to get scared, then go research and listen to both sides of the argument, and make your own choice. Oppinions don't hold water, if these people can tell the same story over and over again, then it's true, but thanks to the press and a guy who got his ego hurt, somethings were added and details were changed. I don't think the Lutz were stupid enough to leave a 80,000$ home with all their valueables for nothing! Think about it! Most haunted house stories don't become popular, so these people would be taking a big risk, the odds would be against them! Use some common sense people! Watch the movie with an open mind and consider for a moment that this is all real. You'll be amazed how scared you'll get in this film. I recommend it. Watch, research, and make your own opinion. Scared the crap out me and my 5 friends! We don't get scared in anything, except for maybe The Exorcist and The Ring, but that's about it. See it!

Review: Yes so it was a hoax, big deal. It still is scary, but nobody wants to take it seriously anymore. Take it seriously, watch it alone in the dark. Like the Blair Witch this film was ruined because the producres had to declare that it was a hoax, then people considered it laughable. As I recall when it first came out everyone was scared!! Stop ruining a great film and take it seriously!!!

Summary: Semi-classic of hokey horror.
Review: While far from a success (artistically speaking, the movie was a smash hit at the box office), The Amityville Horror still serves a semi-important place in the haunted house genre (opening the effects laden door on what was once an imagination driven genre) as well as a place in the history of independent cinema, it being the final movie released by the legendary American International Pictures.Based on a supposed true story, the movie undermines its credibility by going for flamboyant (and quite fictionalized) melodrama, especially concerning the priest character played by Rod Steiger, who overacts horribly. The Stuart Rosenberg directed thriller works best in subtle moments, but those are few and far between as the newly married Lutz's move into a seeming dream house and are confronted with a wide variety of paranormal phenomenon. Lalo Schifrin contributes an icy, creepy score, but little else lifts this movie above cheap, melodramatic TV movie of the week sensationalism.
