Rating: Summary: Clever and entertaining! Review: This film looks very good. It sounds really good. It IS really good! Pretty much anything with Denise Richards in it has been good. But I really like this. Not only because it's a slasher but because it brought something different to slashers. An inventive (kinda) and interesting story surronded by stunning actresses and neatly edited death. Most slashers (most surprisingly) like SCREAM 3 have the killer plainly stabbing their victim with the knife or throwing them off balconies! In this the directer manages to build up some suspense before every victim. Especially (Spoiler!) the begining where Shelly hides in the morge and the killer stabs through each body bag looking for her. Once he kills her, he simply closes it back and walks out (Spoiler End!). I really enjoy this film for what it is. Fun entertainment! Love Hurts! This doesn't!
Rating: Summary: Not bad... Review: typical slasher however the gore is pretty tame (though that's WB's fault, not the MPAA). if you like slasher movies, give this a try. But it's not nothing new.
Rating: Summary: this is the best movie Review: I saw this movie when it was in the theaters and I fell in love with it. I have always been a big fan of the slasher movies and this one is the best one I've seen so far. When I was younger my mom never let me watch things like this and now that I'm older, I take advantage of it. I've seen about every teen slasher film or any movie like them but "VALINTINE" is the best one I've seen!I higly recomend this movie to anyone who liked the "SCREAM TRILOGY","I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER", and "URBAN LEGEND"
Rating: Summary: Fun Fun Fun Review: Jamie Blanks's "Valentine" may not have much substance, but it's a helluva time! The production design (especially the mansion at the end) and cinematography are really the best parts of this slasher. But I'm a huge fan of horror films, so needless to say, I loved "Valentine." I also like Denise Richards, but none of the acting is really that good. It's a run-of-the-mill, cheesy slasher flick, but it's a fun one at that!
Rating: Summary: not a waste of time Review: look, i went to this movie a week after it first opened with a group of my friends..i had reservations about this movie because of the bad reviews that i had seen in a local paper. i went with my friends to this movie with low expectations. i like similar movies like the scream trilogy (though at times it seems a little played out), i know what you did..., and i thought urban legend wasn't bad at all. this movie can now be added to that list...i left the theater satisfied with time i spent watching this movie and i can't wait to pick it up when it finally arrives on DVD
Rating: Summary: Scary slasher flick Review: "Valentine" might not win the Oscar for Best Horror Film, but it still is in line with other slashers such as "Urban Legend" and "Cherry Falls," the latter of which received very positive reviews. This is still a good, scary movie, although not as clever as the awesome "Scream" Trilogy or the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movies. The movie starts with a dorky, ugly kid, Jeremy, asking five popular girls to dance with him at the school Valentine's Day dance. All of them meanly turn him down, except for two -- Kate, who tells him maybe later. And Dorothy, who ends up making out with him under the bleachers. When a group of kids see them, Dorothy claims he attacked her and Jeremy is sent off to reform school, never seen again. Flash forward nine years...the girls are all in college when one of them is viciously murdered by a cherub mask-wearing killer. Then they all start getting threatening notes, and then more people die until the big climax -- a Valentine's Day party at Dorothy's huge mansion, and the killer is revealed. Yeah, it sounds very cliche, I know. But there is actually some originality in the script, and the actors play their parts surprisingly well for a somewhat low-budget horror flick. Marley Shelton in particular stands out as the sweet heroine Kate. So, all in all, not a bad scary movie. Not a fantastic one either, but not as bad as reviews have made it out to be. Give it a chance, and you'll be surprised. Oh, one more thing: to the person who said all of the good reviews for this movie have incorrect grammar and spelling....I know that's a cutdown for all fans of the movie, and it's your opinion if you like it or not, but maybe you should worry about the MOVIE instead of our spelling mistakes. Because last time I checked, you were supposed to review the movie, and not our spelling. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: entertaining slasher romp with a great cast! Review: Here is a movie that just seemed to come along at the wrong time. Had it been made three years ago it would have probably been a hit, but it had the misfortune of being released after so many dull teen oriented horror films that no one seemed to care. While the novel by Tom Savage was much better, this liberally adapted film version is a decent "old school" slasher film. Unlike "Scream" or "Urban Legend," the movie does not feel the need to throw in tons of references to other horror flicks to remind the viewer that they are not just watching an episode of "Dawson's Creek." The performances are pretty good, and the murder scenes are staged with an appropriate amount of gusto. The main flaw is that the identity of the killer is obvious from the first time the character walks on screen, despite some last minute twists to make the viewer believe otherwise. I would recommend "Valentine" to fans of stars David Boreanaz (of Buffy and Angel) and Denise Richards, as well those who enjoyed the slasher epics of the early 80's. I am writing this review mainly as a response to another review, which implied that those who enjoyed it couldn't read or write...I am a professional writer and I really enjoyed "Valentine."
Rating: Summary: I think I see a trend Review: Does it strike anyone else as unusual that every single good review of this movie is filled with spelling/grammatical errors?
