Summary: HILLARIOUS
Review: All right everyone says THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME. i am telling you this is the funniest movie ever made for horror. I laughed the hole time. I think it was a good movie but it was very funny. I especially enjoy the scene in which Linda Blair pretens to be and airplane. I laughed my head off and i think you should rent it and scare your friends because that was the whole point of why this movie was made. AND IT IS A VERY GOOD HORROR MOVIE IT IS MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIE.

Summary: Its so silly its scary!
Review: What can be said about this movie that hasn't already been said before. I finally managed to get a copy of the 25th anniversary edition and sat down to watch it once more. Was I scared? Somewhat but having grown older and wiser I now looked past the surface of this film. First of all, people have failed to notice a lot of the black humour in this film. All the lude remarks made by little Regan during the exorcism to the Priests is rather funny. There is no doubt some of the visuals in this film will haunt you especially if you live in a house which has a second floor. This is the beauty of this film that it takes place in such an ordinary setting where millions live thus giving the impression, it can happen to you. The pacing also works well though after a few viewings it does get boring. Some of the scenes are simply too short and the transition from one scenario to another isn't always that smooth. For example we barely get past Regan's birthday and then all of a sudden twenty short scenes later Regan's mother is begging the priest for an exercism. And please folks, how does a little girl manage to twist the head of a fully grown man and then toss him out the window? Why didn't they show us that scene which really would have displayed the demon rather then do the whole thing off screen? Basically there are very few shock scenes in this film, the masturbation scene and the exorcism itself being formost. The movie is disturbing and one who is quite religious will find it even more so. However that seventies feel to it is quite evident and I'm afraid as time goes on it wont age well. As for the documentry that comes along with this edition it was a let down. I expected a full account concerning the true story that this film is based on as well as footage from movie goers coming out of the theaters back in 73 when this was first shown. Lets see actual people confessing to passing out and throwing up. The things the featurette does show is stuff one can find on the net regarding production and how they used slings and such for the bed thumping scenes and so forth; believe me it was nothing earthshattering. The best part of this special edition is the movie trailor that comes with it; 3 in fact and they all manage to scare you. Its a classic no doubt about it and well done for its time but it has gotten old as well and movie goers have also gotten more sophisticated. Certainly its one of the most controversial films to be made but I think the scariest film for me is "The Evil Dead" At any event this film does belong in every true horror fan's collection but you will catch yourself laughing at it more then anything by the fifth or sixth viewing if not sooner. Highly recommended.

Summary: A Classic but.....
Review: Some of my girlfriends and I rented this movie for a sleepover I was having at my house. It was Friday the 13th and we watched it in my basement at 11:30 so we figured we would be scared out of our mind. I liked it because it was a classic horror movie but I guess after seeing all this new-age horror movies with all the real life graphics, The Exorcist wasnt that scary. The only thing that creeped me out was the way the girl looked when she was possesed. But dont get me wrong, I think everyone should see it atleast once.

Summary: Really Disapointing
Review: Maybe it's just because I'm young and in the age of new horror films, but when I watched this I was so suprised and very disappointed. Since this is such a famous film, i expected it to be better. I suppose that similar to Hitchcock's psycho, it was very scary at the time, but is not scary now.

Raegan and her movie star mother are living in Washington, and Raegan appears to aquire a strange illness. The doctors can find no explanation, and Raegan keeps getting stranger and stranger until outright freak things begin to happen. That is when her mother decides to get an exorcist - when nothing else has worked.

First, I kept on expecting suprises. In modern movies, there is always something waiting to jump out at you and suprise you, but in this movie that didn't happen. Every time something exciting was going to occur, you heard yelling from Raegan's room, the people ran up there, and she would do some wild freaky thing like spin her head around. There was no element of suprise, just disgusting scenes involving green puke and spinning heads. The new footage was intrigueing, but not that great.

THis is a movie that everyone should see at least once because is a classic horror film, but it is not scary in the least.

Summary: Really freaky...one of the scariest films I have ever seen!
Review: I saw this at my Aunt's house this past weekend, and I have to say that it is one of the most disturbing films that I have ever seen in my entire life! Linda Blair gives a wonderful (and freaky) performance! This is not your typical horror movie. It is an epic film which depicts the realism of a demonic attack in a no holds barred fashion. It is certainly not for the weak of stomach, or those of you who have heart problems! Haunting. Will stay with you long after it is over.

The new version contains fifteen minutes of footage not seen in theatres, including the horrifying "spider walk" scene.

*This film contains content that may be very offensive to some viewers. This one is definitly not for children.*

Summary: I just don't see the horror
Review: I watched this with my cousin and I thought it was as funny as hell.(No pun intended.) I just couldn't stop cracking up.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Why not a DTS Audio Track?
Review: Me and my cousin saw this new version of "The Exorcist", whoa!, it was really scary, i dob't even dare to buy it on DVD, if you see it 5 times, you'll get traumatized, for your whole life!, altough i saw it one time, and at the next day, we, were still a bit scared, but i ask myself about the DVD, "Why not a DTS audio version?", the Dolby Digital, it's nothing compared to DTS, we saw it on DTS, and it's more scary, and the audio sounds a lot more clearer, also the DVD, it's very mediocre, the features are boring, even "The Book of Life" DVD features are better, even tough they are just a weblink, production notes, and biographies, i recommend you to see it, but maybe not to own it.

Summary: Scary to some, not to others....
Review: I am a movie connoisseur and I love THE EXORCIST. However, many do not. A good friend of mine hated it and I know of others who do too. I first saw this movie a few years ago because I have always heard of it but never saw it and wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I must have been only sixteen and decided to rent it and watch it alone (so as to not be persuaded of my judgement by a prejudice either way). Anyway, I turned off all the lights when no one was home and started the movie. Well, the music freaked me out from the start but I must admit that the first hour or so is BOR-ING if you aren't into "informational" type horror flicks. I am now (there aren't many of us out there), but wasn't then. So, I liked it. But there is, contrary to belief before actually seeing it for yourself, not much action in the whole movie except for the main exorcism. The main reason the movie scared me is because I am a deeply religious person and I know that that is possible. That sort of thing has happened and does still happen. Reguardless of what people say, it's possible and it touched a sore spot in my psyche. The main reason most people are not fans of THE EXORCIST is, in fact, because most of it is "boring". Is is an old movie and that's another reason why most people don't favor it. Nowadays it's all about blood and guts and don't get me wrong, I love a good blood-bath, but to me, the "ghost" and "demon" type movies are scarier because they are realistic. It depends on your taste if you'll like it. But don't take my word for it, rent it and see for yourself. Happy haunting!
