Friday the 13th, Part V - A New Beginning

Summary: Not the Worst Friday!!
Review: Okay, so you're expecting the same ole Jason thing, kill every character in a nice orderly fashion using every yard tool imaginable until there is the obvious sole survivor, busty or still looks good even she's found all her friends dead and been chased thru the woods in a middle of a rain storm, and miraciously offs what men half her size could not do at the end.......WELL, that's exactly what you get for the 5th time! But, for this to be labeled as the worst of the series....I DISAGREE! This movie kept Jason dead like part 4 ended (part 6 resurrected him again). I think it was cool how thru the entire movie you are lead to believe the killer is Jason, wearing a hockey mask and all, but is actually Joey's dad using the "Jason-thing" to act out revenge for the death of his son! From the point Reggie goes upstairs and discovers bodies in Tommy's room to the push of "Jason" out the barn door onto the bed of spikes (the last 25 minutes), INTENSE! One of the best flee from the killer into the woods, then back again, then confrontation until the bloody end in the series. The thunderstorm with it's loud strikes of thunder and flashes of light revealing dead bodies was perfect! If you are tired of the same [stupid] plot, then watch this one for the Ethel scenes. HILARIOUS! Her lines were famous to me and a few friends for years! True, there were parts that dragged and characters killed that held no ties to Pinehurst (half-way house), but this is NOT the lamest Friday. NOT THE BEST BUT NOT THE WORST!!

Summary: IT'S BEGINNING TO GET OLD NOW
Review: THIS SEQUEL IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE 1ST 4. IN THIS ONE, A MASKED MURDERER GOES ON A KILLING SPREE IN A SMALL TOWN. PLEASE NOTE THAT JASON ONLY APPEARS IN THE OPENING SCENE, FROM THERE, THE KILLER IS NOT JASON, BUT AN IMITATOR WITH THE SAME MOTIVE. THE STORY IS PRETTY WEAK AND THIS IS JUST MORE OF THE SAME STUFF THAT IS SEEN IN FRIDAY THE 13TH 1-4. THE TOMMY JARVIS CHARACTER IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE LAST ONE. THE SERIES WAS BEGINNING TO REALLY SHOW THAT THIS SERIES NEEDS TO BE STOPPED, BUT, THEY JUST DON'T SEEM TO KNOW THE WORD STOP, DO THEY?

Review: Okay,so maybe some think this is the worst in the series.Well they're WRONG!This is probably one of the best of the series.Although 3,4 and 6 are AWSOME,this one's probably in 4th place.For those who watch for the death scenes,you WON'T be disappointed!It is by far the most origional of them all although part 10 in space was also origional.This one had some good characters.A funky music girl,a red neck and his trash mouth momma,a show off black kid and his Michael Jackson brother!This is very creative!Tiffany Helm gives a GREAT performance as Violet(the funky music girl).She's also a wonderful dancer!I give it an A+ for creativity!If you're like some that put it down,you are not a TRUE fan of the series.You'll like it if you get into the movie.Just get it.You will be glad you did!

Summary: Not the best Friday, but not bad either.
Review: Although this is a fun installment of the Friday series, parts 1,2,4 and 7 were better. (know the fact that I only consider parts 1-8 part of the series because the rest [are bad]) 5 takes place in a home with teens who have problems at home and teens with small disabilities or problems. Tommy Jarvis is going there to recooperate from the trauma he experienced as a boy from part 4: the final Friday??? Anyway, this is pretty decent. DVD features aren't all that but there is a great transfer and it's wide screen. Overall DVD grades:

Summary: Pee Pot Poor
Review: Man, what a turkey. I rather enjoy the friday films but this one is a real dog. Perhaps theres an uncut version out there? The one i saw had the mark of the censor's blade all over it. It appears the censor made more cuts in this one than the killer. The gore was minimal. There was one of the higher body counts in the series but wheres the carnage? Seeing the ax come down and then hearing a scream while the camera pans around everywhere but the crime scene doesn't cut it. This is friday the 13th. let the blood run in rivers. Then theres the charaters. There wasn't one in the bunch you can feel for. Hey, part 3 had shelly. Part 4 had little tommy. This one? Nothing. Just some stiff playing an older tommy who you hope would just get the ax. Then theres "Jason". I'm not going to go into this atrocity in any real detail but lets just say he's not quite himself in this one. Overall, A boring, uninspired and tame entry into the series. Just go from part 4 to 6.

Review: First off this is by far the worst in the series even surpassing the pathetic (7,8,9 10) films. The story is about Tommy going to a camp with kids with mental problems from his past trauma with Jason from The Final Chapter film. Next out of no apparent reason a mentally retarded kid(Joey)gets slaughtered with an axe by some dumb bully. Then his father(Roy) is a paramedic that sees his dead son and later snaps, copying Jason by wearing the mask and killing. Yes,thats right Jason Voorhees is not even in the movie. Its some angry dad that steals Jason's identity(Remind you of the terrible Part 9)and kills. Lastly this movie has the worst ending ever with Tommy acting strange now and he kills a nurse(either in a dream or reality)the viewer doesn't know. This movie is the Halloween 3,Nightmare 2,of the Friday the 13th series(it doesn't belong). No Jason,it should have been called the just new beginning. BOTTOM LINE IF YOU WANT FRIDAY THE 13th,watch Friday The 13th (1,3,6) they are all good horror films.
