Summary: Good Movie But...
Review: For Rob Zombie's film debut I thought he did very well. This movie depicted the messed up, deep, dark mind of Rob Zombie. The plot of the movie was not orignal but i'm not going to sit here and badmouth it. This movie gave me a break from all the teen slasher movies(Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and gave me some messed up, deep, dark thoughts. This movie did not scare me but it did introduce me into the mind that is Rob Zombie. The actors in this movie were plain horrible except for Sig Haig. They could have also gone into more detail on Dr. Satan's life but Zombie didnt. I give it 8.0/10 or............

Summary: Very Refreshing
Review: This film may get nothing but horrible reviews from critics, but that's just because it doesn't follow the modern-day Hollywood establishment's rules that a horror film can't possibly be any good if it isn't dreary, complicated, constantly rainy, and if it isn't starring some wierd little kid. House Of 1000 Corpses goes back to that old lunatic idea of horror movies actually being scary. It shows very disturbing visuals and you don't get wrapped up thinking about the story and trying to figure things out because the story is basic and direct. This is every bit as scary as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" or "The Exorcist". Sor-ry if it isn't the same old boring pointless ghoul flick like "The Ring", "Fear Dot Com", or "Ghost Ship". Hollywood seems to be telling people that if a film doesn't follow the exact formula or mood of those films, then they aren't worth watching. I say that if you're as sick of those films as I am, you'll love House Of 1000 Corpses. I consider it a destined classic. It is scary as hell and the performances in particular of Sid Haig and Bill Mosley are phenomenal. If you're a fan of truely scary horror, do yourself a favor and watch this film. Thanks, Rob Zombie. Horror needs a little more of your genious.

Summary: Unforgiving and Terrifying...
Review: Rob Zombie has made one hell of a disturbing and frightening horror movie that is unforgettable and unsettling. Forget those "fun" horror films made for teens, this is the real deal. As soon as you finish "House of 1000 Corpses," you are literally shaking in absolute shock. Not because it's that scary, but because it's that unrelenting and unforgiving.

Having a really big "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" influence in it, the film is about a young group of people who take a wrong turn and end up in a house filled with maniacs, cannibals, and murdering madmen who love to maim and torture. What led the group to the house was a desire to find out more about the legend of Dr. Satan. Now, they'll wish that they had never left home and have never heard the name. "House of 1000 Corpses" takes you into Hell and back.

I have to admit, I had a real hard time watching it. The movie is really brutal and uneasy to watch. However, there's something about it that keeps you watching no matter how much you want to shut it off. Zombie has made a successful horror movie that terrifies and shocks. It has an undeniable feel and tone to it all that Zombie has perfected.

It is what it is. It's not out to the be the Great American movie. This movie is a horror/slasher movie and nothing more. People who are looking for more will be disappointed, without a doubt. Be warned, this isn't a film for the weak and sensitive. This is not "Scream," or any other "cute" teen horror flick. This movie is raw, dark, evil and disturbing. That is why it is a success in my eyes. Rob Zombie did a great job of orchestrating all of this. I can see him doing more with this genera. I am sure this won't be the last horror film we see from him.

The DVD has some cool extras. The picture and sound quality is great. Really gives you the sense that you are there and not just only watching it. The menu is one of the funniest ones I have ever seen on a DVD. Be sure to watch Captain Spaulding's greeting. Extras included are commentary, audition footage, interviews, trailers, a featurette and more. A lot of hard work went into the DVD, that is for sure.

My overall feeling about this movie is that I liked it. It's brutal and hard to watch, but that's what Rob Zombie was going for. Just be sure to watch it for what it is and don't try to read too much into it. "House of 1000 Corpses" is a terrifying and uneasy ride into Hell that you won't soon forget.

Summary: A stinking piece of garbage that stinks real bad!
Review: At one time or another, I was a fan of Rob Zombie, so I decided to rent the movie. I should have saved my $$$$! It was a big waste of time. It was grotesque, it was a piece of trash. It was worse than the first Friday the 13th (see Jason X for real action!). The production level of this movie must have been real low. Hollywood is getting real desperate if they are making these kind of movies. Sad, really sad. Save your time and money, rent the Lizzie McGuire movie. That is better than this! It is funny, it is exciting it is worth the money! Horror fans stay away! P.S. I am not a studio exec trying to promote other movies, I let the movies premote themselves!

Summary: lacked originality, and good acting
Review: I love robs music, and I liked this movie, but did not love it.
First, Mr. Zombie claims he will revolutionize the genre, and talks how cliché horror movies have become. I thought this was the most cliché movie I ever seen. examples: the car not starting, the girl tripping and falling when the bad guy chases her.
This is also the most [copy cat] movie I have ever seen: it was the Texas chainsaw massacre to a tee! some compare it to this movie, but I say its almost exact. You have a morbid red-neck family, that is all working together to kill people, Chandelier made of bone, main character wares a dead skin mask, he even looks like the guy from Texas chainsaw massacre 2 (the one with the light hair and a cowboy hat)
The acting is very corny, and cheesy, bad acting! plus some of the worst picture flashing, grainy editing ever!
And finally, the ending just about ruins this movie
I would have given this higher rating if it wasn't for the lack of originality...good blood scenes though!!

Summary: If you like anything filmed, avoid at all costs!!!!
Review: Likening this to an already outdated music-video expanded into an inept idea is being nice. Pointless, not scary, not sexy at all, and BLAND - this fails as an even basic horror film. I could poop a monopoly playing piece with more flavor than this rotting piece of awful.

Summary: Not Screaming, but yawning.
Review: There is little that can be said of this movie, except that Rob Zombie should be ashamed of himself. He's taken a great title, and decent concept and turned it into a cookie cutter attempt at horror. I have been watching horror movies since I was six years old and like to think of myself as a true horror buff. When I heard of 1000 Corpses coming to the big screen I was salivating in anticipation. When I heard "Morally reprehensible" as a critic's review I was titillated. BUT, when I saw the movie yesterday I was crushed.

You can tell that Zombie is at least attempting at a disturbing movie. But he follows all of the typical genre moves. He gives sudden shockers that are anything but shocking, he gives gruesome scenes that watching the local news puts to shame and he makes characters that give a yearning of the cinematic performances of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. My brain is still sore from trying to comprehend the aimless and much to fast plot. The story moved as fast and pointlessly as a child who is in need of ritalin.

From characters you never care about, to scares that do anything but, this movie is wonderful if you suffer from a case of insomnia. Truly, if you wish for a scary movie, watch a Barney the Dinosaur DVD before you buy this drivel. Of all the things in this world, only this can make me lose some respect for Zombie. No scares, not disturbing, no character development... I am so ashamed...

Summary: Ehhh...
Review: Now this movie wasn't exactly horrible, and I could've enjoyed it more if the ending hadn't been so bad. (Spoiler) I wanted the last character to make it out so bad, and it led me to believe she actually would... but Rob had to go with the stupid cliche ending that totally ruined my respect for the plot. (End spoiler) He does a good job of creating a sadistic family, and the first half hour is good, but from there it's just a bunch of death/torture scenes. I couldn't stand how the characters did practically nothing to help themselves besides the last girl. The two police officers were complete morons. They basically lined up for their deaths. I know this wasn't made to be an awesome movie, and it shows. It is half-decent. There was something about it I liked, probably because I felt for the characters... but I honestly feel watching this movie has made me less humane. If you aren't a fan of Rob Zombie or you're unsure at all, please don't see this movie. And keep it away from kids too.

Summary: Never Listen To Anyone
Review: Well, "House" is anything but bad. Depraved, sadistic, colorful, fun as hell and near-perfectly timed, "House Of 1,000 Corpses" comes blasting at you in a way that no modern "horror" films do. It's campy, cheesy and very tongue in cheek on the surface but the underbelly is very disturbing and grotesque, despite being absolutely hilarious overall. The acting couldn't be better for a horror film and Sid Haig and Bill Moseley have the knack for making their characters come alive and make them believable.

Overall, it bears similarity to the movies it's been compared to but in terms of overall feel, it reminds me mostly of Peter Jackson's classic zombie-gore fest "Dead Alive" in that the modern film techniques takes away from the creepiness factor but it delivers depravity and sickening fun in droves. After watching the film from beginning to end, I contend that had it been filmed in the 70s, complete with the film graininess and a chilling soundtrack throughout, "House" would have scared the flesh off of everyone who's seen it but modern technology makes it look almost cartoonish. However, don't let that draw you away from a film that is a blast to watch and at time, funny as one's sick sense of humor will allow.
