Summary: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Review: Hockey-masked killer Jason Vorhees returns to terrorize a lakeside family and their rowdy teen neighbors in this fourth installment of the long-running slasher series. After the events of Friday the 13th, Part 3, Jason's seemingly lifeless body is brought to the morgue, where horny attendant Axel (Bruce Mahler) is trying to score with foxy Nurse Morgan (Lisa Freeman). The pair quickly meet a grisly end. Meanwhile, at Crystal Lake, estranged wife Mrs. Jarvis (Joan Freeman) and her kids -- young Tommy (Corey Feldman) and teenaged Trish (Kimberly Beck) -- find their quiet invaded by a group of hard-partying kids moving into the rental house next door. The youngsters include curious virgin Sara (Barbara Howard), hot-to-trot Samantha (Julie Aronson), and nebbish Jimmy (Crispin Glover). Tommy, a monster makeup enthusiast, enjoys watching the scantily clad young ladies through his window, while Trish toys with the idea of joining in their revelries. Also lurking around the area is Rob (Erich Anderson), who claims to be hunting bear but actually has mysterious ties to the events of Friday the 13th, Part 2. As the house full of teens begins to pair off -- aided by the addition of local twins Tina (Camilla More) and Terri (Carey More) to the mix -- an unseen killer begins to pick them off one by one. The bloodshed climaxes with a tense showdown in which Tommy disguises himself as a bald, lumpy boyhood version of Jason in hopes of distracting the relentless psychopath who hunts him. Feldman would return for a cameo in Friday the 13th, Part 5: A New Beginning, only to be replaced by another actor in a grown-up version of the role.

Review: With the exception of Kevin Bacon, Corey Feldman is probably the most famous actor ever to grace a Friday the 13th flick, and his precocious performance in Friday the 13th -- The Final Chapter is one of the elements that elevates the film above most of the other installments. The lurid imagery of special effects artists Tom Savini and Martin Becker don't hurt, nor does Barney Cohen's relatively well-oiled script. Teen comedy antics from Crispin Glover and Lawrence Monoson and the good girl/bad girl combo of Barbara Howard and Julie Aronson give the typically sex-crazed shenanigans of the cast of victims a bit more pull than normal, although Kimberly Beck is just as generic a putative heroine as those found in the earlier installments. Joseph Zito isn't exactly a cinematic stylist, but the director does manage to inject a bit of freshness into the inevitable climactic hunt. The scene in which Feldman's character figuratively "becomes" Jason is among the queasiest moments in the entire series; the killing that occurs immediately afterward is definitely the most enjoyable, as far as such things go. Alas, this wasn't truly "the final chapter" in the saga.

Summary: Great slasher fun!
Review: One of the top entries in the eternal Friday the 13th series. When put together, parts 2, 3, and 4 all take place within a very short time of each other. This episode has Jason at his peak, before the deaths became gimmicky. We are also introduced to the most popular hero in the series, Tommy Jarvis. The boy who kills Jason and later resurrects him.

We see a bunch of kids get killed, a good chase scene, and a young boy pushed over the edge. Part 5 is just plain terrible (but I'll buy it anyway when it comes out on DVD).

Probably the creepiest scene is in the basement of the teen's house when Rob gets killed. You almost feel sorry for the guy as he's been hunting Jason for a while.

All in all, it's a great movie. A good horror film and a great slasher film.

Summary: "Final Chapter"....Shyeah, Right!!
Review: After the ax grinding conclusion to "Friday the 13th Part 3-D", you would think Jason would finally take things lying down, but "Paramount Studios" had plenty of milk left to squeeze out of this franchise's teet. After being taken to the County Morgue, Jason wakes up pretty grumpy & decides to let the coroner & his nurse girlfriend know about it by killing them both. After that, well,.... after that... Jason is lost! After he figures out where he's headed (I'm sure he has a compass w/ him but, if you listen closely you can still here him moanin' & groanin') Jason starts the long trek back home, but gets sidetracked when he encounters a group of teenagers partying at a house they've rented for the weekend. If you've seen the first three "Friday" films you know old hockeypuck tries to make friends & fit in. It's all peace & love... not! Keep an out for Crispin Glover (the Creepy Thin Man from the "Charlie's Angels" films, as well as, in real life) & a pre-Michael Jackson victim / "Goonies", Corey Feldman as Tommy, the boy who is cut above Jason. As for the DVD release of the film, "Paramount Home Video" drops the ball again w/ 2.0 Dolby Digital, & no special features except for a trailer (not a special feature, retards).

Summary: An Entertaining Horror Film, Disapointing DVD
Review: The Friday the 13th films have always interested me. The movies themselves are scary but yet are devoid of a real plot,hammered by an extremely low budget,and have really no character development at all. But for some reason, people don't seem to mind this. The movies are entertaining enough,and having a very low budget only seems to make the movies feel more creepy. In Friday the 13th-The Final Chapter (yeah right!) there really isn't much more to add if you've seen the first 3 films. You know Jason is going to rise from the grave and kill some teenagers (or rather people in their mid 20's playing teenagers),and you know there is going to be a lot of gory, grisly deaths.

Makeup master Tom Savini returned for the last time in the series to create the films extermely disturbing death scenes. Young Corey Feldman appears as Tommy Jarvis, a 12 year old obsessed with video games and creating his own monster masks and makeup. When a group of teenagers rent the house next door to the Jarvis family, Jason returns to Crystal Lake to kill everyone. That's pretty much it plot wise, you see dumb teenagers going outside in the middle of the night by themselves to take a little midnight swim (take a guess at what happens to them..) This movie is a horror movie and follows the formula of dumb characters doing dumb things, but that's all part of the fun with these type of films, guessing how and who's going to die next.

The DVD itself is extremely disapointing with the bonus material being nothing more than a lame theatrical trailer. Even the transfer is a total let down. Has it improved from the VHS version of the movie? Sure, but not much. The image quality is in terms pathetic on how the movie could look compared to other films that have been digitally remastered. The sound is even worse. A flat mono track is the only availabe sound option. Thanks a lot Paramount. It amazes me how Paramount can produce a profitable franchise that was so sucsessful it has 8 (soon to be nine sequels) and not give it any special attention at all. Obviously if there are that many sequels made there is a huge number of loyal fans to these films who are given absoulutly nothing in return. Without the fans, this series would have ran out of steam a long time ago. Maybe someday the loyal fans of this series will get what they deserve. My applause goes to New Line Cinema who now holds the right to the franchise. Maybe someday they can buy the rights from Paramount and produce a collection similar to the outstanding Nightmare on Elm Street DVD collection. One can only hope. To sum up this very long review, the movie itself is worth watching, but spending over $20 on this bare bones DVD? Do yourself a favor and buy the VHS version for $9.99. This DVD would be better used as a coaster. Thanks for nothing Paramount!

Summary: Friday the Final? Not likely!
Review: Great installment in the series! Included in this movie areCrispin Glover (Best known as George McFly in Back to the Future), andCorey Feldman (best known for The Goonies, Stand By Me, and Gremlins). The opening montage of clips from the first three movies really sets up the stage for this new movie, where Jason regains consciousness in a morgue and makes his way back to the woods where he's live his entire life. This movie is also the beginning of an unofficial trilogy, consisting of 4, 5, & 6. Corey Feldman is the young hero who supposedly brings an end to Jason, though we all know that will not be the case. However, his performance as Tommy Jarvis is wonderful, and truly scary when he defeats Jason, though I won't say how. Crispin Glover is also good... who finally gets some, just before Jason gets him! As much as I hate to admit it, Randy Meeks (from Scream) was correct in his rules of the horror movies; Never have sex, never drink or do drugs, and NEVER say "I'll Be Right Back". It happens every single time, no matter if it's Jason, Freddy, or Michael! However, if this movie truly had been the finale, it would have most likely been the beginning of a new series involving a psycho Corey Feldman! That's something that might have been interesting . . .

Summary: The quintessential "Friday" movie.
Review: More than any other "Friday", "Final Chapter" hits every point that any "Friday" fan wants: hot babes who have no problem taking their clothes off, a really breezy plot, cool and interesting death scenes (a LOT of 'em), and Jason in his hockey mask looking next to invulnerable (though that last fact is supposedly changed at the end). This movie is a lot of fun, and the one that made me really like the series.
About the cast: Ted White isn't the best Jason; he's big without the brawler look of Kane Hodder, and seems to stumble around a bit, unlike Ken Kirzinger's near-elegant movements. Still, he get's the job done. Crispin Glover: it's fun seeing him here! You can already see George McFly in his early stages (and George McFly meeting with a corkscrew and a meat cleaver).
About the story: it's interesting that the writers tie one character, Rob, into another character from Part II (his sister Sandra whom Jason offs in bed). And while it's a bit of a downer that there's no supernatual element in this one, with Jason still technically being alive, well...good ol' Tommy Jarvis takes care of that for us.
If you like good, silly horror, this is great!

Summary: An entertaining slasher that goes back to its roots.
Review: "The Final Chapter" (a meaningless title), not to be confused with "The Final Friday" (the last film to date), finally returns the series to its original roots. Not exactly original, and technically just a rehash of the first three movies, but very entertaining, including a very threatening killer, which is a complete turnaround when you consider Jason's lumbering appearance in Parts 2 and III.

With "Final Chapter", Jason escapes from a hospital and marks a path of blood on his way back to his home habitat, Crystal Lake. Waiting for him are foolish teenagers who plan to spend a weekend partying and having premarital sex, and the Jarvis family, which features Corey Feldman as the protagonist, Tommy Jarvis. The idea of having a strong hero that you can route for this time around (other than Jason, who's supposed to be the bad guy), works surprisingly well, especially when you consider that he's a twelve-year-old boy. The humor pervading this film comes off as complete entertainment. And the greatest aspect of this fourth installment is the realization that Jason no longer fools around. The gruesome deaths are twice as graphic as they were in the past, and the make-up, done by returning artist Tom Savini, who provided the make-up effects for the original film, does an outstanding job.

Had this been indeed the final chapter, it would've been a great way to end the series. Needless to say, its many sequels, while they go off in several new directions, are just as entertaining, and represent the Jason Voorhees that fans have come to know and love. Great for crowds.

Summary: Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter
Review: I really enjoyed this one.The plot seemed like the directors actually thought about the plot and didn't just make it up as they went along.The plot is like this; some teenagers rent a cabin in the mountains near crystal lake.Across from them lives Tommy Jarvis (One of the Corey brothers; Ham or Feldman?) with his mom and older sister. Soon after they find out that Jason's body was stolen, but really he's out to get them.I like some of the death scenes, and the dialogue wasn't half bad.I also liked some of the humor and scares.Make sure to check this one out.Crispin Glover and Corey Feldman star in this, the fourth movie in the venerable FRIDAY THE 13TH series. Though most had written off the series by this installment, in retrospect this looks like it was the best of the series. First, Mr. Glover injects some much needed personality into the film as Jimmy, one of the many doomed teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake, and he seems to somehow make the other teens a little more entertaining, including Corey Feldman's Tommy, ostensibly the hero of the picture. Second, and perhaps most importantly, the gore effects her are done by the legendary Tom Savini (DAWN OF THE DEAD), who adds a level of inventiveness to the endless killings that the series hadn't yet experienced. Five more sequels followed.(7/10)

Summary: Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
Review: Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter, the fourth installment to this whole nightmare, picks up precisely where the last film left off, which is where JASON was supposedly killed. Ha, JASON dead? I don't think so. JASON is taken to the CRYSTAL LAKE MORGUE. Only two of the hospital staff is on the night shift: NURSE MORGAN and AXEL, the coroner. AXEL receives JASON's supposed dead body. He has him prepped for the icebox, but he is still waiting to be put in. AXEL goes off to flirt some more with NURSE MORGAN and invites her to the morgue around midnight. She comes in and finds all the lights off, but the T.V. is turned on showing an exercise program led by an attractive female instructor. AXEL surprises MORGAN from behind, but all she wants to do is watch the news. She turns on the news and it is said that JASON, who would be responsible for all the deaths that occurred during the week (which would be the murders from 2 and 3) is now dead and in the CRYSTAL LAKE MORGUE. MORGAN cheers happily and then starts making out with AXEL. While they are making out, JASON's hand falls out of the gurney and grasses MORGAN's leg. She jumps up and screams at AXEL. She leaves him alone to get on with her job. After she leaves, AXEL puts JASON in the icebox and shuts the door, but the door opens up as if it weren't closed all the way. AXEL sits down in front of the T.V. to watch the female exercise instructor, but he doesn't sit for long. JASON sneaks up behind him and slits his throat with a saw and then breaks his neck. JASON then goes into the medicine closet where NURSE MORGAN is. He grabs her by the throat and stabs her with a scalpel.

The next morning, we meet the JARVIS family. There's MRS. JARVIS and her two kids TRISH JARVIS (played by Kimberly Beck) and the 12-year old TOMMY JARVIS (played by Corey Feldman). TOMMY is an aficionado in horror films and horror movie make-up and has a talent for making frightening masks. While the three of them are in the kitchen, they find out that the house next door to them is being rented by six teenagers for the weekend. The six teens are DOUG, PAUL, TED, SARA, SAMANTHA 'SAM', and JIM (played by CRISPIN GLOVER in his pre-BACK TO THE FUTURE days). PAUL and SAM are in a steady relationship that's filled with sex. SARA is insecure about meeting men and DOUG is very attracted to her, TED is a guy who thinks he's so cool and thinks he can get any girl he wants, but he knows that he'll never get any girl he wants because of arrogance, and JIM is the kind of guy that is not all that great with women. As they continue on their way to the cabin, they pass by a female hitchhiker looking for a ride and a "good time". They, of course, pass on by like she is nothing. She sits back down and waits for the next ride that comes along. Little did the hitchhiker know that she just saw the last ride because JASON has a bone to pick with her.

The next night, the six are on their way to the lake and as they walk, they run into two sexy twin sisters named TINA and TERI. The twins decide to join the other six and they go on their way. They get to the lake and decide to skinny dip. TRISH and TOMMY arrive and the lake. The two get invited to the teens' party they'll be having that night. Back in the car, TRISH and TOMMY go on their way back home until the car breaks down. TOMMY gets out to fix it until a guy named ROB comes up and offers to help. TRISH offers to give him a lift. ROB says he's out hunting for bear, but he's not hunting bear. He's hunting JASON. TRISH drives him to her house to meet her mother.

The party begins next door. TINA is openly flirting with just about every guy in the house. She starts off with TED, but rejects him. She then aims for PAUL. This makes SAM jealous, so she goes off for a little swim. As she undresses, she keeps calling out for PAUL, but he doesn't answer. She swims into the lake and finds an empty raft. She climbs in and calls PAUL one last time and then she meets her demise. PAUL rejects TINA and goes out to find SAM, but he finds her dead. JASON then adds PAUL to the list. TINA goes for JIM and the two head upstairs for some "fun". TERI decides to leave, but TINA isn't going anywhere. TERI leaves without her, but ends up with a spear in her back. DOUG and SARA go take a shower together, but not for long, for DOUG gets his face crushed, for SARA gets an axe to the chest. JIM ends up with a cleaver in his face and TINA ends up being thrown out of a window and TED ends up with a knife in the back of his head. MRS. JARVIS is killed off-screen and ROB ends up with a gardening tool in his head.

TRISH runs back to TOMMY, who is trying to fool JASON by dressing up like him. At that moment, TRISH grabs JASON's machete and uses it to take off JASON's mask. TOMMY picks up the machete and bludgeon's JASON with it.

I did not say this was actually the final chapter. The title means nothing. Paramount Pictures wouldn't end JASON's bloody legacy only after four films. So put your camping gear down and get ready to watch JASON take more prey.

Review: although it has casted decent actors like Criper Gloven and Corey Feldman it hardly a movie worth seeing in any respect unless you are a abid horror fan.
