Summary: terrible
Review: THIS MOVIE TRIED TO BE SCARY BUT IT WASNT. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE IT TWO STARS IS BECAUSE OF THE BEGINNING WHEN EVERYONE IS CHOPPED UP. OVERALL THE MOVIE IS LOUSY AND DULL.

Summary: National Lampoon's The Thirteen Ghosts Go To Sea
Review: True statements:

1. No one forced me to watch this film.

2. Ghosts like wearing 40's outfits and smoking cigarettes with long cigarette holders.

3. Ghosts like making new ghosts cause they're very sociable.

4. Ghosts are neatnicks. They may fill up a swimming pool with blood but are always quick and polite to completely clean up their messes afterwards with nary a drop of blood in site.

5. Ghosts stare at you.

6. A lot.

7. Ghosts are considerate hosts. If they kill someone they wait until that person is alone so their screams of terror will not bother the other "guests".

8. This film was silly.

Summary: The Hate Boat
Review: For as long as man has slapped together sturdy, seaworthy craft and pitched out across the Earth's black seas, there have been legends of ghost ships, tales of brigantines and merchant-men that have disappeared, only to turn up months or years later: abandoned, no sign of struggle, decks left neat, hatches battened, crew gone. The tale of old Captain Van der Gelder and his Flying Dutchman haunted the minds of sea captains and inspired an opera by Richard Wagner, and maritime legendry is rich with tales of the Marie Celeste (which plays a brief role in this film), the Andrea Doria, and even the Titanic, which has become a ghost ship of sorts, its supple staterooms hosting sea-slugs and sharks instead of tycoons.

With this in mind, I was looking forward to "Ghost Ship", which has all the ingredients of a good haunted house story: a mysterious (and shocking, right from the lurid opening sequences) tragedy aboard the Italian luxury ocean-liner Antonia Graz; the sighting of the monstrous, rusting hulk in the Bering Strait 40 years after its disappearance; and a slap-dash rush by a band of salvagers to get to the hulk and tow it back to port in Anchorage. Oh, not to mention the fact that the movie is helmed by Steve Beck, who may not be the most profound director, but as 13 Ghosts proved, is not a fellow who is shy about gore.

So you've got a haunted ghost ship in the north Pacific, you've got great shiploads of goop in the cargo hold, you've got a nasty little decades-old sub-plot of murder and greed and treachery, and you've got some excellent actors (among them Gabriel Byrne and Julianna Margulies). What's not to like about "Ghost Ship"?

Actually, there's a lot to like about this little film, which is sleek, well-shot, occasionally very creepy, has solid acting and a decent story, and possibly the most masterful gore-effects I've seen in the last 5 years. And best of all, most of the gore and special effects is hand-made, and (blessedly!) not the cheap CGI that ruined other enjoyable creature features like "Deep Rising".

When the salvage team boards the rusting Antonia Graz, all the lifeboats are gone, as well as the anchors---and that's not all. The story itself seems to have been jettisoned: while there is a nasty little plot (the tale of betrayal and murder is well told and awfully grisly), once the salvage guys turn up the movie turns into a little supernatural murder-by-numbers flick, so predictable that you can guess who is going to get it---and when, and how. And the climax, which should have been terrifying, seems grafted on; besides which the villain, who should have been literally diabolic (perhaps Gabriel Byrne?), is far too bland to be frightening.

But let's get back to why "Ghost Ship" merits a look: the special effects in the movie are visionary, some of the best I've seen in a horror film. There is a little nugget in the DVD extras called "A closer look at the Gore" which is worth the price of admission alone. And really, the opening sequence is worth the price of admission: it is incredibly well done and brilliantly edited, an entire sequence in which director Beck probably stepped away from the camera and gave the film over to the special effects guys. The scene is so lurid, so gory, and so disturbing, that I found myself still thinking about it days after I saw the movie. If you've seen "13 Ghosts" and remember what Beck did with the lawyer, this is about 100 times as good (or bad, depending on your gore-threshold).

All in all, "Ghost Ship" is a great little nugget of gloriously gory horror that is slightly undermined by a story that feels cobbled together. The movie isn't frightening, but it is stylish. Like most modern cruises, "Ghost Ship" is great for a visit---but you wouldn't want to live there.

Summary: Now THIS is a horror movie..
Review: Ghost Ship is one of the bloodiest horror movies in recent years. Watch the first fifteen minutes and you'll see why. The story is not that exceptional: a salvage crew is hired by a mysterious person to recover a long lost luxury cruise ship.

Of course everything is not as it seems; the crew is stranded on the cruise ship, a "treasure in gold" is discovered along with the truth about what happened to the ship's crew and passengers.

Ghost Ship is not perfect, but it is worth watching.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: Even though this movie was not like the original Ghost Ship movie made in the late 60's-early 70's, it was an awesome movie. The actresses Margulies, and Francesca Rittondini were very beautiful. The movie had a great story line and the ending was excellent. Good special effects too.

Best part of the movie was when that little ghost-girl took the character back into time to tell how everyone died on that ship. Good club music at that particular scene and very macabre.

Summary: Gory But FUN!!!
Review: Ghost Ship is one of SCARIEST movies I have seen. The oppening scene begins on a luxurious boat named Antonia Graza.
There are couples dancing away when a steel line cuts through the couples and cuts them in half, dismembers them, or decapitates them. The only survivor is a girl named Katie.
Forty years later after that gory night in 1962. A group of salvagers find the ship. Thay are talking about towing it back to port. Then weird things happen. Like a little girl in the Grand Ballroom, a voice singing to Greer, or blood filling up a pool. Then deaths come. First comes Greer. Then the crew does not care about the ship or it's cargo, but of their lives.
Katie's ghost then shows what happenned that fateful night. How everyone died, includidng her. Epps the meets the demon who kiled everyone on board. Then the ship sinks due to a explosion. Epps is the only survivor.
I wonder why everyone says this is a bad video. It is pretty good.

Summary: You'll probably either love it or hate it.
Review: This movie would seem to start with a good premise, and it certainly starts with a good scene, but somewhere along the line it just falls flat. In the tradition of Virus and Deep Rising, a small group of people on an ocean-going tug discover a large, seemingly abandoned ship, and go aboard to explore. However, Virus and Deep Rising worked because our characters were up against foes that they could conceivabley escape from. In this movie, where there are supernatural ghosts on the ship, the viewer knows for certain that there's no chance of escape until the ghosts are defeated. Unfortunately, this makes all their attempts at salvage and later escape rather tedius. And when they find a large stash of gold on the ship, and the happy version of the theme song plays, and they start discussing how rich they all will be, well, the tedium grows to annoying proportions.

Also, there's the problem with the characters. They're not very likeable, in fact they don't seem to like each other very much (even though we're told several times in expository dialogue that they're as close as a family). At one point, I was rooting for the ghosts to kill one of the characters because he'd become quite annoying, and happily he was soon dispatched.

This movie is part action adventure, part horror; a combination that has been used to great effect many times, but in this outing it just doesn't work. The two plots work against each other, not together, as you know that their efforts are pointless and find yourself wishing they'd just get on with confronting the ghosts.

However, if you're one of those people who jumps out of your seat every time something unexpected appears on screen, you'll probably like this movie, as there is plenty of that. The atmosphere is also quite scary. So, some people may like this film quite a bit. For me though, it just didn't work.

Summary: Wondefully Fun B horror film
Review: Cheesy? Yeah. In some spots. Original? Not necessarily. Fun? Yeah! The old haunted house on a doomed and abandoned luxury liner. Some good jolts, great FX, fun music and sound. Really good for what it is. If you are looking for mindless, gory entertainment - this is a good fix. The opening: Great!!!

Summary: ehhhh
Review: Well ... this is the second movie that Steve Beck has made for Dark Castle Pictures, the first being the god-awful 13 Ghosts remake, and I have to say he's getting better. You CAN actually see him progressing as a director.

Don't get me wrong it's still not a very good movie, but it's not like there isn't improvement. Beck is working with a much better cast this time out, the story isn't quite as ridiculous as '13 Ghosts' was, and Beck does a credible job generating some spooky moments and tension.

"Not Terrible" is probably the best stamp I could put on it. I'm not sure I could recommend buying a copy, but you could probably rent it without feeling ripped-off.
