Review: i like this mvie because its the kind of movie that stays in your end for days afterwards. the perfomances of the two kids a great. however i felt it was a teeny bit predictable i could guess most of the big suprises.

Review: if you are looking for pulse-pounding nailbiter, you needn't look any further. i am almost willing to bet money that you won't find a more disturbing psychological thriller anywhere this year. frailty is easily the most bone chilling film of this year or many more to come perhaps and it's sadly being dismissed by critics and audiences everywhere for no apparent reason. i walked into this film not knowing what to expect and was held captive the entire time. bill paxton has unearthed a film which startle you, provoke you, and leave you squirming in your seat with fear. although the film is not very gory, the shocks here come a plenty and frailty will most likely appeal to many horror fans out there and well as fanatics of psychological dramas. excellent performances are given by the entire cast here including bill paxton, matthew mcconaughey,and powers boothe which gives the already demented story an extra boost which is much needed here given the central theme of the story. i do highly recommend you check this one out even if it means waiting for dvd. frailty is rated r for horror violence and some occasional profane language. definately not intended for the young audiences. watch this one when granny and the kids are as far away as humanly possible.

Review: Would I murder someone if God told me to? That's a tough question. But that's what this movie asks. Were the people they killed really demons or were they just crazy? If they were demons were their murders justified? I'll be thinking about this movie for a long time. Great movie.

Summary: Mind Bending, Provacative and Tastefully Done
Review: "Frailty" has to be one of the best movies of 2002 and it's still early in the year! I don't say that frivolously either. It's a movie that has you sitting at the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. When it doesn't happen, you're caught by surprise and it has you guessing next. If you are the type that likes to think through the movie experience instead of having it predictable, this is for you! I don't believe in giving out the plot or antecdotes of a movie, but I do like to share my experience.The movie is set in Texas today with flashbacks (through first person story telling) to the 70's. The sets seem authentic as do the characters. The movie never truly gets gory for a thriller as you never actually watch violence occur though you know it is happening. That doesn't occur very often anymore and it's certainly refreshing! In addition, you never know what the truth is and it isn't until the end of the movie that you are caught flabbergasted! The acting was excellent all around. I was expecting Matthew McConaughey to have a much bigger role but it was the child actors that made the movie work! The movie had my wife and me along with friends talking about various religious themes long after it was over. It certainly gives you food for thought! I recommend it to all those who are not prudish and have biases towards religious themes as this one is chock-full of it. If that's the case, don't bother. As soon as it's available on DVD, it will be added to my collection!

Summary: ONE OF THE YEARS BEST
Review: It was awesome. I have no idea why people say it was predictable. I mean during the movie I THOUGHT i knew what was going to happen but somthing else whih was a big surprise happened. It was defently jaw-dropping. FRAILTY is a fantastic movie that is so good it one of the years 5 best. GO SEE IT!

Summary: My favorite movie so far in 2002!
Review: This movie combines great acting, dialogue, and story to make one of the best films of the year that most people don't even know it exists. I see about 6 movies a month on an average and I have to say this is the best I've seen this year. This movie is very dark and extremely intense. I also liked all the twists towards the end. This movie has the total package for a thriller and will likely remain in the top ten of the year. GO SEE IT SOON.

Summary: A Very Good, Solid Movie
Review: Frailty is an excellent movie, very scary. It has a great plot that keeps you wondering right up to the credits. Bill Paxton shocked me, I wasn't aware of what an amazing actor and director he is. Of course if it weren't for the master of horror himself Stephen King, this movie would not be what it is (scary as hell). BUT beware it is very trying on your nerves and it is VERY repetative. I saw several people walking out of the movie do to some of the disturbing scenes.

Summary: Excellent Movie, Unfortunate Title.....
Review: First things first- Frailty is possibly one of the worst names in Movie history. God's Hand would have been a MUCH better name, but I suspect that fear of the Religious-Right might have something to do with that. Oh well... To tell much about the plot of Frailty would be dangerous, as the Film packs some nifty surprises into it's storyline... From there, the story unfolds in flashbacks, as we see McConaughey and his brother as children, raised by their Dad (Their Mother died in childbirth), a hard-working auto-mechanic. Everything is great, until one day, Dad has a vision. An Angel appears, telling him that he and his boys have been chosen to be "God's Hands on Earth", killing Demons disguised as Humans. God will send them 3 weapons, and lists of the Demon's names. Soon, Dad and his boys are doing God's work, with lead pipes, axes, etc. I'll stop here, because after the set-up, the film goes off into some surprising and thought-provoking territory. Bill Paxton is great as the Dad (He directed as well, and did a superb job!), and the two young actors who play the children were amazing. So much of the film revolves around them, and none of it would have been believeable with your typical Hollywood Moppets in the roles. Great casting. Squeamish moviegoesr shouldn't be put off by the axe-murder premise; Everything happens off-screen. Frailty is more of a psychological-thriller than a "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"-style gorefest. I saw the movie hours ago, and I'm still running over it in my mind. You'll leave the theater with a lot to think about, and I think that Frailty, like The Sixth Sense, needs to be seen more than once to fully appreciate the nuances of plot and direction that are hidden away during the initial viewing. A superb effort from Mr. Paxton!

Summary: Who's on first?
Review: This movie is a very entertaining venture that keeps you guessing throughout. Just when you think you have the whole thing figured out a new twist arrives and you find yourself thinking "What was that?" "Is he or isn't he?" I totally enjoyed Bill Paxton's directorial first. All the stars were extremely believeable in their characters and you leave the theater wondering if you actually saw what you thought you saw. GOOD MOVIE!!!

Summary: The Sum is less than the parts
Review: Bill Paxton has had a diverse and an overall excellent career string of quirky, serious and comedic roles. But in his self directed "Frailty" it is just these qualities that set up doubt and frankly a lack of supension of disbelief in the portrayal of his character, "Dad." His mildly laconic, non satiric portrayal works against the far-fetched film's central conceit: "Dad," while repairing a car, sees an angel who directs him to kill demons; many of whom are citizens of his own town. Also,as a way of including his son's (Fenton and Adam) in the enterprise he inlists their help with the murders. Of the two, Adam is the "believer": the one who buys into his father's quest wholeheartedly. Fenton, on the other hand, is the doubter.
The manner in which this story is told is fascinating because it's all done in flashbacks with Matthew McConaughey playing a grown up Fenton, who after the death of his brother goes to an FBI agent, Powers Booth to relate the aforementioned story and to attribute a current series of murders, which the newspapers have dubbed the "Hands of God Murders"to his brother, Adam.
Paxton as director does a fine job creating and sustaining a sense of deep forboding very much in the manner of Kubrick in "The Shining" rather than Hitchcock in "Psycho"for example.
But Paxton should have assigned his role of "Dad" to McConaughey because McConaughey would have brought a dead serious earnestness that the role needs in order to overcome it's sheer audacity and that of the plot. As it is, we are doubting the seriousness of the "Dad" character and subsequently the movie as a whole because Paxton's built-in sly humor and dead-pan delivery spoils our believing "Dad" after his revelation of the angel's visit.
The story is a first rate one though with plot revelations and twists sure to surprise: before the supposed "Demons" are killed they are touched, with bare hands and their crimes are revealed in flash backs once again. It's audacious and extraordinary cinema.
Even though Bill Paxton has done a great job of directing and setting up a milieu of mayhem, religious fervor and retribution he still needs to step back and think carefuuly if he is the right person for any particular part. In this case he did not chose wisely. But nonethess, "Frailty"is a major debut of a major talent: not as outstanding as the much neglected "Session 9" perhaps but almost.
