Summary: Didn't get what I expected...
Review: I expected something stupid, with awful acting, no budget and [bad] special effects. But, I was surprised to see that it was entertaining, terrifying, it had pretty good acting, a reasonable budget and good special effects. In fact, these things were not the interest of the film. In a film of 4 hours, you quit, or you don't, I did not. There's a town on a little island, and the population is pretty happy. But one day, a mysterious man kills an old woman in her house. They arrest the guy...but this guy is not a human. This monster has many powers such as making an incredible storm, and controlling people from a great distance and make them do things they wouldn't do...and this demon finally gets out of the jail, and captures the 8 children who live in the town (including the hero's son). And this event makes the population of this town face a big decision...you'll know what it is if you watch the film. Don't quit after the first hour, because there are always new elements that keep you watching it. It has such a great and scary atmosphere, it is pretty creepy. Its length is extremely enjoyable, because you get four hours of great story, setting and characters. Definitely worth watching. Very good film.

Summary: The Monsters are the Townspeople!
Review: This King miniseries certainly has its good and bad points, but don't they all? The weakest part of this movie is its slow pace. An hour could easily have been cut from it with no loss. But so many seem to miss the point. When the people meet in the Townhall, and our villain reveals what he wants, it is at this point the movie turns shocking to me. Without spoiling the outcome for the few who have not seen it or don't know of the climax, I will say it is chilling that the people of this town decide to give in to evil. Though the Constiple tries in vain to get them to "stand against him together and with God", the people prove too weak to do so. To me when they give Lonage "what he wants", they sell their souls in the process. I think that this is the real theme of the movie.

Review: Before i saw it my favorite show was Stephen King's It. The only thing I would've changed about it to make it more exciting is that Mr. lingoge would've killed more people. None-the-less I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't give much more info without giving the whole movie away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Awesome thriller!
Review: When I first saw this movie, I didn't think it would be too scary...until I got caught off-guard with Andre Linoge's totally black eyes. From there, my eyes were glued to the screen, waiting for the next murder, dissapearance, another deep dark secret of an islander to be told, and Linoge's eyes and teeth to change. From, "Born in lust, turn to dust. Born in sin, come on in." to "Give me what I want and I'll go away." everything Linoge says sends chills through your mind. This movie is ominously scary and is great for anyone who likes their horror films black with no sugar.

Summary: Not so scary but a great movie
Review: Ok it wasnt that scarie of a movie but i thought it was great anyways. The whole movie will have you wondering what he wants of course i wasnt wondering cause i was told what he wanted. You just gotta see this movie for yourself its hard to review it without giving the whole movie away,which can make it scarier for you. I think the ending is good maybe they could have oh im not gonna say it. It was really good movie and thats why im giving it 5 stars

Summary: Climax Letdown
Review: For some reason, Stephen King's movies from the last 15 years lack the substance and horror found in his more earlier works (i.e. Carrie, Christine, The Shining, etc). Perhaps the quality of the cast and crew has declined. Who can forget Stanley Kubrick's The Shining starring a menacing Jack Nicholson or John Carpenter's Christine with its creepy soundtrack? Or maybe King's stories are best intended as psychological thrillers meant to be left to the reader's imagination. Sad to say, Storm of the Century at best represents a mediocre tale. It's main flaw lies in its story. Two scenes in particular stand out. One concerns the true identity of the sinister Andre Linoge. The townspeople discover what Linoge really is but never use this secret to defeat him. Mediocre films such as Dracula 2000 and Jason Goes to Hell use the formula of discovering the true identity of the villain to defeat him. King may have revealed Linoge's identity to provide more credibility as a monster but it really acts as filler material with no purpose. Linoge could have just remained a mysterious stranger with incredible powers and evil intentions and still have remained a formidable antagonist. The second scene involves a murder between two lovers. One lover kills the other through the manipulation of Lenoge and then the murderer continues through the rest of the story as if that person made a simple mistake. This just lacks credibility because that character automatically becomes linked to Lenoge once he/she committed that heinous crime. Storm basically forgets that character through the rest of the story. Despite the lack of ramifications for this scene, it superbly foreshadows a similar situation for Storm's climax. Storm of the Century lacks the punch of excellent horror fare. The story possesses many flaws and its rather abrupt ending may disappoint viewers. Worth a view for experimenters and King gurus.

Summary: Finally A King Film You Can Watch ...
Review: ...without wanting to smash your tv-set. This movie had to be good, because Stephen King himself wrote the screenplay - which was an original screenplay and no adaptation from one of his story. King wrote this sinister little tale especially for ABC television and I have to admit, that beside the fact that it is a good story for a cold night, snow piling up outside, it is a very good mvie as well. I loved the actors, the filming and just every minute of the 4-hour mini-series. I even watched the whole thing just listening to Stephen King's commentary (although I skipped the parts director Craig Baxley commented) - the commentary was as good as the movie itself, because it was not some poor strawhat talking about something, but Stephen King doing what he can do best: not commenting, but telling. Stephen King gives very delightful inside-information on the making of the movie and talks about works related to this movie, how he came across the idea for the story (it was partly influenced by a play by Friedrich Dürenmatt King had a part in when being in High School), how he tried to work it out, stuff like that. So this is a very interesting bonus for every Stephen King fan: you get a very good movie and a very fine commentary by Stephen King, with all the information and all the amusing details 'n' extras. Story's Rough Cut: Small town off the coast of Maine, Little Tall Island, the setting of "Dolores Claiborne" - "life on the island is different from the life on the mainland." Stranger makes the small township aware of his evil presence by murdering an old woman, Martha Clarendon, and therefore arrested - "because I choose," as the stranger, André Linoge, claims. Linoge knows all the dirty little secrets of the clean-shirted islanders and he wants what he inevites, unless he will not go away. What exactly Linoge wants, you have to find out for yourselves, sorry. It is worth finding out, believe me, just this one time! ;-) Let me finish with a praise for the movie by some newspaper I do not remember, "it is a high-voltage, spine-tingling shocker, which has been called one of the best King films ever!" It sure is.

Review: The people couldn't act. Maybe if they got real actors and made a real movie it could have been something, And the demon eyes weren't scary. I could make a scarier movie than this with my two best friends, my boyfriend, a flashlight and a hand-held camra ifi had a week to spend in the woods.

Summary: Unfortunate Ending
Review: I was terribly disappointed to sit for 3+ hours only to get such a thrown together ending. It made no sense. The whole movie you are left wondering what this supernatural being could want and the answer is too mundane. I came up with better ideas about what he could want such as the town secrets which they hold onto so tightly. But the first 3 hours are good movie watching if you don't mind the terrible ending. The speculation is the best part anyway.

Review: "Give me what I want and I'll go away", states the inhuman stranger that has "Little Tall Island" in his grasp durning the blizzard known as "The Storm of the Century". A chilling, suspensefull, and thought provoking mini-series written by Stephen King. Certainly one of King's best, over (4) hrs. in length, but well worth the time.
