Rating: Summary: Scared the Hell out of me! Review: This movie did it's job as a horror film. Scared a twenty old like me. I was so scared I stayed up all night watching cartoons and looking over my shoulder. I even saw the Jackal in my bed. Too creepy! People who shouldn't see this movie or any horror film:If you believe in Ghosts steer clear. If you have an overactive imagination beware, you won't stop looking over your shoulder. If you're a big kid don't even think about, This movie isn't intended for the faint hearted or overtly sensitive adults. And remember keep telling yourself it's only movie. right?
Rating: Summary: Horrible!!!! Review: I have no sympathy to any of the characters in this movies. They are so annoying! Too bad the ghosts didn't make micemeat out of them. The character Athur's childrens are basically brats. They acted like they were living a rich life in the past and later Athur claimed he was just a Math teacher. Hmmmm... I'm sorry but this movie was just too confusing. All his bills were "past due" and he can afforted to hire a maid? Save your money. Rent it but DON'T BUY IT!
Rating: Summary: Getting There Review: Ok, so the advent of remakes is on it's way and where it ends, who can say? If you grew up with William Castle, lived through the Slasher movies and find yourself stagger- ing through the over-indulgent CGI-effects movies and wonder where the good old creepy feeling went...well, 13 Ghost gets ya closer than most. The CGI effect are masterfully blending with existing sets and you'll find it hard to tell where it ends or begins. The whole aspect of the house was unique and it is a 'must see' just for the house itself. My only gripe is the line-up of the Ghost, I really dug the Jackel and thought that he was a lot more threatening than the Heavy Metal Spike-Head, and the Lurch/serial killer-Juggernaut...but my favorite was the Beauty with the knife...She needs to be seen, and is pretty creepy. The Gore is a little too high, but at least the CGI was'nt there to replace the attitude! Keith (can't wait for them to do Macabre!)
Rating: Summary: Truly disturbing Review: Thirteen Ghosts. I've never been so shakey after seeing a horror movie. This movie was so scarey I had to turn it off. The those ghosts are so demonic looking and they look tortured I kind of felt sorry for those angry spirits. I couldn't into any mirrors at night. I practicly had to meditate on other things to sleep at night. I kept seeing that lady with the vise on her head standing over my bed every now and then. If you're a big chicken. Let your friends know when it's too much.
Rating: Summary: Not better than Jeepers Creepers but Damn Good!!! Review: I thought this movie causght a lot of the essence of a good horror movie. Its more gory than any 1980's horror movie, its got pretty good acting, the special effects are awesome and gross at the same time, the monsters( ghost i mean) are freakin awesome. This movie delivers on scare value totally. A good flick that could be better. rent it before u buy it!!!
Rating: Summary: Could Have Been Much Better Review: 13 Ghosts could have been a much better film if they had spent a little more time and energy in the storyline and script. They had the good idea (well actually they ripped that off from the original), but reworking that script wasn't a bad idea. However, they didn't pull it off too well. The acting wasn't too bad for the actors that were in it. Shannon Elizabeth has obviously never ben known for immense acting talent and Matthew Lillard who comes off ok for a psycho. The thing I hated most about this movie was that they never went in depth about anything. We got to see about 20 feet of the house before hell started to break loose, and barely any time is spent on charcter development at all. (i.e. the woman that shows up 3/4 through the movie already in the house) Could have been done much better! The good things: The reason I gave this any stars was because the special effects on the ghosts were pretty entertaining. That woman with a box on her head was the best. Creepy and silly at the same time. Also, the twist at the end comes as kind of a surprise, it's not that it's that ridiculously surprising, it's just that you don't really think it's the kind of movie that would have a twist like that. All in all, nothing more than a renter.
Rating: Summary: A new standard for horror DVDs. Review: The DVD for "13 Ghosts" is one of the best horror dvds that I've ever seen. This is a must have for fans of the film. My favorite part was the special feature with the background stories of each of the ghosts seen in the film--very interesting (this part of the dvd is actually almost better than the movie itself). Lots of cool production stuff too. I love the movie and I adore this dvd!
Rating: Summary: Suspense and horror done well Review: There are certain criteria in every horror movie that need to be met in order for it to be a good horror movie. 1. Recycled plot 2. Gore 3. Campy dialogue 4. No long lingering looks at the bad guy 5. The ever popular don't go in there scene This is why Thirteen Ghosts in my opinion far exceeded the cirtically acclaimed Jeepers Creepers. In this movie the spirits trapped in the basement are given just enough screen time to be identified, yet we are not allowed to sit and study them. I was made to jump many times durring this movie, and loved every minute of it. It's sad that it didn't do as well as the dissapointing Jeepers Creepers.
Rating: Summary: Burn, Hollywood, Burn Review: Yikes! What a complete waste of time. The scariest thing about this movie is the knowledge that there are several more bona-fide William Castle classics for these hacks at "Dark Castle Entertainment" to butcher. Wrap your short-attention spans around this: The original 13 GHOSTS is available on DVD, and even preserves the gimmick of the "ghost viewers" so you can choose whether or not to see the spirits. Knowing that, there is no reason to even see this pitiful new version.
Rating: Summary: Gross out horror/thriller/waste! Review: This movie was way too sick, too even waste writing a review on. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars was because of the following: Acting: 1 Star Storyline: 2 Stars Special Effects: 5 stars Gore Level: Pretty darn high! There you go! My overall grade is 3 stars. Most of the time, I just rate the movie pending on the acting and storyline, but if it has special FX, then I add that and if there's a big amount of gore, I add that so, if you add the storyline and acting together you get 3. The FX were an added bonus. DON'T EAT BEFORE YOU WATCH THIS, BECAUSE MOST LIKELY YOU WILL THROW UP DURING THE MOVIE!
