Summary: Fantastic Story-telling
Review: This film is a "modern" adaptation of the popuar fairy tale and is one of the best I've seen. This film is more for teens and adults than small children, but is reflective of the true story. The acting, makeup, costumes, and sets are incredible for a film that didn't get much actual screen-play and is definately worth viewing. It's beome one of my favorite fantasy films!

Summary: The Gothic Snow White!
Review: Welcome to the wonderful world of fairy tales! This film takes us back to the dark origin of fairy tales.Sigourney Weaver is marvelous as the evil and creepy step-mother Claudia. She steals every scene and definantly paints the step-mother character in a truly dark veil.The actress who plays Lillians(Snow White) is wonderful and fabulous once she meets up with 'the dwarfs.'The setting is surreal and dark. A must-see for this dark interpretation of a classic fairy tale.You'll never read the words "Once Upon a Time," quite the same again.

Summary: Mmm, delicious!
Review: The lush, surreal cinematography and the painstaking depiction of medieval life make this movie a must-see for SCA members and fans. True, the production is a little overblown for what is basically a campy frolic. But Sigourney Weaver is so-o-o-o delightful as the evil stepmother! Sorry, folks, I have a hard time considering this a tale of terror. Best moment: Weaver's performance as the old hag with the poisoned apple. Campiest moment: "What have you done?" (I can just hear her say "I'm melting!"). Worst moment: rescuing the father - he really should have already been dead. There are some other holes as well, but overall the movie is definitely worth seeing.

Summary: "Mirror mirror on the wall"
Review: This is apparently the Brothers Grimm fable of Snow White before Christian Andersen got his hands on it. Cloaked thickly with an oppressive, dark atmosphere, the film succeeds by drawing deep, fearful uncertainty from its ambiguity. You know the story - beautiful Queen wishes for a daughter with skin as white as snow, hair as black as ebony, lips as red as blood. The Queen dies, the husband remarries a beautiful and incredibly vain woman and both Snow White and Evil Queen loathe each other on sight. Snow White flees into the forest to escape from death and the Evil Queen is dogged in her attempts to annihilate her beauteous step-dauther. Weaver is terrific as the stepmother soaked in psychosis; Keena perfect as the alluring Snow White on the verge of womanhood. Impressive Czech locations and an eerie, desolate castle work well, and the story is flighted in almost dream-like fashion. Recommended for those who like atmospheric, gothic horror movies.

Summary: gothic horror at it's best
Review: Based on the Grimm brother's original version of the fairy tale (which was never meant for children), SNOW WHITE is a delicious gothic thriller pulled off by a superlative cast.Sigourney Weaver plays the evil Queen Claudia, who begins a reign of terror over her beautiful step-daughter Lili (Monica Keena). After banishing Lili into the Black Forest, Claudia descends further and further into madness. She will do anything to remain the fairest of them all...... Monica Keena again displays why she is one of the most promising young actresses around today. She has also been in WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING and the Hallmark movie THE OKSANA BAIUL STORY. Also starring Sam Neill and Gil Bellows, SNOW WHITE is truly a real tale of terror. Definately not for children.

Summary: Dark magic
Review: Sigourney Weaver makes a wicked stepmother that would scare even Hannibal. This is a role that she clearly had fun with. She is a convincingly evil and complex villain who paves the way for a very dark fairy tale. She is human - and some of her impulses are all too understandable - what woman wouldn't want to give a child to a husband she loves (in the age she lived in)? Then again, she is also a witch. The performances of younger actors, Snow White and her darling, are not as wonderful - they seem to be there mostly for the scenery. Then again, this movie is mostly about scenery, of particular kind: blood, guts, hearts, and poisoned apples (how could I forget about that!) It's a good, well-executed horror movie that is only on the surface rooted in an innocent children's tale. I recommend it as a quirky, original change of pace. If nothing else, it's the definition of unusual.

Summary: Snow White-something entirely different!
Review: How did I miss this when it was originally released? I am a great fan of horror/suspense movies and this is right up there with the best of them!! This somewhat gruesome version of the classic fairly tale is completely engrossing-if you don't mind seeing everything you believed about fairy tales dispelled! Most of us remember the stories of our childhood as simple tales of good vs. evil with the lines clearly drawn but that is not so clear in this version. Sure, Sigourney Weaver is ultimately quite wicked but she's a little sympathetic and sad, too. I came across this during Halloween week and I'm glad I took the time to give it a chance!

Summary: Alluring, beautiful and odd
Review: I saw Snow White-A Tale of Terror a few times and each time I enjoy it more. I am a little sad that I sold it although as I had an impulse to do so and now I regret it. I am not very fond of the horror of it, but I am fond of the beauty in the film, the setting of the forests and Lilliana's clothing. There were times when things were said in the film which made me think of a modern day saying. It could have been better if the wording and the script was written with more grace and introspection of that time and age. It was almost as if it was modern but with the old-fashioned scenery and forests. It could have been developed more. Otherwise if the script were to change this would be a favorite of mine. Summary: Excellent gothic movie!
Review: My title might seem a bit odd since I gave the movie 4 stars instead of 5. My only complaint with this movie is that Sam Neil does not have a bigger part. The girl whom plays Snow White,i.e., Lilli, does a comendable job. The social issues brought up where a bit out of place: This is after all a fairy tale and and not social documantary. Sigourney Weaver is an actress that perfectly fits the evil step mother whom sells her soul whilst the small part that Sam Neil is given is well played. A little bit more magic would not have hurt the movie either: as it was kind of sparse with special effects.

Summary: A solid three- excellent acting, and beautiful filming.
Review: Snow White Tale of Terror is an exceptional movie in many ways. The first is the performances of Gil Bellows, and Sigourney Weaver. Sigourney portrays the evil step-mother beautifully, form her initial kindness shown towards Lilli (Snow White is renamed Lilliana), and her hatred after she blames Lilli from her child being still born. She exudes depth and darkness and hate. She never overdoes it, but adds the right amount of mysterious intrigue, with the right amount of physicaly violence. Gil Bellows is another strong actor, protraying an ''excommunicated'' dwarf named Will beautifully. He is mysteriously quiet, and strangely haunting as a man scarred by fire having watched his family crucified by Crusaders. (This takes place in the 1330s). He is heartbreaking. Monica Keena does a good job as Lillianna, quite a contrast to her other roles. She plays a spoiled rich girl, who changed upon meeting Will. All in all, this film is dark, gothic, horror-filled, yet mysteriously sweet at time (the relationship between Lilli and WIll as an example). It's the true version of a classic fairytale, which manages to remain right in the middle ground of a horror story and a fairy tale.
