Summary: "Kane Hodder should have played Michael..."
Review: Well, I liked the music in it, it was really good, but, sadly, it lacks a lot of Michael Myers. What I mean is, it doesn't show his face/mask a lot. Plus, Michael Myers is just plain looking, Jason and Freddy are more dead and scarier than this. But, the score was great, and the whole concept was good. Another thing, the body count was too low! Jason usually takes out 10 to 20 people in every one of his movies. And plus, Michael Myers should have been played by Kane Hodder, than he would have been a lot creepier than whoever plays Myers now. Jamie Lee Curtis was an extremely bad actor, and her voice was just too manly! So, I'd really only recommend this because you need to watch it to understand the whole concept and because it has an excellent score, but if you understand the whole thing already (I mean, before seeing any of the movies) than do not watch this.

Summary: "Purely and simply......evil"
Review: John Carpenter's classic horror/slasher film comes to DVD, like you've never seen Halloween before. It was a cold night in Haddonfield, Illinois, on October 31st, 1963, when young six-year old Michael Myers murdered his older sister Judith in the upstairs bedroom of the house on Lampkin Lane. He was committed to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, and fifteen years later on October 30, 1978, he escaped the grounds, and returned to Haddonfield in hunt of his other sister, 17-year old Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is the obsessed psychiatrist of Michael, hunting him down during the movie. Michael stalks Laurie for most of the day, stalking the little boy Laurie babysits later in the night, stalks Laurie during her schooling hours at the local high school, stalks Laurie and her friends while they walkhome, and just about appears everywhere Laurie goes. That image of Michael, the blue suit, and that faceless, pale white mask that he wears sets up a classic horror film about Michael's rampage on Haddonfield, and Laurie's friends living nearby her, the kids Laurie babysits and Dr. Loomis's search for Michael during the night. Digitally remastered in THX, with better sound and picture quality (Dolby Digital 5.1 for sound, and also Dolby Digital 2.0 + Dolby Digital Mono, the original way it was presented in theaters) as well as the superior picture quality (widescreen 2.35.1) this is Halloween as you've never seen it before. It loses a point for not having the cut TV-version scenes, now only available in the Halloween: Extended Edition DVD. Buy this one instead of that, 2 or 4 scenes don't really make a difference. Plus this has better sound quality and more special features. It also loses a point because it doesn't have a very good Chapter Selection, and no subtitles.

Summary: Carpenter's Masterpiece - Accept No Imitations
Review: This movie spawned the slasher/horror craze. Many of the films that copied this movie in the years following were just not able to achieve what this movie did. This was the highest-grossing low-budget independent film in movie history until just a few years ago. Carpenter used the success of this film to promote his next film, the underrated ghost story The Fog, as well as many other hit movies of the early 80's.

The DVD is breath-taking, the video is so clean and the colors are so vivid that its almost too good to be true. The 3 sound mixes are all fairly similar sounding. The 5.1 sounds good, but seems to have some unbalanced levels during parts with music and voices at the same time. The extras are all very entertaining, and the menus are fantastic. A fantastic movie gets a fantastic DVD.

Summary: Trick or Treat? 'Halloween' is Sugary Sweet
Review: Michael Myers is all grown up and he has his sister on his mind. After murdering his older sister more than twenty-years ago, he has escaped the mental institution with a motive. Laurie Strode is an honor student in high school and has to babysit a young boy on Halloween night. Haddonfield, Illinois will never be the same again. Michael Myers sports a white, William Shatner mask and carries a large butcher knife. He stalks his victims with an evil stare. One-by-one, Michael Myers takes out innocent people to get to Laurie, his younger sister. But, luckily for the young lady, a psychiatrist named Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) is on the lookout for the masked killer. This is the most terrifying slasher film ever made and I got nightmares everytime I watched it. The music is the creepiest thing since crickets started making noises in the dark. Speaking of dark, I don't ever want to walk out at night again. Period. You never know that some maniac will jump out and scare the living daylights out of you. Every time Halloween comes around, I lock myself in my room and put a blanket over my head to protect me from the demons of the night. Michael Myers was "The Sandman" and the two couldn't stop him. Jamie Lee Curtis plays Laurie Strode and she's perfect. That one guy plays Michael Myers, yes! This movie will definitely produce lemonade and brownies. Guarantee!

Summary: Trick or treat, it's all a matter of perspective.
Review: I had never heard of this movie before but since I was babysitting for my 6-year-old nephew Todd I thought I would give it a whirl.
It was a very good movie but Todd seemed a bit agitated after watching it and has not slept alone or through the night since. My sister has not spoken with me since the "incident" either. Go figure.

Summary: Scary
Review: 'Halloween' is one of the scariest horror movies made. Remember now, one shouldn't expect anything too thoughtful here; take your thinking caps off, grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy. Micheal Myers is the psychopath who had killed his sister when he was nine years old. Now, years and years later, he has escaped from a mental ward to come back to Haddonfield to strike terror. Why his doing this? Remember this is a horror movie so one should not expect any logic. John Carpenter did an awsome job creating tension without going into too much gore and blood. Many scenes are either undeniably scary or creepy. Micheal's escape from prison, Michael killing the teenage girl in the bedroom, and the final confrontation between Michaeal and Curtis are the film's highlights. Amazingly enough, there is very little blood throughout the story, if none at all. The two best performances come from Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence. Watch 'Halloween' for the sake of knowing the film that started the horror movie craze which has been going on for the last 25 years.
