Summary: it's hard to fathom how bad this movie really is......
Review: This movie is so far off from the book its not even funny!! Pennywise's suit is wrong, they added stuff in, took stuff out, put the events in the wrong order and in the wrong settings, etc. The acting is horrible (except for tim curry) so all in all, its just BAD! B-A-D! I absolutely loved the book and was looking forward to seeing this movie, and I was pretty [darned] dissapointed! Stay away from this movie at all costs and just read the book.

Summary: A fair adaptation, all things considered...
Review: First off, realize that there's NO way the bulk of this nearly 1100-page book would be transferred to a made-for-TV movie, both because of length AND content. That being considered, they did a fair job. I was surprised, though, that such far-reaching swaths of material and characters were entirely eliminated from the film. It's unfortunate that the characters that were shown were not developed more fully in the movie because I thought their job of casting was fantastic. I remember when this movie first came out, I read the cast list and just shook my head. Tim Reid -- aka Venus Flytrap from "WKRP in Cincinnati" ... Harry Anderson -- from "Night Court" ... John Ritter -- can he ever shake the Jack Tripper stigma? ... and JOHN-BOY WALTON!?!? What were these people thinking?? I was dead wrong. The casting was fantastic -- they just needed a more in-depth script to work with. I particularly liked how eerily similar the child actors were to their adult counterparts, especially the young actress who portrayed Beverly Marsh (Annette O'Toole as an adult). The child actors did a terrific job, I thought. To me, this was the central part of the story -- the relationship these children forged with each other in order to do battle with this monster. All in all, the movie was a highly-sanitized version of the book, and only the ending was completely cheesy. A giant spider puppet is supposed to be the eternal embodiment of evil? Things like this are best left to the reader's imagination -- they often don't translate well onto the screen. Also, I didn't think Henry Bowers came across as truly malevolent, as he did in the book... he was just an obnoxious school bully in the movie. While it's definitely an enjoyable story to watch on the small screen, I think it could have easily benefitted tremendously from an additional segment or two (making it into a true three- or four-part "mini-series" rather than a single lengthy movie cut into two parts and sprinkled liberally with commercials). The book is one of my favorites of all time, and it would have been great to see a movie that did it true justice. Something on the order of "Roots" or "The Thorn Birds" would have worked wonderfully with this story.

Review: IT is a awesome film but all of it is pretty much unreal or just plain STUPID. I don't recommend little people like 4/under seeing this movie because IT is a movie that would probably scare the poop out of them.
Once again, IT is an awesome film.

Summary: Truly Scary First Half is Marred...
Review: ...by mini-series production of the second half. When Curry as Pennywise shows up around the playing children of the town is when the biggest chills come. In fact these scenes stop short of being way too disturbing...maybe that whole 'clowns are funny until they are close up on you' thing is something I have to work on, but I would not reccommend any kid to see the first part. The second 'adult' part has some serious overacting by Anderson, Thomas and Ritter in particular, and it gets marks for the campiness I think fans like (a la Castle or Corman moovys or the masterful "Dark Shadows" tv show).

Summary: A pretty good movie
Review: I first saw this movie on ABC in the fall of 1990. Though it was scary, it was rather tame compared to the book (which I *did* read and is more gruesome than the movie). The acting was very good from both the adult actors (huge thumbs-up for Tim Curry as Pennywise/IT) and child actors (especially Ben Heller as young Stanley). I can understand why some Stephen King fans might be upset to see his book "butchered" or altered or whatever, but it's a 1000+ page book. The producers and writers took artistic license, and did a good job. This is a great movie to watch on a weekend night, or a rainy afternoon. I really recommend it.

Summary: Urggggggggggggg
Review: This film really bothers me. I read the book, loved it, and got pumped up for seeing the film. Unfortunately, it was painful to watch. It is nowhere near as good as I would have hoped. They rushed over everything, way to faast, and missed a lot of the point. There was stuff in there that simply did not make sense if you haven't read the book. On top of that, they missed a lot of the point. A large portion of the book was about battling your mind. In the book, the silver bullet works, because they are using it on what their mind made look like a werewolf, and because they believed it would hurt him, it did! The same thing with Eddies aspirator, but the film did not bother to lay these things out. Summed up, Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Read the book a second time, or even a third. The film is poor!!

Review: This is a terrific movie. The Graphics could be a little better though. It is a really wierd movie but a really good one too. If your into weird scary movies see IT!
