Rating: Summary: Very confusing and overly violent.... Review: I saw Sleepy Hollow about 4 months ago and I didn't really like it. There is so much gore and violence, so much that it earned an R rating. If it weren't for the violence in this film, it probably would've gotten away with a PG rating. Anyway, the acting was shallow, and the story was so hard to follow...by the end of the movie I had given up completely as to trying to figure out what was going on. I only recommend Sleep Hollow for it's great special effects.
Rating: Summary: better than the average horror movie Review: I'm not a huge fan of horror movies so perhaps it helped that I watched this at 1 am in the middle of the woods at a camp like area. With the average teeny horror flicks, I can tell who the killer is immediately but I must say, I was quite baffled over who was controlling the headless horseman. I was pleased by the plot being so convincing. Overall, definitely a movie to see, it will make the hairs on your back stand up if you watch it online or at night in the woods like I did.
Rating: Summary: Sleepy Hollow Review: Tim Burton is a visual genious. Simply put, his films are a joy to watch (except for the miserable Planet Of The Apes). Watch this movie and you'll see what I'm talking about. From start to finish, this movie is captivating. You get sucked into the twisted, creepy world of Sleepy Hollow and are held there until the end credits roll. The plot is nothing special; it's pretty straightforward. Ichabod Crane (Jonny Depp) who is a police investigator instead of a school teacher goes to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of gruesome murders. When he gets there he meets all sorts of odd characters that may or may not have anything to do with the killings. All of the characters are wonderfully real, even the ones you know aren't going to survive very long. On that same note, the acting is wonderful. Depp does a nearly perfect job as Crane, and Christina Ricci is good as Katrina Van Tassel, Crane's romantic interest. Overall, the movie is great, with excellent sets and special effects (that creepy tree with the nasty surprise comes to mind). The plot isn't all that great, but you'll be so caught up in the dream-like visuals I doubt you'll mind. I know I didn't.
Rating: Summary: Dark and atmospheric, with a hint of humor Review: Director Tim Burton excels at developing moody, dark atmospheres for his films, and it is the milieu of Sleepy Hollow, with its severe architecture and dark, creepy forests that stands out. However, there is more to this film than that: Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci turn in fine performances, as do an expert cast of seasoned character actors. Washington Irving's classic story has been reimagined successfully by Burton and his screenwriters, Kevin Yagher and Andrew Kevin Walker. In this version, Ichabod Crane is an iconoclastic New York police inspector who is an early believer in the value of forensic science. Exasperated by his insistance on adhering to scientific method, his superiors send him to Sleepy Hollow to solve a series of decapitation murders. Crane is a reluctant hero with a weak stomach--he is afraid of spiders and his first encounter with the Headless Horseman causes him to lock himself in his room for three days! All of this makes for a supremely entertaining mix of thrills and humor.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I've found that a lot of people don't like this movie. For any of you reading this, I want you to see this movie for your self. It is really good! The actors are excelent, it's scary and it's got a good love story. So go see it amd tell me what you think
Rating: Summary: Sleepy hollow Review: Sleepy hollow was quite a good film with an excellent cast including Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco)Christina Ricci(the opposite of sex). Sleepy Hollow is rather violent and at times enough to give you a little fright but it doesn't fall into the category of horror.Despite the good comments their is a down side if you have seen lots of films like this they all end in the same sort of way you know the demond goes back to hell it's been done so many times before.Yes buy it i garrantee you'll love it
Rating: Summary: i loved it!! Review: I thought this movie was great. The graphics were terrific, storyline followed the book, and not to mention Johnny Depp & Christina Ricci were in the starring roles makes this film splendid.
Rating: Summary: A chilling masterpiece... Review: It has become expected of Tim Burton to deliver dark, moody, emotional classics such as "Batman" and "Edward Scissorhands", and "Sleepy Hollow" is no exception. Even if you're not a huge Johnny Depp fan (believe me I'm not either), you will appreciate his dedication to every aspect of his character in this film. Depp plays Ichabod Crane, an ambitious young constable who is sent to investigate decapitation murders in the haunted town, Sleepy Hollow. It is there where he meets the enchanting Katrina, played marvelously by the attractive Christina Ricci amongst other townsfolk who are portrayed by a myriad of "guys you've seen and like but don't remember their names" type actors. I'll let you discover the engrossing American horror tale of the Headless Horseman for yourself. The DVD itself is crisp and the sound effects are right on target for the mood. Phenomenal set and costume design, a fantastic musical score, and even some timely humor round out a great story. The extra features on the DVD include intriguing insight on Tim Burton's masterful direction, cast interviews, and an informative "behind the legend" segment. A rousing, accurate, entertaining, horror story that shouldn't be overlooked. This one should be added to your DVD collection for a rainy night suspenseful treat that can be enjoyed over and over again, or it's off with your head!
Rating: Summary: A lot better than the Disney Version Review: Growing up I remember watching and being terrorized by Ichabod Crane in the old Disney version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Now that I am a little older...Disney just doesn't project the same feeling of suspense. Tim Burton has a solution to that problem. Burton's take on Sleepy Hollow gives us a chilling new look at the Headless Horseman. Johnny Depp turns in what could be his best performance to date as Crane. Christopher Walken is an excellent choice for the Hessian Horseman...teeth filed down to spikes and all. Gough, Jones, and Griffiths give us a look into the upper class of Sleepy Hollow. The action and scenery of this movie are incredible. Tim Burton does an excellent job especially on the windmill scene. This DVD is jam packed with extras. Set aside enough time to see the all of them...the creation and detail that went into this movie is astonishing.
Rating: Summary: One of Tim Burton's best Review: Sleepy Hollow is on par with every other great Tim Burton film (the original Batman, Nightmare Before Christmas), and there is good reason why. Burton takes the old Washington Irving story and twists it in ways only he can think of. The Headless Horseman is decapitating people left and right, and constable Ichabod Crane (played great by Johnny Depp) is assigned to catch the murderer. Little does he know what awaits him... The storyline is great, and very engrossing, and the sets and costumes are of the highest quality, as is the acting. If you haven't seen this yet I strongly recommend you do, it's great!
