Summary: Standing in the Shodow of a Legend
Review: I was able to see a closed showing of this movie in LA, and i was somewhat dissapointed. Although on it's own it is a decent movie, it pales in comparrison to the original. As mentioned by others, it lacks an ability to truly jolt one's mind and concepts, and instead goes with more state of the art special effects. Another thing that really disappointed me was the referal of this movie as a true story. Just for the record, there has never been a Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Ed Gein (which the movie is very losley based on) has never even been in texas. The only similar factor between leatherface and Ed Gein is their shared affinity for wearing human skin. Ed Gein has been used as a bases for many famous killers including leatherface, Buffolo Bill (from Silence of the Lambs), and Norman bates (of who is the most similar to the real Ed Gein). This comparrison to Ed Gein is nothing more than a cheap scare tactic (Blaire Witch Project). While i will say that this new version was entertaining, I feel that they went for the cheep scare of special effects, instead of the lasting fear left from movies like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (THE BEST HORROR FLICK) ...

Summary: Remake a mixed blessing
Review: Saw the sneak preview yesterday (9/28). New TCM is nothing like the original, and is really not very good when compared to it. That said, on its own, it isn't a bad movie. Well, it will make a solid rental, anyway. I have to say I went in with an open mind, but it was hard to fight off the disappointment after having seen it. If you just like gore, you'll like it. If you actually have a true love for slasher flicks, then it's probably best you not put yourself through seeing it.

Summary: Stop Right Now All Movie Dissers!
Review: TCM is really based on a true story. Ed Geen. If you've never heard of him then watch House of 1000 Corpses. The remake of the classic TCM is excellent... Trust me, I was at the premiere. It's even more terrifying than the original, believe me! It's based on the real events in Texas and The Silence of the Lambs. Those of you who say a good movie is SOTL should see this movie. It's even better and more frightening than it is made out to be. See this movie!

PS ~ If anyone knows the name of the song played in the trailer, write it in a review.

Summary: Leatherface for the Next Generation!!!
Review: This is the by far hands down the best horror remake of a classic ever made!!!I am getting really angry with these people on this review page bashing this movie saying it's bad when it's not even in theaters yet. Word out to yall " GET A LIFE!!!" How can you say that it's a bad movie if you didn't even see it yet, here's a clue go to theaters and actually view the movie before you make a judgment about it. I think that a remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the best idea Hollywood has had in years to reintroduce this awesome horror movie to a whole new generation of people. The guy who plays Leatherface in this one is very creepy and scary looking!! An outstanding makeup job very well done. The most shocking and frightning fact about his move that wnen watvhing it is that it is based on a TRUE STORY of a real life cannabalist named Ed Gein!!!So when you are watching this guy with a chainsaw doing these horrible things to people you keep thinking to yourself "this stuff really actually happened at one time in reality!!!" I think it is the best picture of the year, they made TTCM 100 times better looking and 100% better special effects that they didn't have back in 1974 and way better costumes and better make-up job on Leatherface and most important of all better actors and actresses!!!! So please dont judge this movie based on the trailer or other people's opinions wait to go see this movie then make your own opinion on this great horror masterpiece!!!!

Summary: One question: WHY????
Review: I agree with the person from New Hampshire: There's absolutely no need to remake a classic. Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thinks Hollywood is in serious need of some originality (and movie studio execs wonder why theatre attendance keeps dropping!). No sequels were necessary to the original because it stands alone. People can discuss a movie before its release and speculate and this will probably be along the lines of "Jeepers Creepers," with tons of explicit blood and gore. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre had plenty of blood but what makes that a classic is the fact that it deals more with messing with the mind that it does with graphic depictions of blood. Can't these studios make a decent, original film that really messes with the mind anymore? (Check "Last House on the Left" for a real good example) Sad.

Summary: Can't wait to see this one...
Review: Ever since I was a little girl I've been a HUGE fan of all the classic horror films. While all the other little girls were watching Rainbow Brite I was watching Psycho, The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, and of course The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'll be the first to admit that this film won't even compare to the 70s classic. But, on the other hand, since I'm a crazy fan for TCM I'm willing to give this one a shot and see how it is.

**P.S. TCM is one of the greatest movies ever made. Screw those of you who dis it.

Summary: Cant wait
Review: How can you people start dissing something that isnt even out yet. I for one cant wait to see this movie. the original was a work of art that didnt rely of something jumping out at you and a symphony chord to scare ppl. Also, its not based on a true story, its "Inspired" by a true story. Ever hear of Ed Geen. Killed people, and fashioned furniture of them. So, its inspired, but there was no family or anything. still, makes it more interesting. go to the movie, then, if you still dont like it, come here and diss. But i cant wait to see this movie.

Summary: Was That A Chainsaw I Heard In The Theatre?
Review: I have seen the first 3 of the movies from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I have yet to see TCM: The Next Generation. I heard that it was the worst horror flick ever made, but I'll just have to see it first before I can decide that), so I was truly delighted to hear that they were filming a remake of one of the greatest slasher movies ever made (or in the words of Rex Reed: "The most horrifying motion picture I have ever seen!")! I also found a movie trailer about it on the internet, looked pretty cool (I just GOTTA see this movie!)!

And I can't wait to torture my mother with this film when it opens at the Bijou or some other local theatre where I live!!!!

NOTE TO CHAINSAW FANS: If you find a trailer of this movie on the net (like I did) and you watch it frame by frame somewhere at the end, you kinda get a good glimpse of the new Leather-Face! Ooooooo, that guy gives me the shivers!!!

Summary: The Buzz is Back!!!
Review: This is so cool that there bringing back the classic. Sure it probely won't have the grittyness, or documentary feel to it. Still, it's probely worth the look. I mean, come on, it stars Jessica Biel!! You can't go wrong.
