Summary: NOT a horror film!
Review: I would just like to start off by saying that I do not believe this movie deserves to be in the Horror/Slasher genre. Because of the overwhelming amount of intelligence, the above-average acting, and the original story, FINAL DESTINATION deserves to be in the Thriller genre.

Why, you ask? Because it's THRILLING, a word that can only be used for a certain amount of films. SCREAM, I KNOW..., and all of those other movies can make you jump, but do those movies last in your memory? Is there any true thought behind them? Do those movies make you look at the concepts of life and death differently? No. (Which is not to say that they're not good horror movies.)

That is why FINAL DESTINATION is one of the best, scariest, most thought-provoking, and most deliciously evil thrillers ever. Not convinced? See for yourself.

Summary: The ultimate psychological thriller
Review: This movie might not be psycically scary but mentally it's absolutely horrifying. this movie will make you think about how you are going to die and what fate has in store for you.i believe they should make more movies like this because mental fear is a lot worse the physical fear. the performances were surprisingly good (espesially the performance by the candyman.)
if you want to be literally scared out of your mind see this movie after all, it is better than the scream movies.(at least in my opinion.)

Summary: Disappointing feature from the talented Morgan and Wong
Review: When a high school student's premonition of death causes several of his classmates and a teacher to narrowly avoid being killed on an exploding airplane, they gradually come to understand the rules that Death follows and attempt to avoid their own fates. Having enjoyed Glen Morgan's and James Wong's television work on "X-Files," "Millennium," and "Space: Above and Beyond," my expectations were high for this film. Unfortunately, it just didn't deliver consistently enough. Although the atmosphere was appropriately creepy, I found the premise to be quite silly and this is a flaw that is hard to bounce back from.

Summary: Great movie... but there are some glitches >> READ THIS!
Review: I thought this movie was quite good. It had an interesting premise yet there were several things we should point out:

1) Girl friend dies yet there's no reaction whatsoever, I mean, it's plausible right after it happens due to shock yada yada, but I mean... throughout the rest of the movie there's no hint of distress... confusing to say the least.

2) After his best friend dies, and goes to the morgue, he doesn't seem to worried or sad... that's just not right.

3) Why the hell does death finally strike back RIGHT AT THE PRECISE MOMENT when they realise something's wrong, and that they shoud be dead by then? Why not before? I mean... come on.

Well, I hope you agree on these glitches if you HAVE seen the movie, and if you haven't yet... DO WATCH it, and don't worry... these are minor details... no spoilers =)

Summary: Two movies for the price
Review: While I enjoyed this movie, the director had a schizo moment about halfway through it. The first half of Final Destination is a good horror flick. It has excellent suspense and mood. The second half of the movie is tongue-in-cheek humor or black comedy. Which is also well done for that type of movie. The sense of shock to my system from starting to watch a horror movie and ending with a comedy caused a large amount of consternation. Had the movie been one genre or the other, it would have been really great. But, instead we have an ugly hybrid. I would love to see this re-edited or re-done. As it stands, I can't really recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Interesting idea, bad execution
Review: I found the story idea for this film very interesting, and the writer and director could have done so much more with it. However, as it stands, the movie is quite boring. There are so many elements to this movie that could have been fleshed out more. What comes to mind, particularly, is the surrealistic encounter with the man at the funeral home. They could have brought his character in again at a later time for some more interest.

Summary: Your Time Is Up
Review: Final Destination managed to stay away from other horror films that totally ripped off Scream. It was new, different, and very original. It was the only Post-"Scream" film that managed to not follow that film's style and to set out to find it's own voice. I can safely say that it succeeded. The film is about a bunch of graduating high schoolers who are heading on a plane for a graduation trip to France. Lucky students!. One of the kids has a premonition while on the plane that it explodes. When he awakes and finds that things are happening like they did in his premonition, well, he freaks, and he gets himself and a couple of other students and a teacher off the plane. When what he saw happens, the surviving people who got off the plane find themselves being hunted by Death itself. It was their time and they cheated death. But you don't cheat death. You can't. And he is making sure they know that. The sense of doom and death, without there being a flesh and blood villain, is very creepy. It definitley works. The movie managed to do that without, like I said, a killer. That doesn't happen very often. I always believe that while it is fun to have a flesh and blood killer, and to see the likes of Freddy, Michael, and Jason, the real fear and terror is in what you don't see. This films takes that and runs with it. The actors are all good with the subject material they are given. Ali Larter is a real find. She plays Clear Rivers, a shy type who really grows and blossoms throughout the film. Kerr Smith was perfect as an annoying bully. You really wanted him to die. Does he?. Well, you'll have to watch. "American Pie" star, Sean William Scott, also appears in the film. As does "Candyman" star, Tony Todd. He and Larter are the only ones to return for the sequel. But the main star is teen pin-up, Devon Sawa. I am by no means a fan of this guy, but he does a fairly decent job as the film's main victim, Alex Browning. The movie has many clever set pieces. Some of the set ups and of the deaths are quite clever and intelligently shot. The sequel, however, went even further and the kills and inventiveness have gone up several notches. It was shot great and looks sharp. Do yourself a favor....See this!. One of the better recent teen thrillers.

Summary: save your money, save your time
Review: In fact, slit your wrists and try to drown yourself on your own blood before fate "snares you in" and there is "no escape" and "your time has come" and you actually sit down to watch this load of nonsense. Go get Rosemary's Baby instead and remember how horror movies can be low-key AND exciting, instead of just low-key. Pros are an interesting death with a series of hilariously unfortunate "mishaps" and a candyman cameo... Everything else in this movie is a turd falling into my drink... Avoid it...
