Summary: Phantasm is the best horror movie I have seen, it is great!
Review: Phantasm is an all time great movie. It has some of the best special effects I have ever seen I also think that Bill Thornbury and Reggie Bannister are two sexy men. They are both great actors and so are the rest of the cast. I have seen all of the Phantasm movies and they are all great. I hope they decide to do another one in the future.

Summary: POWERFUL CLASSIC HORROR
Review: Phantasm (1979)

Phantasm is a cult classic worldwide that spawned three sequels and has many "Phans".

The story is highly creative and original.13-year old Michael Pearson (Michael Baldwin) spies on a funeral and notices a creepy tall mortician known as "The Tall Man" (Angus Scrimm) lift up a casket all by himself and load it into a hearse.

Mike does some investigating and along the way meets plenty of nasty baddies.Hooded midget monks, the now infamous flying silver killer spheres, and "The Tall Man" himself.

The film has a lot of defintions of horror, and very powerful ones at that. The music score is absolutely brilliant and fits in perfectly.Angus Scrimm does a wonderful job as "The Tall Man" and the special effects are actually very good. The sphere scene is unforgettable, the car chases are splendid, and the gore effects are superb.

This film is also extremely frightening, and will surely give you nightmares if your very young or sensitive.Out of all four Phantasm films, this ties with Phantasm II as the best of the series.Buy this and Phantasm II.The other two entries in the series,Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead and Phantasm: OblIVion, are watchable and very well done, but just can't hold a torch to this and the epic sequel.

REAL horror fans HAVE to have this in their collection, along with Phantasm II.

Summary: Phantasm is a sci-fi/horror classic!!
Review: I was thirteen years old when I first saw this amazing film in a drive-in theater. I came unprepared and spent half the film hiding in fright under the back seat of my mom's station wagon. No horror icon had scared me like the Tall Man(portrayed by Angus Scrimm)...not Frankenstein, not Dracula, not the Wolfman.

I could identify with Mike, the 13 year old protagonist(played by a talented young actor named Michael Baldwin), who went toe-to-toe with the most terrifying undertaker this world had ever seen.

I wanted to be like Mike...drive a 426 Hemicuda, have a cool older brother like Jody(Bill Thornbury) and be capable with any weapon including steel Buck knives and Colt .45 automatics! I still do, and I'm 32 years old now!

I wanted a best friend like Reggie(played by actor Reggie Bannister), the guitar-strumming, bald, ice-cream vendor... a guy who would walk into hell with you if you needed him!

But most of all I wanted to escape into a nightmare world of deadly dwarves, killer chrome spheres that drill your brain and sucked your blood, severed fingers with wills of their own and a deadly and sexy blonde(Kathy Lester) who would love you to death.

Phantasm is the original for me, the creepiest, the strangest, the most bizarre, thrilling and unexpected film I have ever seen!

Summary: Awsome! Great dark atmosphere!
Review: This is a movie at it`s best. When I watched it 1st time, I adored it, cause Don Coscarelli had created a suspense, dark PhantasMy. The characters are as well selected as the locations. There is a lot crap in the genre, but fortunately this is one of the greatest movies the 70`s gave us. You'll hiding behind your couch when stell balls flying towards you, but first you have to rent or buy this movie , if you're fan of great, good entertaining Horrorthriller!!

Summary: OK horror movie
Review: The original Phantasm is back, this time on DVD, and you've never seen it this way before. It is packed with extras including home video footage taken while the movie was being shot back in 1979, lengthy deleted scenes, audio commentary by director Don Coscareli and actor Reggie Bannister, theatrical trailers, and much much more.
Phantasm the film presents us with a novel concept in the horror genre;funeral homes. Mortuaries, the american way of death, and bad dreams were not popular in horror movies at the time. Most horror films released during the late seventies and throughout the eighties involved slasher killings, Coscareli's movie deviates from this.
Phantasm is a must see for all fans of the horror genre. It surpasses cult classic status. Filmed by a very young Don Coscareli it has a magnificent cast and crew. It is truly an unforgetably terrifying film. A new frontier for horror-film makers.

Summary: Are you sure it wasn't that retarded kid Timmy up the street
Review: Don Coscarelli "master piece" Phantasm is your classic 80's (I know, it was made in 1979) horror movie. I also know it had a shoestring budget ($330,000). However, I must say, after watching this movie last night, it seems a bit over rated. It was considered one of the best horror movies to come out of the 80's. I would put it behind the first two Friday the Thirteenth's, as well as the first Halloween, The Howling, and first Nightmare on Elm Street. Phantasm isn't anywhere near as good as Hellraiser 1 or 2, Silver Bullet, Children of the Corn, The Lost Boys, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, etc, etc.

However, I did like the movie. The tagline of the movie (every 80's movie had one on the VHS cover, or movie poster) "If this one doesn't scare you, you're already dead!" was extremely clever.

Angus Scrimm plays the "Tall Man" to perfection. He must have had a hard time remembering his line (Booooy). However, he portrays a scary character very well. Even his picture on the VHS cover growing up was scary.

Bill Thornbury plays the older brother, who of course had to be convinced of the situation at hand. Then has to try and save the day (of course the little brother is the hero). He also appears in Phantasm III & IV, but was some how left out of the second one?!?!?!

Michael Baldwin stared as "Mike" in Phantasm, is the main character, makes the discovery of the conspiracy, and figures out the whole scenario when he falls into a vortex of some sort. The "Tall Man" is an alien obviously ;). Baldwin appeared in all four Phantasm movies, and also Vice Girls as well as Virtual Girl 2 (He went strait to soft porn after the Phantasm series ;).

This movie is very watchable, very fun, and a great 80's horror classic. Not the best of its genre, but far from the worst. I do think it is a very average film, however, better then it should have been on its budget. Don Coscarelli best movie remains The Beastmaster.

Review: Extremely good horror film. This movie has a very creepy plot to it. Its a story about a "Tall man"(which is his characters name)who is an alien from another planet. What he does is he runs a funeral home which people think is a completly normal one. But they are wrong. Dead wrong. What they dont know is that after each fineral, the Tall man takes the dead corpses back into the funeral home and reanimates them (brings them back from the dead)and turns them into these midget like slaves on his home planet. When the young Mike finds out what is going on, he and his brother try to stop him, and finally do .............so they think....
This movie has some awsome special effects as well.

Review: Don Coscarelli's "PHANTASM" is one of my all time favorite horror movies! when i sit down to watch this gem it brings me right back to being 5 & 6 years old when i was just beginning to enter the world of HORROR MOVIES. i can remember not being able to finish watching it the first 2 or 3 times because it was just to spoooky for my young fragile mind. soon after though it bacame one of my very favorite's to rent when ever mom or dad would bring us to pick out a movie at the local mama's & papa's video store. to this day 22 years later it still is one of my very favorite's & the very creeeepy feel the movie gave me all those years ago hasn't changed a bit! between the (TALL MAN)(LITTLE HOODED DEMONS) the very original (SILVER BALL OF DEATH) & the (ULTRA CREEPY SETTING)to (COSCARELLI'S GREAT NIGHTMARE LIKE UNEASY & BUMPY DIRECTION)(A BEAUTIFULY CREEPY & VERY UNDERRATED SCORE)(SOME VERY GOOD ACTING to SOME DECENT ACTING) & (SOME OF THE BEST SCARY MOVIE ATMOSPHERE EVER)its very easy to see why this movie scared the !BAHJESUS! out of me when i was little kid & its also alot more easy to understand the storyline now. this great horror movie is super impressive & far ahead of its time in concept! if you don't have this classic in your horror collection then your collection is incomplete! & if your just a weekend horror rental fan looking for a spooky movie to watch & you havn't seen this gem yet because you live under a rock then hurry up & check it out you won't be discruntled!
