Summary: I know why this is Stephen King's favorite horror film
Review: as he states in his biography. There are more cultural references in this film than Tarantino, yet it has never gotten its just acknowledgment as one of the best horror films ever made. Its film references alone are staggering, yet just on a straight ahead basis its unbelivable. Just the idea of putting Chuck Conner's in a Tourist trap venue, and a horror venue, is genius in itself. The scenes are so original..when one victim is psycho-kinetically killed by a pipe, and after the loud rush of violence is over, and the soundtrack carries the drip drip drip of the victims essence dripping away resounding on a tin pie plate..it works at so many levels. Scary, yes, but so much more there. The mannequins remind me of the worthy tradition not of mannequins, but of 'wax museum' movies and stories out of a distinguished literary tradition. This film has not gotten nearly the attention and acclaim it deserves. The soundtrack is phenomenal in itself. For a first time director on this film, David Schmoeller mines an incredible wealth of material in this work, including a level of tongue in cheek humor for viewers who are paying attention. It's fantastic that it is now available on DVD..it's what true horror classic fans like me have been waiting for..to complete their classic libraries..

Summary: "Copelia" on Crack with Bland Special Features
Review: "Tourist Trap" is one of those accidental works of genius that the anything-goes seventies horror-machine churned out. Like "Phantasm," it's as much fun to describe as it is to watch: Chuck Connors as a psychic psychopath with an army of killer mannequins!

Unfortunately, the special features on this DVD edition are pretty terrible--almost all of them are advertisements for other Full Moon pictures. And director David Schmoeller's intermittent commentary is unenlightening and dull.

Summary: perfect film transfer
Review: SCARY MOVIE if you love movies like halloween, puppet master,or friday the 13th you will love this.FOR ALL THE DVD ENTHUSIASTS I OFFER THIS: this dvd version of tourist trap is perfect. darker darks and more definition. there is also a big difference in the audio it sounds much clearer and louder. you will still see some film speckles and that adds to the atmosphere of it. i could not imagine this movie being tediously scraped of all of the imperfections that made the original cassette version so charming. i can tell they put a ton of work into this to perfect it for all the fans of horror. the commentary and INTERVIEW included of dirctor david schmoeller is fantastic because he really lets you in on some secrets of the production and the actors and he gets into it more n more as the movie goes on. this includes not over 40 trailers as stated in the above item description but about 6 or 7 great cult classic trailers one of which features demi moore from the early 80s in a cheesy sci-fi-horror ripoff of aliens! the menus are splendid looking and easy to use. film and actor bios and all the trimmings this is one hell of a dvd i'm going to watch it again right now. my only complaint is that it is too hard to find.

Summary: I Never will Forget It!
Review: When I was a child I saw this movie dozens of times! My older sisters use to watch on the Prism Cable channel. I use to cringe at most of the movie but I would always be peeking through my fingers to see what would happen next! For years I looked for this movie, and no store ever carried it. Thank God for Amazon.com. This past Halloween my fiance and I went to a video store in the mall looking for great horror flicks and he is dying to see what all the fuss is about this movie. I am so glad I will be able to show him a good horror flick now that I found it! Hey Janice,"Molly! " One of the greatest movies of all times. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. If anyone has the VHS version I would gladly like to have a copy and would gladly pay you for it! Please email me.

Summary: Superb little Carrie/Psycho/Texas Chainsaw hybrid...BIZARRE
Review: A cheap 80's weird horror film that has a lot going for it. It is full of creepy atmostphere and comes across as a psychotic jumble of some classic modern horror films which it uses as inspiration. Pino Donaggio's brilliant score helps pile on the weirdness. There is a horrendous death by suffocation scene by a Leatherface clone...........scary stuff indeed. oN the whole, despite problems with the plot and a certain uneveness, this is a classic that got away and never found its deserved audiece. it is a flawed classic within 80's horror. Worth it just for the style and the bizarre psycho in the movie.........mad enough to join the ranks of Norman Bates. Also Donaggio's score is another of his many outstanding pieces of work.....Schmoeller, the director uses some of the same soundtrack for his Puppet Master a year or two on.

Review: Amazingly this is one of those movies that sticks out when I was a kid watching showtime on cable. I will never look at maniqins at your local J.C. Pennys the same ever again. A good 80's horror movie, if you will. I have seen it many times, and probly will buy it if not just for the memories. Buzz-friday the 13th meets waxworks.
