Summary: a major let down
Review: i saw this movie cause my old roommate was all infatuated with gavid gunn right. so i saw it. this movie is nothing i love in a vampire movie. no anything. i mean you can go 4 ways in a vampire movie. you can reach for the insane, you can go for sheer humor, you can make it sexy or you can keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. this movie does none of that. it just has you sitting there watching and waiting for the good part that never comes. this movie was just...... [bad]

Summary: Waste of time....
Review: I thought this movie would be interesting to watch. I was wrong. Even as a fan of vampire movies in general I found that this movie was trite and very tedious. The setting was good and all the buildings were very rich and gothic.... the acting was atrocious. I found myself laughing at times because the actors were just BAD... There are other movies to see that are much more worthy.

Summary: Formulaic... Lacks "Bite"
Review: I'm a fan of vampire flicks, and was looking forward to seeing Vampire Journals after it came to me highly recommended... What can I say? I found this disappointing.

Zachary, a vampire 'with a soul' ala Angel, is hunting vampires throughout the streets of some distant goth European city. Sound good? Well, okay... If you're like me, you like this sort of thing.

Only, the actor who played Zachary, looked like he was in pain throughout most of the movie. The teeth, deformed the shape of his mouth, and he had a weak chin, which just made him look pathetic rather than dashingly handsome. The white makeup and cavernous eye-sockets probably also did not help.

Well, okay now, back to the plot. Our Hero, Zachary is hunting arch-vampire Ash, a vampire elder, who runs a club for vampires. (Gee where have I heard this one before).

Soon, Zach and Ash are butting heads over a beautiful mortal female.

What follows is a typical plot wherein, Zach must outwit Ash and rescue the human female. YAWN. This movie suffered greatly from a lack of a decent script. Even the actors seemed bored!

Summary: A Perfect Mst3K
Review: If you like to make fun of movies the watch vampire journals. With a great cast of characters like Ash the vampire obsessed with piano music and his mistress Casandra who wants nothing but to scare her master. Then there's Zachary a good vampire that talks through the whole movie and has no accent except when he says "world". Sophia one of the only humans in the movie plays piano and has no phone. Demetri who I assumed was gay has a problem which he tries to tell everyone but he never gets the chance and still to this day I don't Know what it was. Anton my favorite charater gets his head cut off. Beware the whooshing shadow noises and never sing Vavaldi at night in vague europe. But besides the fact that the movie sucked and the plot goes nowhere it was good for a laugh. I do think you should watch the Sudspecies series to give some background to the move...Just a warning Ok. Bye Bye

Summary: Gothic Perfection
Review: Modern goth films seem to be solely based on a trend of pumping their soundtracks full of shoddy, unimaginative mainstream metal and Ozzfest wannabe bands. This film, however, is a breath of fresh air. Not only is Ted Nicolau's script well written and air tight, his direction is the best that one could possibly hope for from any director. Coupling a great cast with top-notch cinematography and lighting, this film will renew anyone's lost faith in modern vampire films. David Gunn is remarkable as Zachary, a tortured vampire. The characters are briefly but well developed. The plot is rich with bold lines and tense dialogue. And for those who love the gore, this movie has it all. Certainly a gem for anyone's horror collection.

Summary: Second Best To Subspecies...But Still Great!
Review: Not nearly as great as Full Moon's Subspecies series, but an excellent movie by itself.

Zachary is a bitter vampire who condemns himself and other vampires much like the basic Anne Rice formula. Zachary has taken it upon himself to travel the world in search of all vampires to rid the world of their evil presence. When searching for his latest victim Ash, he meets up with a musician Sofia and begins to care for her. Ash also cares for Sofia and the conflict begins.

Jonathon Morris as Ash is a pretty good bad vampire and the slight tie in's with the Subspecies series are clever and fun to watch.

David Gunn (Zachary) and Kirsten Cerre (Sofia) both play good roles as well, but were not charismatic enough for me to really care about them as much as Michelle of the Subspecies series.

Floriella Grappini (Serena) is sexy in her small but important role and I was quite happy to see her return in Subspecies IV: Bloodstorm.

Overall as long as Subspecies films can be produced I would prefer those, perhaps even integrated with this series and the characters contained in it. I really like the way Full Moon & Ted Nicolaou are practically creating a 'Vampire World' with these films. Although if they could make Subspecies films AND create a Vampire Journals series...well then, I'd never have to look for any other form of entertainment!

Summary: Vampire taking revenge on his blood line.
Review: Out of all the vampire moveis I have seen I must say this movie is absolutely the best. Jonathon Morris (Ash) and David Gunn (Zachary) but give a great performance as vampires. If you want to see a tasteful, yet intreging movie this is the one to see.
