Summary: pure gore
Review: this one is way over the top, with its gorey set pieces and its awesome array of character's. Jeffrey Combs really is excellent as Herbert West, the man who re-animates the people. Bruce Abbott is also good as Dr. Cain. nice beheading of Dr. Hill(David Gale). for any one who has strong stomachs

Summary: Great Re-Release!!!
Review: I can't put into words how great this movie is. Jeffrey Combs is hilarous as the would-be Frankenstein Re-Animator. Lots-o-Blood for you gore hounds. Many bonuses to be found, as well. Check it out, and don't expect it to follow the H.P. Lovercraft story completely. What movie ever does? Now if only they would re-release "Bride of the Re-Animator."

Summary: Who's going to believe a talking head?
Review: One of the goriest films ever made, Re-animator is one of those horror movies that doesn't take itself too seriously. I guess you could call it a cult film, because many people find it too offensive to watch. Herb West is a twisted scientist who was recently kicked out of a Switzerland medical school for his experiments, which he brings to his new school (a name which I forget). He rooms with some guy named Dan (who's dating the dean's daughter) and brings his crazy re-animation experiments into Dan's life. Re-animator had some of the best one-liners for a horror film, including "cat dead-details later" and the whole talking head dialogue. I especially loved this DVD, which includes about 6 TV spots and the original trailer, ads that had a warning about how gory this film was (you just don't see that anymore).
The DVD also includes a deleted scene (if added, would've messed up the plot), loads of commentary, and biographies, so while the film only lasts about 86 minutes, the extras will keep you busy for a few more hours.

Summary: This Millennium Edition Is Uncut Not R Rated
Review: For all you fans of the movie I just want to let you know that the millennium edition is the uncut version. This version is unrated its not rated R and has all the gore in the movie as well. This is the 86 min version the version the makers of the film wanted. The 96 min version is a joke all thats added in is storyline no gore. The makers cut all that because it was to much story. But if you want to see it its on the second disk under exstended scenes. This movie was never subimitted to the ratings bord. They relesed it unrated becuase they new if they wanted to get a R rating they would of had to cut gore and sexuality out to aviod geting the old X rating they did not want to do that. So they relesed it unrated and kept all the gore and sexuality in.

Summary: West, Herbert West
Review: In the way of horror movies, Re-Animator takes the 80's and completely flips its perception around. H. P. Lovecraft's most prolific work, Brian Yuzna's All-Star cast, and Jefferey Combs' circulating evilness all combine to make the best horror movie of its decade. Plus, Elite Entertainment throws in that second disc in the millenium edition just to satisfy our Re-Animator cravings. Here's the basic synopsis of the movie:

Herbert West generates the most evil of all characters as he Re-Animates corpes from the very beginning. Until he goes too far, by decapitating his Professor.

Through a series of tribulations, West destroys and Re-Animates time and time again. His decapitated counterpart provides the comic relief and the "new" bad guyness. With the most gory ending of all time (apart from Dead Alive), Re-Animator ends with the biggest BANG possible.

If you haven't seen Re-Animator, please do. If you don't want to, I don't know whats wrong with you.

Summary: ReAnimation and the Fine Art of NeedlePoint; by Herbert West
Review: Being able to replicate life and bring the dead back has been an issue on the tongues of men since the beginning of written history. Men have searched for fountains of youth, cures that could capture time in a bottle and keep it from closing in, so that death could somehow be cheated. Some have even claimed to find answers to this riddle, too, but man still hasn't gained a foothold on that elusively captivating plateau. So, it is the pursuit of many a scientific mind, not to mention the joke of many an academic philosopher. Still, what if one could actually accomplish such a feat, developing a glowing green formula that can reanimate the dead? Impossible, you say? Well, meet Herbert West, the newest member of Miskatonic University and herald of strange theories that many professors, Dr. Carl Hill being the worst of them, find agitating. Enter Dan Cain, a man with a need for a roommate that West provides, and things quickly spin out-of-control.

Were I making an adaptation of a Lovecraftian tale and doing it correctly, something that I think this version of ReAnimator does o so well, I might not have picked Jeffrey Combs as my Herbert West. Why not, you ask, knowing that he was perfectly suited for the role and that this was the benchmark set for Lovecraftian imitations. Because I'm not someone who picks the cast, of course, and my eyes would have been blind to the talent at hand. Still, Combs was perfect for the part and someone did notice that, and the ensemble around him was picked with a sharp eye as well. This resulted in a group that experienced the awe and the strangely frightening effects that bringing the dead back can gravitate towards; from the screeches of a newly-reborn cat to the ranting of a severed head. Convincingly, they helped forge one of my favorite films of all time.

If you, by some fluke of nature, have yet to see this movie, seek out someone to blame for this travesty and promptly punish them. Making them listen to many a pop artist would quite possibly suffice, and perhaps making them watch some reality television will hurt them even more. I know it sounds harsh but, after watching the movie, you'll agree that they deserve it all and then more. This is because this movie has it all, from the comedy that Gordon so willfully whips up to the strange ways a certain young Dr. West carries himself with. If you have seen it and think that perhaps you've seen it in all its glory, perhaps you, too, should watch it again, this time tuning into the more clarified DVD version. Here, the move takes on a new light, looking better than I ever remember it looking, and some of the extras are bad as well.

Review: This is highly worth your money if you are into horror. Of course if you are into horror, the chances are that you have already seen this movie and are thus part of the freaky yet lovable cult of Re-Animator.
If you have not seen this, then just know that it is wonderfully campy, quite gory, and has a beautiful women. What more could you want out of a horror film. Special features you say....this has about 6 hours worth of extras and the dvd transfer is great!
