Summary: If you're afraid of spiders, watch out!
Review: "Arachnophobia" is a clever comedy/thriller sure to scare the spider-phobes out there. Jeff Daniels and Harley Jane Kozak star as Dr. Ross and Molly Jennings, a young couple who have moved to the country to start his medical practice. Little do they know that a huge, deadly spider has arrived from South America and is reproducing - a lot! One by one, town residents start dropping like flies, until Ross figures out they were all bitten by spiders. This brings back memories of a childhood trauma that left him with a paralyzing fear of spiders - and the spider's nest is right in Ross' barn.
There are many creepy scenes of menacing spiders that will have you looking around to make sure none are near you. They must have used some robotic spiders, but they all looked very real to me. The idyllic rural setting contrasts nicely with the intensely scary stalking spiders. Daniels is perfect as the dedicated doctor, and John Goodman has a small but funny part as an exterminator. The movie may be too scary for very young children, but others will giggle a little and gasp a lot.

Summary: My Spider Sense is Tingling...
Review: Although I am, for the most part, not fond of Tarantulas or any spiders, I do find them "cool". This movie was cool, and scary for a spider movie. This is so much more creepy to watch than that Eight Legged Freaks..., and the parts with the spider are devilishly good! Especially the ending is fun, where Jeff Daniels, who plays a doctor terrified of creepy-crawlies, battles the spiders. Truly scary spider effects there! I wish that I could tell you all of the pro's, but the bottom line is this: if you enjoy being scared by little creatures with eight legs and two fangs, this movie is good. If you are an arachnophobe, then you may never sleep another night in your life, so skip this movie! It will make you look differently at spiders from now on!

Review: Arachnophobia delivers both chills and laughs. In this movie, a race of deadly spiders get loose in a small town and start biting the townspeople at alarming rates. All spider haters, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. Great Fun. Jeff Daniels is terrific.

Summary: One Bite And... Blleeaaagggcckk!!
Review: ARACHNOPHOBIA takes a simple fear of spiders and magnifies it into monstrous proportions! While studying rare insects in deepest / darkest Venezuela, a scientist discovers a new, deadly, species of arachnid that is extremely aggressive. This eight-legged, super-pest is also resistant to the toxic fog that brought it down from the trees to be studied. It bites a photographer, killing him almost instantly. When his body is shipped back to the US, no one notices that there's a little hairy stowaway in the coffin! Thus begins our tale of terror in small town america. Dr. Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels) has just moved into the same town with his wife and kids. Not only the same town, but the very house that is ground zero for the coming spider invasion! The south american mega-spider has mated with a common housespider, producing offspring even deadlier than itself. The brood fans out, going house to house, striking unwary citizens. The spiders themselves are the best bugs I've ever seen in a movie. They seem to be trained to act menacing. Whoever the "bug-wrangler" was, did a superb job of getting them to "act" smart. The camera work also adds to their appearance as both intelligent and scary. Can Jennings overcome his fear of spiders and stand up to this tiny army of death? Check out John Goodman as Delbert McClintock, exterminator extraordinaire! He's a riot! ARACHNOPHOBIA was an unexpected hit when it was released, and remains a solid example of horror / comedy. You'll never look at those webs in the attic / basement the same way again! Highly recommended...

Review: Bad News: this kind of movie isn't typically very good. If you like semi horror/suspense movies, it's great. Just be aware that it's that kind of movie."Arachnophobia" is a suspense movie with all the elements of a classic horror movie: a small town, a Bad Thing happening, a local hero (Jeff Daniels) that nobody wants to believe, a wise professor to help him out, a jolly fellow for plucky comic relief, and a man vs. beast showdown at the end. But instead of trying to scare you with an extremely scary monster or super-human psychopath, this movie uses more tactfull suspense (and a more realistic enemy--there are some pretty nasty real spiders out there). Everyone shakes in their boots waiting for the venomous spider to bite the old guy's toe, because they just KNOW it's going to happen. If you only buy movies that are really good and plan to watch 100 times, just rent this one. If you are even the slightest sort of movie buff and have ever bought a movie to fill a "gap" in the collection, Arachnaphobia is a fun, ocasionally funny, and creepy movie that uses classic elements with style.

A deadly South American spider is accidentally braught to a small, country town--the spider proceeds to kill of many of the inhabitants and gives birth to hundreds of venomous spawn. Small-town doctor Jeff Daniels, who happens to be horrified of the eight-legged beasts, must conjure up enough strength to save his community, and more importantly his family from the threatening bugs. John Goodman is down-right hilarious as the Rambo-esque terminator, using a splendid script to invoke many laughs throughout the picture. Daniels is equally good as the tormented M.D., running around like a petrified girl scout at the beginning of the film, but ultimately encounters the mother-spider for the showdown of all man vs. spider showdowns. A fun, exciting scare fare that is actually viewable for most of the family due to its fairly low amounts of violence and profanity.

Summary: Real Eight-Legged Freaks
Review: Forget that David Arquette movie, "Arachnophobia" will make you laugh and get an upset stomach. A mysterious species of spiders have made their way from Venezuela to a Northern California town. Unfortunately for the new doctor (Jeff Daniels), his patients were becoming ill and dying. Bad bugs. Again, he could've used Black Flag instead of hiding in the corner. At least somebody exterminated the spiders (John Goodman as the Exterminator Dude) and called it a day. Spiders were everywhere: the barn, the house, and even in the shower! Those are some sneaky, slimy bugs. If I see a spider, I'll squish it with my bare hand. No problem. Man, these people and their phobias... mortals. Frank Marshall's movie is funny and entertaining.

Summary: Wild, funny, and scarier than given credit
Review: Huge killer spider from South America hitches a ride with a photographer's corpse to the United States, mates with a common female spider, and spawns a legion of small killer spiders that turn a peaceful little town upside down. Awesome roller coaster ride of a movie that gives you fears you never thought you could have. The best scene has to be when the spider drapes across the television set during FAMILY TIES.
