Summary: Back to the Double R for some pie and a cup of Joe
Review: Finally...I've been waiting for this for years!!! While having the VHS box-set did include the second season (let's hope that it's forthcoming),the audio/video quality was absolutely terrible. Now, every frame, every spoken word, gives the viewer the thrill of watching Twin Peaks again for the first time. I still can't get over how much more is visible in each of these intriguing episodes. And let's not forget the packaging which is beautiful. The clear plastic (get it?) slip cover with it's picture of Laura Palmer and the tri-fold DVD holder all add to the total package...worth it's weight in gold...or should that be coffee?

Review: I LOVED THIS SERIES WHEN IT CAME OUT ON TELEVISION. I LIKE DAVID LYNCH'S STYLE. THE MORE BIZZARE, THE BETTER. I KEPT WAITING FOR THE "TWIN PEAKS" SERIES TO COME OUT ON DVD. THIS X-MAS, I RECEIVED IT AS A GIFT. I COULDN'T WAIT TO RELIVE THE TOWN AND ALL THE CHARACTERS WHICH DREW ME TO THIS DARK SERIES IN THE FIRST PLACE. IT HAS BEEN YEARS SINCE I HAVE SEEN IT AND MY ONLY DISSAPOINTMENT WAS :WHERE IS THE PILOT EPISODE????? FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN THE PILOT AND THEY SPEND THE MONEY FOR THIS SET. THEY WILL BE LOST.....I HAVE SEEN THE PILOT AND WAS EXCITED TO START THIS WHOLE SERIES OVER AGAIN YEARS LATER. NOT INCLUDING THE PILOT WAS A HORRIBLE DECISION. I CAN'T EVEN FIND IT TO BUY IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS OUT THERE FOR SALE ON DVD? OTHER THAN THAT- I AM ANTICIPATING THE SECOND SEASON..MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THESE EPISODES IS HOW DARK AND SOMETIMES FRIGTENING EACH EPISODE ENDS.....

Summary: No Pilot
Review: The DVD collection is great EXCEPT it does not include the Pilot episode. I can't believe that it is not included. So if you expecting the whole first season forget it, the first season does not include the pilot!

Summary: Television At Its VERY Best!
Review: I had to give it five stars, because, well, it's "Twin Peaks!" I remember being 14-yrs-old watching it with my Mom every Tuesday night!! Brilliant in acting, concept and design. There have been many who complained that the original 2-hour pilot episode was not included in this set. It's because it's produced by another production company. David Lynch is still fighting for the rights to "Eraserhead," because it was done as a school project and the school still retains the rights to the movie despite his best efforts to buy it from them. I just bought the two-hour pilot from a supplier in Seattle no problem, copies do exist, there's just not very many of them. Do a thorough search on the net and you'll be able to track down a copy. In the meantime, I highly recommend this set. Whether you've watched it countless times or are thinking about checking out what all the commotion is about, it's a valuable asset to any DVD collection. It's the epitome of the twisted, bizarre journey that only David Lynch could create!!!

Summary: Missing Pilot is Very Bad News
Review: I am a diehard Peak Freak, and have seen the entire series many times. The episodes that ARE contained in the collection are not at issue, nor is the quality of the DVD, nor the bonus material. I can not get a high-quality (DVD) version of the pilot anywhere, and it is the most important part of the first season. To omit it from the collection is heinous. Why call the collection "The First Season" if you're going to omit the most essential episode! I feel very angry about how this collection was released. If the pilot were available elsewhere in DVD format, I'd feel less cheated.

Summary: Excellent- but about that pilot...
Review: This is a great box set, and I can't wait for the second season to come out on DVD as well.

For those of you confused as to why the pilot isn't included on the set; apparently, Warner Brothers (who owns the rights to the pilot, not the series) was unwilling to release it to Artisan for the set, so they had to go with what they had. Luckily, the rights have now reverted back to Paramount, which has a much stronger history of DVD releases. I urge you, if you want the pilot on DVD, to e-mail the good people over at Paramount and express your interest...Twin Peaks forever!

Summary: It's about time
Review: If there's any one thing that deserves to be on DVD it's TP. I have the original series edition on VHS and it looks about as crisp as a third generation copy. God knows I've been waiting for Dale Cooper's face to look less like death than Laura Palmer's.

Also, for those 'fans' who are complaining about the missing pilot: even on the VHS series it was a separate entity since it was meant to be just a two-hour movie. The series was picked up afterwards. And just like everyone on this board has stated -- you can easily pick up a copy of the pilot at your local video store if you want to catch up. And true, the pilot will most likely be released later on and cost the same -- if not more -- than the first season.(...)

Summary: PERFECT
Review: This set was perfect and Twin Peaks truly is the greatest television show ever created. The artwork and menus are gorgeous, the transfers and sound are great, and seeing most of the cast as they are now in the interviews is lots of fun. (...)

Summary: Great!-even without the pilot
Review: Please everyone, do not Damn this magnificent set of discs because the pilot is not included. It was not included in any of the tape sets either! It was at that time owned by Warner's, and is now owned by Paramount. Atrisan aparently made every effort to obtain the US rights, but failed. This information is widely available on websites devoted to the series without number, so there is really no excuse other than laziness or lack of interest not to know the fact. I used to have the extended play tapes, and going from those with the muddy sound and grainy, smeared picture to a crystal clear picture and sound better than most dvd movie releases is simply fantastic. How anyone can write a poor review of these discs is simply beyond me. Whant do you people want?

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good as far as it goes ......
Review: This is going to sound familiar, but this collection really should have had the pilot included: this mystifying omission is reason for the three-star rating. It was hard to explain to my non-Peaks-aware wife why the narrative began seemingly in the middle of the DVD.

Even so, as a Twin Peaks fan, it was great experiencing the episodes again, and I'm not sorry that I purchased this set. The packaging of the set is attractive, the extra features interesting (the Log Lady's original preamble was a very pleasant addition), and the video is clean and pretty.

If anything, they've guaranteed a couple of more purchases out of me--one for the pilot, and one for the second season.
