Summary: House of...something.
Review: What is the matter with these people? I mean, really. Video game shots in the midst of your movie? Did they spend like 5$ on this, or what? If the movie actually cost more than 5$, it's because everyone involved was out back buying and smoking crack.

Fer god's sake.

Summary: the worst movie ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: A few weeks ago I wrote a review about 28days later thinking that it could not get any worse then that! Well I was wrong this movie is pure crap. All it is is a bunch of good looking girls and guys fighting off zombies. The director I'm sure thought that if he put in so many good looking chicks in the movie that it would make the movie better, and draw attention away from fact that he is directing the worst movie known to man. wrong!!!!! It's so bad it's funny. I actually only got about 40 mins into the movie before I had to stop it, I couldn't take any more and either could the 5 other people who were with me. So please don't let these retards who made this movie make any more money. If they only made 1 dollar that would be a dollar too much, I'm serious this movie sucks!!!! save yourself the 4.00 dollars to rent it.

Summary: Quite possibly the worst film of the year
Review: Let's start with standards: granted, there are people out there of tastes that do not allow for zombie shoot-em-ups no matter how well made or written they are.

I am definately not one of those people. Although I didn't quite like Paul Anderson's RESIDENT EVIL of 2002, I must acknowledge that it had professionalism and at least some degree of tension. Oh yeah, and its coolness factor was through the roof.

This film is utterly mind-blowing in its stupidity and sheer awfulness. I didn't give one hoot about any of these characters They are given mind-numbingly bad dialogue that no actor is capable of delivering. Not that any of them could. This movie will always be remember for this timeless line "You did it all so you could be immortal. Why?!?" I doubt I need to elaborate on the staggering stupidity of that statement. And I swear on my mother's grave, that is exactly how it appears in the movie.

The really sad thing is that it isn't the least bit scary. With all the darkness and idea of the setting on an island, there is not a shred of tension or fear to be found. The zombies run around like confused extras, not even making an attempt to fit the conventional zombie-stagger. The gore is present but not done in any creative or interesting ways. If zombie gore with wit and hilarity is your thing, find DEAD ALIVE.

As far as I counted, the film rips off to varying degrees, besides the obvious zombie films, Jaws, the Lord of the Rings (the now semi-famous shot of the creature looking out over the grove while characters huddle directly underneath him), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (why, God, why?) and the Matrix. Notice that I said "rip-off" and not "pay homage," which would suggest that they did it with some success.

I am telling you all this a conniseur of direct-to-video horror films (I like creature in the water films) and I can tell you that this is easily as bad as most of them, and worse than some. This thing was a theatrical release, (albeit limited) and so it goes without saying that it should deliver some degree of quality. At least you will have a newfound respect for the horror-movie-victim who wanders off alone in the dark saying "C'mon Matt. This isn't funny!" After all, myself and other real people willingly subject ourselves to movies like this, which is about as dumb.

6 years ago, I was playing HOUSE OF THE DEAD at the arcade like mad. I speak for everyone who's ever sacrificed quarters to that legendary game when I say that we deserve much, much, much better

Summary: One of the worst movies ever made!
Review: I had originally heard some good things about HOD and was looking forward to watching a fun action packed movie, but after viewing it I was really disappointed. I mean this movie had no plot, or any redeeming quality about it. About the first 5 minutes into it I thought ok it has to get better, but no it actually get worse..Way worse! Do yourself a favor and please don't rent this movie.

Summary: Don't waste your money!
Review: Is this supposed to be horror movie? It seems more like a comedy, and a bad one at that, too. I blame myself for falling for the hype!

Summary: wow, im almost lost for words....it's that bad
Review: I consider myself a fan of cheesy horror films, but this is really bad. The acting sucks, the zombies makeup sucks, annoying images from the video game keep popping up during the action scenes, the story line was pretty lame, etc.,etc.,etc...The only cool thing about the movie was the scene where the girl jumps up to fire the shotgun at a zombie and it slows it down so you get to see the shell fire the individual pellets. Now that you know don't waste your time or money on this crap.

Summary: "Horrible"
Review: House of the dead was one incredibly stupid horror movie. The acting was beyond bad even for horror movie standards. Why do people make so many bad horror movies that waste people's money and ruin the genre even further? I don't understand why they even bothered to make this movie. House of the Dead was a complete waste of my time and it had absolutely nothing to offer.
The fighting scenes were equally bad. The fighting scenes lasted way to long and were beyond cheesy. The director tried his hardest to make House of the Dead the cheapest horror copy of the Matrix imagined. I wouldn't have had a problem with the violence if it was good but it was completely boring. The blood was so fake looking. The entire movie was just plain blood and that's not a good thing either.
The so-called zombies were laughable and were a complete joke. The zombies are easily killed with a single shot anywhere on their body. The actors and actresses showed no emotion or real speaking tones. When the actors were talking they didn't sound like real people but like bad actors.
The storyline was awful; it was like every other bad horror movie cliché. The characters basically asked to be killed. House of the Dead had no interesting story to go along with it. Well actually the story didn't make any sense if you think about it.
The thing about House of the Dead that upset me the most was that they used clips of the video game throughout the movie that had nothing to do with the scene but just to remind you to buy the video game; how pathetic is that? There were also SEGA advertisements throughout the movie; how low can you go?
The DVD features were incredibly boring and were a waste of time. It's safe to say that House of the Dead was a result of poor directing, acting, screenwriting, special effects, and advertising but the list goes even further. The only thing that will give you nightmares is that you paid money for it. House of the dead id trash that should be avoided all together.

Summary: Why God, Why
Review: There has never been, and there never will be, a movie worse than house of the dead. You may think I'm exaggerating, but sadly I'm not. In the middle of random scenes it plays clips from the video game. In one scene, me and my friends counted 5 zombie extras wandering around in the background with no makeup and no costumes on. One extra was even wearing a pink and white bucket hat. Thats just a little bit obvious. It would appear that halfway through filming, they simply stopped trying. Any movie based on a game is destined for failure, and this movie is clear evidence of that.

Summary: Not as Bad as Street Fighter...Is that a good thing?
Review: Wow, the director really did a hack job on this one. The story was simple enough, but it was packed with cliches. Action scenes are interrupted by clips from the video game so many times that I was screaming "OK, I GET IT, THIS MOVIE IS BASED ON THE GAME! NOW STOP!"

Every opportunity to mess up a scene was taken by the director and its not gory enough to be decent zombie film. If you like zombie films, skip this one.

Summary: The Worst Film of 2003!
Review: A few weeks ago I declared "A Mighty Wind" the worst movie of 2003, and then I saw "House of the Dead." This is was most pointless, stupidest, and dumbest movie I have ever seen, even before 2003. The biggest problem with the movie was that you didn't care about any of the characters. The point of the characters was to die, and not for you to hope they don't die, or for you to relate to. That usually happens in most horror movies, but some work. This was just a compliation of scenes where you just want the movie to end. "House of the Dead" is based on the video game by the same name. I have played the video game, and I don't think its that bad. It a first person game with plastic guns, and you shoot the dead bad guns using the guns. The game is fun and although it lacks on story, it exceeds on the thrill of making sure that you don't die. But in the movie, you just don't care.

You know that just about all the characters die, because in the beginning of the movie the character Greg says that just about all the characters die. You can't even guess which characters survive because of this. After that we see earlier that Greg, Cynthia, Simon, Karma, and Alicia are trying to get to a rave party on an island. They miss there boat and pay Captain Kirk to bring them to the island. Kirk's first mate Salish is not thrilled about going to that island, because the name of it translates into the Island of Death. They don't care, but are almost in trouble when the coast guard Casper chases after Kirk, because she wonders about what he is carrying in his boat. Kirk brings them to the island and then sends Salish to try and get rid of his cargo before Casper can catch up to them. The kids then find that the party is deserted. Soon they find out that these zombie creatures found the party and killed everybody there. Most of the kids think that it is just a pratical joke as part of the rave, but they find out that the dead walk the island. They meet humans like Liberty and Rudy, and with the help of Kirk and Casper they try to stay alive.

"House of the Dead" was just plain terrible. The character of Salish is played by Clint Howard, the brother of Ron Howard, who is a good actor and has been in over a hundred movies. You wonder to yourself how such a good actor could be in a movie this bad. Usually I like movies that are pointless, but this movie was a movie where you know what happens, you can't care about the characters because none have the qualities of a hero. A final point that I am going to make is how the director inserted action from the video game. It was ok during the opening credits. It wasn't a clever idea and it got annoying after a long time. The movie also has clear rip-offs of the Matrix. How about an orignal horror movie next time. I didn't like it, but you might.

ENJOY!

Rated R for pervasive strong violence/gore, language and some nudity.
