Rating: Summary: Fast, brutal, zany and furiously entertaining! Review: All the best of over the top HK cinema is noisily and delightfully juiced into this super slick thrill-ride. Jet Li is excellent and the fights are superb and nearly non-stop except for a few pleasant scenes between Li and the supremely endearing Karen Mok. There are several cool charaters, including the gorgeous Francoise Yip as a vicious and sexy schizo, and the whole lot of them--along with some great direction and editing--do their best to keep the comic book plot from careening wildly out of control and right on the brink of straight buzz gloriously silly and wildly entertaining action cinema.
Rating: Summary: Lots of action, but cheesy. Review: Ok, so it's not Jet Li's greatest film, but it does have good action sequences. If you want to see him in a more traditional fighting movie, then see Fist of Legend. Easily his, maybe even the best, martial arts action film ever. But as for Mask, the amercanization really took away from it. The bad dubbing, the rap music, really ruined what could be great. I hope an authentic subtitled unamerican version emerges someday.
Rating: Summary: Black Mask Review: I really enjoyed it. I rented it, but after seeing it plan on getting it again. The special features are nothing to get excited about. But if you like non-stop "beat people up" movies this is one to watch. it could have been a little better, but who knows what was left on the floor when it was done for american release.
Rating: Summary: stop the rap music, please Review: Just because someone might be a fan of martial arts movies, doesn't mean they want to listen to an hour and a half of backround rap music. I would rather have seen the original Hong Kong version of this movie because the American distributor made a joke out of this. Every scene is punctuated by rap or hip hop. So if you don't like that kind of music, this movie is hard to watch, which is a shame cause it's a pretty cool movie.
Rating: Summary: Jet Li - COOOOOOL!!! Review: This movie has everything one can expect in the HK genre: stylish sets, great camera work, suberb editing, bad dubbing, funny but cool characters, outrageous situations, great cinematrography, cheesy acting, and over-the-top action scenes. Oh yeah, and did i mention JET LI 's in it?! This is one of my favorite movies!! If you look at movies the way they are supposed to be, then this is THE perfect example of a movie with a comic-book, anime twist.
Rating: Summary: Maybe the worst movie I have ever seen in my life Review: I went to this movie expecting to see more than 2 minutes of Jet Li doing real Martial Arts, like in Lethal Weapon 4. Instead I got a bunch of running up walls and flying through the air for an hour and a half. Give me a break. When is Jet Li going to do another Movie like LW4 where you got to see how talented he actually is? Aside from all that, the story was stupid and the effects could have been done by a college graphic arts class.
Rating: Summary: The only movie to rent Review: This movie is incomparable. I saw it three times in theaters and each time converted a new, previously sceptical friend. Jet is as endearing as ever, but more importantly, the fight scenes cannot be matched. They had to write Jet's character's superhuman background into the story simply to justify how fast he moves. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: UNBELEIVABLE ACTION , MARTIAL ARTS Review: DEFINITE MOVIE WORTH WATCHING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS MANY OTHER MOVIES LIKE, "HIGH RISK," AND "FIST OF LEGEND."
Rating: Summary: One of the best movies with Jet Li! Review: The effects are really great. However, I don't like the rap-like music. Jet Li plays Tsui Chik (Michael in the American version), an ex-member of the 701 Squad, who has his nervous system removed through surgery, along with the other 701 members. Tsui had excaped from mainland China and moved to Hong Kong under another identity (this movie was filmed in 1996, at that time, Hong Kong still belonged to the UK). That's when he realizes that the 701 Squad has caused devastating crimes there. He realizes that he must do something to stop them, or the whole world is doomed. My favorite scenery is the one near the end, when Tsui Chik battles the leader of the 701 Squad, the guy with the long hair and dark glasses. As stated earlier, both of their nervous systems were removed, so they fought without pain. Pretty awesome, huh? If you haven't seen this movie, please see it (despite the fact that it's rated R).
Rating: Summary: weird translation Review: as I remember when i watched the original chinese version, although it wasnt any big deal but I did like it as I remember, but this version is totally destroy that feeling, something about the translation is just bad to the core makes the movie like a piece of crap, especially some sound effect. Why don't they put the original track in it I hard can understand. if u can find some asian version and rewatch it u would agree with me. it worth my 3 stars with the original track
