Summary: Great kung-fu classic!
Review: I loved this as a classic kung-fu revenge click. Brigitte Lin is as beautiful as ever even when throwing her icy stare of death. She is a tremendous actress. I've never known many actresses that can act without speaking as Brigitte can with her facial expressions. Yuen Biao gives a strong performance.
The fight scenes are pretty good. When will they ever get the title right - it's "Deadly Melody."

Summary: Not as good as I thought
Review: I read the review and thought this would be a pretty good movie. However, I was really disappointed when I viewed it. The plot started out pretty ok. It kepts one interested for a moment (at least for me), but then later the movie couldn't decide if it wants to be a comedy (which is not) or a mystery (which I solved pretty easily). The end of the movie is even worst because it nevers tells the audience what happens to the three characters. It just left me hanging (which I hate!)

Summary: DEADFUL MELODY WHAT AN AWESOME DREAM LIKE MOVIE!
Review: Let first start off by saying i love BRIGITTE LIN i think she is an awesome actress and this is the best film i saw her in. Now, die hard asian fans like those fast paced action packed movies, i do too, but, this movie has some talking in it. BUT i stronly believe that the action scenese that are shown inthe movie make up for it. Great screen play and story. MY FAV part is when at the end an army is charging at her and she destroys them all with just the melodic sound of the MAGIC LYRE. Very orginial idea. Her other good movies are FIRE DRAGON and BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR 1&2. If u have not been this movie and want to get into asian films, BUY THIS MOVIE! =)

Summary: Not too bad
Review: This movie talks about Brigitte Lin's parents are killed when the bad guys try to snatched their "Deadful Melody" skill. Brigitte Lin survived and vowed to take revenge using "Deadful Melody" skill. Overall, the fighting scenes are nice and Brigitte Lin gave a good performance. Not a bad pop corn movie.

Summary: VERY SOLID HONG KONG CINEMA
Review: While Deadful Melody probably won't go down as one of Hong Kong Cinemas all time best, it probably won't leave you disappointed either. Bridgette Lin plays a mysterious patron whose family's possesion of a magical lyre resulted in the murder of of her parents while she was still a child by the leaders of several martial arts factions. Now as an adult, Lin seeks revenge by obstensibly hiring Yuen Biao to escort the lyre to a safe haven, which in reality is a feint to draw into the open her parents murderers and who are still seeking the lyre. Just as Biao doens't know his job as the lyres safe keeper makes him a target for the malicous and deadly martial arts factions, Lin doesn't know that Biao is in fact her long lost brother who survived the massacre of their family. While essentially a revenge story, the film as a whole unfolds in an even and intelligent manner with a steadily building tension that leads to a litterally explosive climax. Yuen Biao puts on a nice display of acrobatic fighting while performing well in the comedic situations that result in his attraction to the leaders daughter of one of the martial art clans seeking the lyre. Lin plays the dramtic linch pin of the movie, performing her admittedly repetitive role of androgynous killer with a threatening gravity. While you may have seen Lin more than a few times in this role before, she's always worth watching and this film is no exception.
