Summary: One of the best HK movie....Brigitte Lin steals the show
Review: This is one of my personal favorite HK movie. I wanted to get the DVD movie, but because of all the bad reviews about how horrible the subtitles is, I got the VHS version. This is HK movie at it's best. Tsui Hark is one of the best producer/director there is in my mind. Ching Siu-Tung is also a great director and action director. Jet Li was great, but Brigitte Lin steals the show with her mesmerizing stares. I just hope she will come out of retirement and act again.

Summary: a master piece
Review: This movie and "dragon inn" are indisputably the best kongfu movies and arguably among the best of all movies ever made. It is excellent in every aspect -- the overall directing, the mystery, the atmosphere, the personalities, the scenery ... The acting is also among the best. BTW, a previous reviewer said Brigitte Lin is a "lesser known" star -- that is very inaccurate. Lin is a huge star (at least among Chinese). You should see her in "dragon inn", she kicks axx! Anyway, I've seen this movie many times, and loved it.

Summary: The father to Crouching tiger
Review: This movie can be regarded as the father to crouching tiger, so if you liked that movie, it's very likely you'll enjoy this one also. Swordsman is not really a martial art movie but it's more a fantasy tale. The fighting scenes are are all "fantastic" in the sense they are not "real" but based mostly on magic so don't expect true kung fu action since you'll see men (and a horse) cut in two halves by a sword at 20 meters of distance!
If you don't care about these magical skills (which are much more intrusive here than in Crouching tiger) then you'll surely like it: this movie has a much more emotional involvement than other similar films and it has also a good amount of humor (it was the first time I saw Jet Li playing a not really serious character who does also funny jokes at times!) and, at the end, we even regret the evil one was killed since the character Jet Li helps, shows to be even worse than the evil they defeated.
Overall a very interesting and not trivial movie, recommended mostly to fantasy lovers than to real kung fu aficionados.

Summary: Not close to the best
Review: This movie had so much potential, with a great cast and promising story. Problem is the action was shot as if the person holding the camera was drunk. Quick cuts only work as long as the viewer has a frame of reference to know what is going on. This movie has no frame of reference shots. Jet Li and Brigitte Lin are two of the best, but this movie wastes them.

Summary: Cool!
Review: This movie has one of the nicest fighting stunts out of so many chinese kung fu shows. I feel that this show is the best out of this series trilogy. Brigitte Lin's superb cross dressing acting and Jet Li's nice fighting moves. Strongly remmended to buy.

Summary: Pretty good, make sure to watch the first Swordsman
Review: This movie is crazy. Lots of stringwork and crazy fighting and blood. I liked it except for the fact the subtitles didnt translate well. I had to watch it a couple of times to figure out what was going on (I didnt watch the first one).

Summary: Tha Best Hk movie Ever Made!
Review: This movie is great, such seriously good acting and the fight scenes will keep your attention throughout the movi being that they are the best ever filmed!I also loved the movies use of 3-d sound which gives it a whole new dimension, the only other movie I seen take advantage of sound like that was the anime NINJA SCROLL which by watching the movie you can tell took some of it's ideas from swordsmen2.Buy it ,ya gota have it!

Summary: best hk special effects award
Review: This movie is my all-time favorite action movie more or less no matter who stars in it the true star is definitley director TSUI HARK who pulls off magic with this amazing movie.I own the DVD movie and while the subtitles may sometimes not reflect some phrases exactly they still get the job done.Back to the fight scenes, which are quite simply the best I have EVER SEEN period. They are just too fast and fluid to believe and when I say that I don't mean too fast for the viewer unless wearing glasses I mean you can see every character movement and wont be able to see a wire in sight and everything looks so fantasy like yet so real at the same time that it looks almost like an awesome hand drawn anime,in fact that would be a good description of this movie anime meets kungfu. In short a master-piece that must be seen to be believed don't take anyones word for it you must ee it yourself to believe it!

Summary: A clarification =)
Review: This movie is one of my all time favorites in fantasy martial arts films. While the story may seem strange at first it is handled surprising well and becomes very absorbing. Brigitte Lin IS Asia, her acting is superb. Jet li is very charming in his role and showcases his rarely seen comical talents. One reviewer was confused about Michelle Reis's crush on her "brother", so for clarification in this movie she is called Jet li's "sister" but they are not actually related. They study under the same martial arts master and therefor become adoptive brother/sister because they share the same master. Hope that makes things more clear. I recommend this film to anyone who's open minded to a fantastic adventure with action, awesome villian, laughs and love.

Summary: Great movie but poor translation into video
Review: This movie is one of the best Hong Kong movies, yet the poor translation into video format made me to give only 4 stars. But, the movie itself deserves more than 5 stars. Jet Li and Bridgette Lin are combied together in this historic martial art masterpiece. The movie contains fantastic and one of the best fighting scenes and also decent story lines. Actually, this is the sequel from swordsman 1. So, if you want to fully enjoy this masterpiece, I suggest starting from the first one. The first sequel was a good movie too. If you haven't seen this movie yet, then you are really lucky, because you can enjoy this great movie now. Unfortunately, I already saw this movie, so I have to wait for long time to come out another great movie like this movie. But, it is really hard to see a decent movie like Swordsman 2. That means I have to wait really long long time.
