Summary: Great movie for any action fan.
Review: I think a bit more cliche' than the previous Lethal Weapon entries. But first rate action. The fight scene on the freeway was awesome! You won't be disappointed with this movie!

Summary: This is a tough movie to like...
Review: The action is wild and over the edge! Wicked! And Jet Li as the intimidating kung fu master Triad lord with little use for words and the crazy action was all that kept me in the film.

I would wait for Jet Li to come back and kick someone's ...! He was by far the toughest, most intimidating advisary Riggs and Murtaugh had ever come across. And they both took a MAJOR licking to defeat him. A quality I admired about this last film.

What I disliked was Chris Rock's worthless character "Butters". There was no point to this character, and added too much to a plot that had already bitten off more than it could chew with Murtaugh taking in an entire Chinese family, Riggs and Lorna about to have a child and the whole "Is Murghtaugh on the take" question.

It seemed to me that Warner Brothers believed that Lethal 4 needed more star power which it clearly DID NOT, and enlisted Rock to fill a few more chairs in the theater.

I was very dissapointed that Rene Russo's character "Lorna" wasn't as involved as she was in Lethal 3. They could have easily put her in Chris Rock's place in the script and done some rewriting. Instead they knocked her down to a bit part in the film where she and the two stars could have really made the film exiting! Can you see Lorna, Riggs and Murgtaugh up against Jet Li? That would've been one HELL of a cool fight scene!

Then we have Leo, whose purpose had faded long after Lethal 2. The only character development between Lethal 2 & 4 was a few more swear words, and changing his catch phrase "Okay, okay, okay" to "What-ever, what-EVER".

And they quickly answer all of the questions brought forth by all meaningless sub-plots in the middle of an action sequence. In the middle of their desperate gunfight with the triads...

RIGGS: Hey Roger, are you on the take or what?! (He shoots some bad guys) MURTAUGH: No! RIGGS: Okay, just checking!

It was all WAY too much. Did we really need to bother with whether Murtaugh was on the take or not? Did Murtaugh's daughter really need to be pregnant with Chris Rock's kid? Did Lorna need to be pregnant? Did Murtaugh really need to take in a whole Chinese family? No. I think that everyone knew this would probably be the last film, and they wanted to wrap everything up nicely, and have fully developed characters, without any more issues of age, or mourning of the dead first wife. But it was all too much.

By the end of the film their are gaping wounds, questions that NEED answering to which they wrap everything up in the end with a few lines of dialouge. Like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

The bottom line is if you are an action fan and care little for a plot, then by all means pick up this Film. The action is great fun to watch, and get wrapped up in. Wicked! For DVD this is a real treat, cause there are many extras on the disc. What's better is the sound quality of this DVD, especially if you have digital surround sound! Everytime Jet Li hit somebody my walls would shake and my girlfriend and I would jump out of our chairs and go "Woo, woo!!" You can hear bullets whizzing to the left, right and behind you "Woo, woo!!"

However, if you MUST have a story, then pick up Lethal 1 and/or 2 and let this one go. This is very disorganized storytelling. The plot is, to quote Lethal Weapon 1, "Thin, very thin".

Summary: Jet saves last LW installment
Review: What do I have to say? Jet gave Hollywood a sample of what real martial arts talent is. Although, the ending fight scene could be improved. I enjoyed this movie -- chemistry between Mel and Danny, Pesci vs Rock. I am a die hard Jet Li fan, and only wish to see more...but again, with so much talent casted, it's difficult to allocate enough film time for everyone. The fight scenes are good, and the humor never stops. A good overall kickback movie to watch over and over...

Summary: Bring on Lethal 5!
Review: The original Lethal Weapon was great, LW2 contradicted the original (in the first one Riggs was so devastated over his wife's death that he's suicidal, now he's hitting on women and bringing them home), LW3 was entertaining, and LW4 continues in the entertaining department. I had been looking forward to this movie for ages, the trailer showing the flamethrower wielding psycho made me even more eager. And the movie didn't disappoint. It's nice to see how the characters have developed through. There is one major scene where Murtaugh's house is burned down. Being a fan of the LW series (except for LW2), it felt like it was my house being burned down! One thing I really like (which I am quite embarressed about) was the romance side of it. Riggs and Lorna looked like they really belong together. After the unlikely romance of Titanic and the if-you've-eaten-to-many-m&m's-you'll-probably-puke romance of The Wedding Singer, it was good to see one that was realistic. Great action, enough laughs to fill two movies, romance and the rest, Lethal Weapon 4 is perfect (I didn't give it five stars simply because it's a sequel). This is probably the only series where I'm waiting for the next sequel (apart from Star Wars that is).

Summary: As exciting as a 2-day-old 'Big Mac'.
Review: The makers of this movie have plumbed new depths with this dog: same old formula that it's almost a self-parody of action-movie cliches. Banal jokes, dialogue liberally laced with profanities, black cop-white cop interacting - done to death, and almost de rigeur for movies of this genre as if it produces a heightened sense of comedy and action. The depressing monotonous formulaic movie and don't overlook the greedy movie-makers who cater to the lowest common denominator in taste - whose only real priority is a new Gulfstream V

Summary: This is definitely the best Lethal Weapon!
Review: I think Lethal Weapon 4 is the best Lethal Weapon movie ever made. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover still make a great team together especially with their sense of humor. Joe Pesci and Chris Rock are very funny together even though there was a lot of profanity from them two. But perhaps the best addition to the new Lethal movie was the martial arts sensation Jet Li. His moves throughout the entire movie had me interested in the movie alone. I would like to see him in other American made movies. He probably will be in other American movies sense he did so well in this one.

Summary: The 4th time is the charm!
Review: Of all 4 of the Lethal Weapon movies this is by far my favorite. Chris Rock is a great addition in this cast of wonderful characters. True to Richard Donner and all of the Lethal Weapon movies, there is constant non stop action and of course, things going up in flames. After all it wouldn't be a true Lethal Weapon movie if nothing went up in flames

Summary: This one's 4 U!!!
Review: This movie was awesome!!! Funny, exciting, & exhilerating. Perhaps a tad bit to long though. Great star performances from Gibson, Glover, Pesci, Russo, Chris Rock, & Jet Li definitely made it worthwhile seeing. As much fun as Die Hard with a Vengeance. A must see.

Summary: A great ride in the leathal world.
Review: I was a little worried at first but Richard donner does it again. He keeps the action and the flow most leathal fans remember from the first film. A must buy!!!

Summary: A fitting last Lethal?
Review: With the relatively untalked about Lethal 3 I was dubious about Lethal 4. However, a mild grin gave away my delight when I found Jet Li was in the film. The banter between Mel and Danny ranges from tiresome to touching and Donner has squeezed the most from their characters at this juncture. Pesci as Leo Getz provides the humour and as usual, can do no wrong while Chris Rock is the new cop in town and slips into his role nicely. But just as you're thinking what's so special? Why have I spent my bucks on this?... Jet Li explodes onto the screen. His scenes are electric as Triad Lord Wah Sing Ku and Li's charm and gracefullness positively shine from his character. Perhaps maybe too much as I wanted Li to kill off Mel and Danny. In my opinion Donner was a little too greedy casting 6 star actors. He, perhaps, should have axed Rene Russo. Li without doubt, steals the show and if a little bitty part gives him this much acclaim in Hollywood I can't wait to see him as a central hero. Credit to Donner on this score. The DVD boasts excellent features with the "Pure Lethal" documentary and the Richard Donner interview. I also own the LD as well as DVD version of this film and DVD wins - better colors and more features. Sadly my 3-star rating is due to (only at certain times!) an unimaginative plot and subplot and the idle banter of the first 20 minutes. All these things asside, Lethal 4 is good fun with a few friends in front of the couch.
