Summary: Great movie...
Review: Where to begin with this movie? It is so well written, so well directed, so well acted, that it is hard to pick which aspect for me to start praising first. All of the actors do a terrific job, making this movie far from the usual martial arts popcorn fair (which is usually enjoyable as well). The acrobatics are simply amazing and unmatched. There's something to be said for non-computer generated special effects...there's nothing better than the real thing. The DVD transfer is great, creating a crystal-clear picture and great sound. I would highly recommend this film.

Summary: A very beautiful film!
Review: Ang Lee did a fantastic job in this movie. The cast was great, even though Jet Li would make a much better Li Bai. The film was shot beautifully and the scenery was spectecular. Yuen Wo Ping did it again with his intricate choreography. One of the things I like about his work is that the characters never really did "wire-fight", but they actually fight on the ground. The score of the film was elegent and sometimes very fast in fight sequences.One problem I have with the movie is the story. It was good, but not deep. I don't find the story that compelling. I think this is a great movie ....

Summary: What the deal?
Review: Being a hug fan of martial arts and similar action movies, I thought Crouching Tiger would be another film added to my library. Forget it. I couldn't even watch the whole thing through without nearly falling asleep. The sequences are ok but the flying is just ridiculous. The story is so thin - the search for an ancient sword. The subtitles distract from watching the footage. How in the world did this one get these Acadmey Awards??

Summary: Cool!
Review: I loved this moive even though it was kind of bloodly! You see in this moive Jane Fox is a great woman fighter also a princess. A master wants her to be his stundet ~ This leads to allot of trouble. After Jane Fox stole the masters prized sword ~ That was said to be hard to beat, Jane went out into the wilderness. She met up with an old friend of hers who had a big crush on her and wanted her to marry him. While doing this she causes allot of trouble hurting and even killing people. Near the end of the moive the master dies of a posion that Jane Foxes Master put inside a needle and shot at him~ Jane tries to help but she arrives just after his death. After this Jane takes her friend to a top of a mountain where he tells her about how one day a old guy jumped off the mountain and wished for his sick children to be healthy~ as he flew down wards he didn't fall but his children became better! Jane asked her friend what he'd want out of her and he answered for her to join him in the desert and so she jumps off the mountain and that's the end... I mean it... that IS the end!

Summary: Superbit.....ain't all that super
Review: I spent days trying to find a review on an individual Superbit Edition dvd, but couldnt find one worth listening to. So I vowed once Crouching Tiger landed in my lap, and I got the chance to watch it, I'd review it so all those other people desperate for advice would have a least a little to go by. I was a "bit" disappointed, hehe....uh, the DTS is cool, its better than dolby digital 5.1, which is the best the other dvd provided. Also, the Superbit didn't have that annoying dubbed track, that I doubt many people want to listen to anyways. Although I only watch my dvds through s-video rather than the best picture quality component video, I can still say that I've seen better picture in dvds that werent superbit. So if you dig extras, like I do, go for the non-superbit dvd's. At least with this movie.

Summary: A Beautiful Movie
Review: I found Crouching Tiger to be a wonderful movie. Two love stories in one, coupled with action, an oriental ambience, superb fight sequences, soulful acting and the highlight for me, a tremendous musical score. The beating drums in the background during fight sequences was just great. Certainly not a movie for everyone and it seems to be a movie you love or hate. Well you know what side of the fence I sit on. Nice DVD and extra features which are a little thin on the ground, but certainly a DVD I will be revisiting again and again.

Summary: Martial Artistry
Review: CROUCHING TIGER...takes place in 19th century China and tells the story of Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun Fat) and Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh). Two worriors face the ultimate challenge, when an ancient sword, called The Green Destiny, is stolen. Meanwhile, a young aristicrat, Zhang Ziyi, (Jen Yu) is preparing for her wedding, when it is discovered by the two other worriors that the bride has superior fighting abillity. Soon, the three of them head out to seek justice for their people. Director Ang Lee tells a sweeping story. It is action packed, romantic, and mythical. The martial arts action in the film is choreographed by Yoen Wo Ping, who stunned movie audiences, with his work on THE MATRIX. The combat and battle scenes are truly breathtaking and add a new demension to this ancient art form. The DVD has a truly facinating commentary from the director and producer/co-scripter James Schamus. It also conains the BRAVO special "Unleashing The Dragon", an interview with Yeoh, and a decent photo montage. I have only ever really liked a handful of martial arts films over the years.. Crouching Tiger is a film that ranks up there as one of the BEST films of the genre. Enjoy.

Summary: "Sweeping and Energetic."
Review: One would be hard-pressed to think of a martial arts film so far-removed from that particular genre, and also so masterfully realized and executed. What Ang Lee has done is gone beyond the conventions of the usual martial arts film, taken it a step above the B-movie ranks and swept us into a mystical fantasy. This is a powerful and moving picture, a beautiful romance and haunting masterpiece. The fighting in the film is done with such perfect symmetry, and astonishing grace, one is not hardly impressed or bewildered, but mezmerized. It's so sweeping and energetic, poetic even. Boasting career-best performances from Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh, and an incredible debut performance from the lovely Zhang Ziyi, this is an epic romance and entrancing drama, and one of the finest, most exciting pieces of cinema to hit the screen in a long while.

Summary: What Is This???
Review: Ok, I know that this movie won best director, and that it was up for best picture, but I DO NOT see what everyone saw in this movie! Maybe it was that the subtitles distracted me from the action, maybe I just am not a candidate for artsy films, but I know that hated this movie!!! It was such nonsense, I lost interest halfway through. I still watched it, but it made no sense! Where did these people learn to fly??? Say what you will, but I hated this movie. Go see it if you want, but if you have read my other reviews and you agree with them, trust me, stay away from this movie.
