Summary: GIA-Tragic, Honest, Beautiful
Review: I must say, that this has got to be one of the best tear-jerkers I have ever seen. Angelina Jolie gives an awesome performance as "Gia", no holds barred. Elizabeth Mitchell, as Linda, gives an honest performance, showing just how much a person can love and care for another, and make a difference. The whole story is tragic. Still, I couldn't help but come to love the leading characters.

Summary: Angelina Jolie Makes Gia Darkly Shine
Review: Gia is a well done heart wrenching portrayl of famed model Gia a women who lived life fast and thus short. It is well crafted and Jolie literally channels Gia into her soul for this amazing portrayl. I have read more about Gia that was missed in the movie, but this true tale is more accurate than most and allows you to see the inner conflicts that haunted Gia's Life. A worthy film to own and see.

Summary: Great performance by Angelina; Sad Story
Review: I have been looking all over for this movie which I haven't seen. I finally found it, rented it, watched it tonight, and it's a very very sad story. Gia finally got sober only to find out she had the AIDS virus from a dirty needle. It's such a waste. I looked up the real Gia online, and saw the website and all the photos and my eyes started to tear. The real Gia, as well as Angelina, is gorgous. (Was I mean) Aids is a terrible thing. Nowadays people still share needles and engage in unprotected sex. There was a time in my life where I felt bitter towards society because I had issues with that and I couldnt understand why people would risk it. Gia is a different story. In the 80's AIDS wasn't fully understood like it is today. And once you become addicted to narcotics, your judgement is impaired and you become desperate and do risky things just to get the drugs. "I don't shoot." is what she said at first, which didn't remain for too long. It was a tragic story. Not just the drugs, or the aids, but the lack of love and support she dealt with. She was very young and started her career at a young age, and did it alone. Alone with her depression and the confusion of life and growing up, it's a shame she turned to drugs thinking it would be okay if she was high. I don't know what else to say except this is a good example of drug abuse and what it does. I've heard people say "I don't care if i get aids, i just wanna have fun." But they don't know what they are talking about. Once you get it, you ARE sorry. It's a terrible way to die, and you better believe you will regret it. And to die at a young age. It just isn't worth it.

Summary: GIA
Review: You watch this account of Gia's life and you're struck by the sadness within her. She felt alone and abandoned continually. Could things have been different for her? I don't know. but there are a million other women out there like her who don't become supermodels. Sad tale of a woman with potential. Jolie is stunning in her dead-on portrayal of a woman who is so lonely. I loved the line, "You have to go. Everyone always has to go. Where is everyone going?" Gia was a little girl in a woman's body, in a business world... she needed someone to care for her and she didn't have it, until it was too late. It's a sad tale, but worth watching.

Summary: Sad and Tragic but still a great movie
Review: Angelina Jolie gives the performance of her career in this film that depicts the meteoric rise and hard fall of supermodel Gia Carangi. This is the story of a tough, streetsmart and fast talking gril from Philadelphia who became one of the world's most successful models. Her intense beauty and wild ways open doors for all that was good and bad. She had a voracious appetite for sex with both men and women but what she loved most was definately to get high on cocaine and heroin. Her fast pace life filled with money, fame and cover shots for the world's top fashion magazines came spiralling out of control when she became a bonafide junkie that could not stop sticking needles in her arms and sniffing large quantities of coke on a daily basis. Finally her world came to a halt when she died at the age of 26 of Aids from apparently either a contaminated needle or the many sex partners that she had at various times in her life. It could be both but the film tends to draw the conclusion that she was infected with the virus thru a contaminated needle. Angelina Jolie who in my opinion is more beautiful than the real Gia, nails this character to the wall with an incredible intensity and finess. She gives a brilliant over the top performance and is with this movie in my opinion that she jumps to the category of the Hollywood heavyweights. She is truly an excellent actress and if this movie would have been release theatrically, she would of atleast grabbed an Oscar nomination as Best Actress. She did however won the Golden Globe for her performance in this incredible film. This movie even though it is sad and tragic and tough to watch at times is one of my favorites and I recommended to anyone who not only likes Angelina Jolie or wants to see what a great actress she is but also to the people who at one time or another have contimplated doing drugs and they can see for themselves what the final outcome is:SELF DESTRUCTION and probably even death like in the case of Gia who wanted to live a normal life but her inner demons (whatever they were) and obsession for the drugs and unprotected sex ended her life at an early age. You shouldn't miss this movie, it is available for rental in most video stores but don't rent it buy it this is a great film to have in any movie collection. I bought my copy and you should too.

Summary: A decent film elevated by Joli's amazing performance
Review: "Gia" is a decent film that is elevated due to the extraordinary performance of Angelina Jolie as the title character. Jolie won a Golden Globe for her brilliant portrayal of a young woman who was intensely sexual, deeply vulnerable, vivacious, and self-destructive. The film covers Gia's life as she goes from being a punky kid to the world's first supermodel. Along the way she has plenty of access to drugs and easy sex, but few opportunities for real love and support. Tragically, she contracted AIDS from her IV drug use and died before she was able to create a meaningful life for herself. The film is a little exploitive when it comes to portraying Gia's lesbian relationship, but Jolie's performance elevates the film above pure titillation.

Summary: T, A, And an Absence of Acting
Review: Angeline Jolie shows all her assets in this HBO crapfest...and after her clothes hit the floor, she's got nothing left. Monkey lips tries to portray a model, but ends up looking like a stripper throughout most, and can't ennunciate to save her idiotic life. Can you say, "Thanks, Dad"?

Summary: GIA is AMAZiNG.....a tear jerker so get ur tissue
Review: I cried so much watching this because it is a true life story of GIA. A tragic girl who life is so memorising. Powerful is the word for this. Make sure u have a box of tissue when u watch it cuz you will need it.

A true life of what it takes to being a model and all the fame that comes with it. This is a rough business.

You will cry ur eyes out then watching Titanic which i cry too. I am in love with Gia after watching this movie. DVD version is great!!!!

Summary: Jolie Love
Review: I think this film could have been so much better if they'd only keep from switching scenes so much! It get's real annoying when Angelina Jolies' lesbian love scene is interrupted with her boyfriends face. What was the director thinking? Ruin an amazing love scene between two gorgeous women with another scene of Gia's boyfriend being interviewed. Very poor!

This film is still great nevertheless. Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Mitchell made a great couple, and the story was deeply moving. Has to be Jolie's best film to date.

There is an "unrated" version of this film which is a lot sexier! May or may not be on DVD yet, but it is on VHS.
