Review: A cinematic masterpiece by the gay Fellini... Bruce LaBruce,this is one of my favorite movies of all times. I know quite a fewfilm professors at notable film schools who also think this movie is brilliant. If you are not offended by pornographic and violent images, you'll love this movie!

Summary: Campy Fantasies/Brilliant Film
Review: Anyone who cites this film as racist obviously misses the entire point of this film. If the black men in this film are treated as objects it is because everyone (white and black) are objects of sexual fantasy. This film is about the wild fantasies that most people never have the courage to act out. For these fantasies to work people have to be dehumanized. Hustlers are sex OBJECTS not dinner guest popping by for tea and sympathy. No one in this film is meant to be a real, fully-human being with possibly the exception of Monti Ward (Tony Ward) and Jurgen Anger (Bruce LaBruce). Even the last beach scene of the film continues the notion of living in one's fantasy: this time Jurgen's. The film is brilliant for its Hollywood satire and its unabashed portrayal of sexual fantasy. It's not Shakespeare, but it's definitely worth taking a look at.

Summary: More mince than a butcher's shop!
Review: Bruce LaBruce directs and stars in this low-budget but highly enjoyable romp centred around hustling, casual sex and gay mincing.
LaBruce is great in the lead role and Tony Ward (one-time Madonna fling)is good as the lunkhead hustler.
I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with it)but enjoyed this all the same. Hit and run filmmaking at its best.

Summary: A 90's version of a Warhol/Morrissey production.
Review: Hustler White gives us a peek into the life of a male hustler. It focuses on one hustler in particular named Montgomery, played by Tony Ward. I was pleasantly surprised by Ward's acting ability; very natural. He is actually capable of doing more than just standing there and looking good; not that there's anything wrong with that. Thanks to the hustlers, we get to see a variety of kinks and fetishes such as bondage, spanking, piercings, leather, and a few more that I probably shouldn't mention here. The sex scene with the amputee was a definite first for me. I don't think 5 minutes go by without seeing at least one naked man. Hustler White is erotic, gross, humorous, and sad all at once. It looks like the type of film Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey would make today. There were even a few surprises thrown in near the end. I think Tony Ward has the potential to become a cult star. If Hollywood bigshots don't snatch him up then hopefully independent directors such as Gregg Araki and Gus Van Sant will. I would definitely like to see more of this man--with or without clothes. END

Summary: Good if you just want to be entertained
Review: Hustler White, is a strange tale of two people who are looking for the same thing and don't know how to go about getting it. If you are looking for high art then you don't want to see this movie, if you are looking for somehting with a message again this isn't the movie for you. But if you are into camp and weirdness for camp and weirdness sake then this is just the right film for you. It has a few laughs and you might enjoy the reffernces taken from better films. Again this isn't a movie for all tastes. This movie contains graphic sex and language, not for the faint of heart.

Summary: Irritating, unlikeable characters abound!
Review: I don't do a lot of reviews, but I wanted to warn people who might casually purchase this film just because it has a gay theme (my mistake, dear Amazon.com). There is absolutely nothing likeable about any of the characters in this chaotic "story". There are scenes that seem to exist just to shock -- god knows what they really have to do with the main storyline. There is quite a lot of violence as well. Spend your money on well-made films like "Beautiful Thing", "Get Real" or "Queer as Folk" if you need a gay fix!

Summary: What a find!
Review: I had no idea what to expect, other than the sultry, sexy beauty of Tony Ward. What I was not prepared for was the light-hearted screen-play, the humor and quirkiness, the affection between Tony (called Montgomery 'Monti' Ward here) and writer/director/co-star Bruce LaBruce. Especially considering the subject matter: street hustling. Yes, it is utterly perverse and 'out there' sexually. But the over-riding feeling is loving and sweet and fun. A lovely fantasy. What a find!

Review: I have seen a lot of films, but this is definitely the worst. The content of this film almost made me ashamed to be gay, as it showed a real ugly side to a sick and twisted world of the film-makers fantasies. You couldn't even class this garbage as good porn.

Summary: This Movie Is Hilarious
Review: I just rented this movie the other day to watch in my dorm lounge and it damn near killed me. :) What a beautiful world! I live in and love southern california which this film, despite production values, reeks of. Plus, it's got graphic sex, violence, crime, machismo, chase scenes and a happy ending . . . everything silly and seedy (yet fun!) that queers get left out of in straight films. Plus, it's a welcome relief from the sappy, shallow, straight-pandering gay films (read: Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss) that make it mainstream. And, unlike mainstream gay films (read: Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss), it's got black people! (and ones that myself as a black queer absolutely *loved*. Bless you dr. davis! I *love* that scene: "that was not a rape. merely an exercise in black power.")
 Though the movie is better served with LaBruce's autobiography The Reluctant Pornographer, which shows this particular work of art to be the result of something greater. Plus, it helps to understand his blend of sincerity and camp that's evident in the film. :) I came here to buy it!
