Summary: Smart, but problematic
Review: Smart Dialogue and clever conventions. I would rate this higher, however the waivering sentimentality really made this otherwise acrid comedy an endurance test. Guess I'm like Deedee - I take my comedie's black and very bittersweet.

Summary: the best comdey of 98
Review: it's funny, the story line is good that is all i look for in a love Lisa Kudrow should get some kinda award for her role.

Summary: Great movie.
Review: Christina Ricci was great, but Lisa Kudrow stole the movie

Summary: Funniest voice-over narration in years!
Review: Entertaining, circuitous plot with a lot of totally unexpected twists and turns. Sarcastic, sardonic, and witty, but with a sweet message. Love does prevail!

Summary: horray for christina
Review: i think this movie was totally original but one thing reamins those who are offended by raw language this film is not for you all in all this movie was great!

Summary: See It...But Just One Time.
Review: Okay, so the plot was a little far-fetched, and the overall message of the movie is not exactly profound...but the movie was well-done and was surprisingly quite funny. Christina Ricci was fine...I still can't decide whether to hate or feel sorry for her character. By far the most impressive performance was by Lisa Kudrow, whose character was quite different from Phoebe of FRIENDS. She deserved an Oscar nomination.

Summary: This is a cool movie.
Review: Intelligent, funny, attitude. What more do you need in a movie? I loved the irreverance to the audience the twisted story line but most of all the movie unexpectedly brought up many of the questions about love, sex and relationships we all probably have floating around in our heads. Watch it with a beer, watch it on your own or watch it to see whether Deedee's ideas about 'straight' men's reactions to gays is right. Ricci has certainly grown up since Mermaids and the Addams Family. Its nice seeing TV stars get a chance to act too.

Summary: A Heartless movie with a REAL HEART
Review: Once in a while there is a movie with that magical mixture of good cast, great direction, and just charming in its delivery. It's nice not to see formula and it made me feel humble by the experience it gave to me. Thanks to you Cast, Director, and your whole team. This is a great one. I am really grateful - I am not the kind of person that could give this a bad review.

Summary: The best movie I've seen in years!!!!!
Review: As some of the other reviews prove, this movie isn't for everyone. It's an extremely intelligent movie, and it demands an open-minded audience that is not turned off by controversial subject matter. The technical aspects of the film, with clever filming and excellent use of voice-overs, are superb. So is the acting. Watch it, but be prepared for something you haven't seen before - a new way of producing a film! Superb!

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: While Christina Ricci certainly gives the best preformace of her (short) career, Lisa Kudrow truly carries the film, through her brilliant, New York Film Critics award-winning portrayal of Lucia, a bitter, sarcastic school teacher whose brother has just died of AIDS. Ricci receieved a Golden Globe nomination and the film itself won two Independent Spirit Awards, including Best First Feature. Despite it's countless other awards, The Opposite of Sex did not receieve anywhere near the amount of recognition it deserved. It is a brilliant, hilarous, and at times, insightful comedy that I can guarantee will be spending much time in my VCR. I highly reccomend purchasing this outstanding, award-winning film...you'll LOVE it!
