Summary: "Then, from the blue: enter you."
Review: Unfairly pigeonholed as a "gay" movie, this hilarious and clever comedy will warm the heart of any closet romantic. The story is of one eye-opening summer day and night in the life of a misfit amateur playwright in downtown Manhattan, and his frenzied attempts to bed the young hunk who picks him up in the subway. In a "trick of fate," those desperate machinations surprisingly enrich the lives of both the couple and the people with whom they interact on their frustrating nocturnal odyssey.

All the performances are strong; the leads are much more than pretty faces. Look for show-stealing supporting turns by Clinton Leupp as the "absolutely bitter" drag queen, and Lorri Bagley as an aspiring sex therapist who appears ditzy, but ultimately presides (while topless) over the film's literally "key" interaction. The writing and direction shine; TRICK rewards repeat viewings. Note especially how the early audition scene ("would YOU sing this song?") foreshadows the movie's wonderful finale, which is guaranteed to mist the eyes of even the most jaded queen.

Review: TRICK IS A SWEET LITTLE MOVIE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY GAY OR STRAIGHT ADULTS, EVEN IF THE GAY WORLD THINKS IT'S INTENDED FOR GAY'S ONLY, THAT WOULD SAY THAT ALL THE MILLIONS OF STRAIGHT ROMANTIC COMEDIES ARE FOR STRAIGHT VIEWERS ONLY. GET REAL! TRICK IS A SIMPLE ROMANTIC COMEDY THAT HAS A SIMPLE PLOT. TWO YOUNG MEN RUN INTO A FEW PROBLEMS TRYING TO FIND A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN GET TOGETHER FOR A ONE NIGHT STAND. DURING ALL THEIR TROUBLE TRYING TO FIND THIS PLACE, THEY GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. THEY NEVER SLEEP TOGETHER, BUT YOU WON'T CARE. YOU'LL REALIZE THAT "TRICK" HAS A HEART AND THAT'S BETTER THAN A SEX SCENE. CHRISTIAN CAMPBELL AND J.P. PITOC ARE THE LEADING MEN. TORI SPELLING IS EXCELLENT IN HER SUPPORTING ROLE. WATCH THIS MOVIE WITH SOME FRIEND'S.

Summary: It BUUUUUUUUURNS! CoCo Peru Fan!!!!!
Review: I love this movie - it is on the top of my list with "Beautiful Thing" as my favorite gay romance movies. It is hilarious with wonderful performances and harks back to the old romantic comedies of the past. Gays and lesbians don't have those 30's and 40's romantic comedy movies so it is wonderful when someone makes one.

The leads are very good (as everyone here has mentioned) and Tori spelling is hilarious (the cheese fries speech alone deserves an award)but the best part of the movie is Miss CoCo Peru's scene.

It is sooo hyserical I often put this movie on and just watch that scene to crack up and my friends and I quote it all the time. "It's big, It's beautiful and you're gonna love it" She should have her own movie!

By the end of this movie when the music swells my heart does too. Full of romance and possibility. I love this movie.

Summary: Must See! Even if you are not gay!
Review: `How often have I been disappointed by gay-themed films? Countless. They are often too stereo-typed, too sexual consious, too racial conscious, or simply just damn.
Then, TRICK came out and my friends and I were so entertained! The story is about two young gay boys, one is a hot go-go dancer (Mark) and the other is a wanna-be-a-musical writer (Gabriel), meeting up, and spending a night together in NYC. Though the first intention of both of them was just getting off as a one night stand,`` things did not go well as they planned when much drama started happening around them.
The movie is so sweet and, the best thing is, NOT unrealistic. What these two gay boys experience over night are happening to many gay youth (though surely in different levels and situations). I believe most of gay guys can feel Gabriel's excitement about the chance of having a go-go over his place, and those good looking ones can relate Mark's twisted feeling about being always seen as a sex object and his`` overly sexual attitude to fight with it. And even non-gay can agree with the story and the character's feelings to a great extent (according to my straight friends). Boys or girls, gay or straight, this film definetly will bring you a warm heart feeling and smile. If you cannot enojoy this film, you need to admit that you are somewhat too jaded!!`

Summary: Quite a Surprise !!
Review: TRICK is a delicious, delightful farce-romantic comedy that came out of nowhere to be a film to be cherished. The trick, here, are the extraordinary performances of John Paul Pitoc and Christian Campbell who play two gay young men who meet with lust on their minds...and whose characters grow into warm and sensitive ones. TRICK carries the unique ability of creating a fine love story without the usual angst of gay love stories. Campbell has a winning personality and a gift for comedy, and PITOC gives a career boosting performance. Pitoc has the rare acting skill of being able to say nothing...and still conveying the growth of a character. He is a find!! The supporting cast is likewise excellent. The story revolves around two young men whose meeting leads to a series of zany and bizarre events that prevent any chance of their being alone. Tori Spelling is surprisingly good as Campbell's ditsy, no-talent off-off Broadway actress-singer friend. TRICK is a welcome breath of romantic comedy.... and its charm will be felt by everyone regardless of sexual preferences. Out of the blue comes TRICK...and don't miss it !

Summary: A Pleasant Surprise !
Review: "Trick" was definitely worth the money to rent on home video. I just recently watched it and was surprised at how much l enjoyed it. Christian Campbell turns in a wonderful, vunerable performance as the main character, Gabe, who is having trouble with writer's block and facing his own inadequacies about being a young, gay man. One wonderful scene that l enjoyed in the movie was between the characters Gabe and Mark at the subway entrance. After an argument, Gabe runs after Mark to give him his keys as Mark stands below the steps waiting for some kind of answer or apology. But Gabe doesn't answer and Mark leaves. You feel crushed and then all of sudden Gabe blurts out, "Are you hungry ?" but no one answers. You're left thinking, could this possibly be the end and then all of sudden Mark appears from around the corner with a small smile on his face. That was one of the favourite scenes in the entire movie. John Paul Pitoc does a fantastic job at portraying Mark, Gabe's object of desire. Although l've never heard of the two main actors, l truly believe that we will definitely see more of their talent in future projects. Tori Spelling finally does some credible work as Gabe's bestfriend, a struggling wannabe singer-actress. Although the film tends to drag on too long in some scenes (ie. Tori Spelling's song and dance number), the overall dialogue and energy is refreshing to watch. Some great comedic highlights in the film are between Gabriel and a drag queen in the washroom of a dance club and Tori Spelling's emotional outburst in a resturant. Both Christian Campbell and John Paul Pitoc do a great job at keeping the sexual attraction strong and sparkling throughout the film and by the end you're left feeling warm and happy, wanting to see more. I heard about this film through the Sundance Film Festival and am glad that l got the chance to see it. I highly recommend it to anyone with any open heart for a sweet romance.
