Rating: Summary: Funniest, Most Touching GLBT Movie Yet Review: I waited a while before renting this movie, because I had heard mixed reviews and I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the time on it or not. Within the first fifteen minutes of the movie I was sorry I hadn't rented it sooner. The story, the town, and the characters had me so drawn in that I couldn't help but feel like I was a part of the movie.
All of the characters had a lot of chemistry, making the movie very believable. It's a multidemensional movie that tells the story of several characters realizing and coming to terms with their sexuality. Being that they are in a small, conservative town in the South, the risks of being openly gay are much greater. The characters have to struggle to maintain family relationships, romantic relationships, and friendships, making the movie dramatic, humorous, and touching all at once.
Between the hilarious, sad, romantic, and touching scenes, I think this movie is great for anyone to watch, especially family and friends who are learning about and trying to accept a loved one's sexuality. This movie makes you see that love is love and that if we all judged a little less and cared a little more, the world would be an all around better place.
Rating: Summary: Good attempt Review: An odd little movie, with many unknown actors. The comedy/drama in the film is mostly unfunny and undramatic, but some scenes do contain real impact. And one scene is very funny - when the main character goes to the video store for lesbian movies. What a hoot! Otherwise, a good attempt at creating a gay and lesbian movie. This is probably best described as a lightweight and interesting failure - but still worth a look.
Rating: Summary: A funny movie with some unexpected depth. Review: This is a moving and well-made film about a young music student (Kevin Bishop) coming to terms with his sexuality, and his coming of age amid the world of professional music. Juliet Stevenson is brilliant as the boy's mother, who experiences an awakening of her own. It was filmed entirely in Barcelona with British actors, though most of the characters are American and the story takes place primarily in the US. A top-notch cast and production, augmented by an excellent musical score of classical music. This is a movie of subtle nuances and inevitable truths, and is not to be missed.
Rating: Summary: Whatever is in the Water...it aint good! Review: I'm harsh with lesbian movies...and this dvd is a good example as to why. Plot: Really pretty strait chick leaves husband for unattractive lesbian: Horrible make-out scene's follow. I considered tearing my eyes from my skull as I watched the lame acting of the brunette in this flick. I don't know who she is, or who told her she could act, but someone screwed up big-time! The 'love scene' was a complete rip off. Ugly, stumpy legged brunnete lesbian crawls into bed with sweet looking blonde woman...and the screen fades to black. Wow. (...) Skip this (...) movie...for your own sake.
Rating: Summary: It's in the Toilet Review: This movie was horrible. I expected a B flick, but come on, I've seen porn with better actors!!! Don't buy it, it's not worth your hard earned money.
