Summary: Ooohh I pierced the toast.........
Review: Watching this movie I could not stop laughing. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams make an amazing comedic team in this movie. Robin Williams is very convincing as gay nightclub owner Armand Goldman and Nathan Lane is absolutely hilarious as the flamboyantly gay and overly emotional Albert who is the star of the club and Armand's partner. The situations in this movie are extremely funny such as Albert pretending to be the mother of Armand's son, Armand trying to give lessons to Albert on how to act like a man that scene is enough to leave you in stitches, let me just spew out a few of the lines from that scene:
"Ohh I pierced the toast"
"Albert you old so and so (flamboyantly) how bout those Dolphins?"
There are also great supporting performances in this movie by the legendary actor Gene Hackman as the straight laced Senator Kevin Keely, Diane Wiest as the senator's wife Louise, Calista Flockhart as their daughter Barbara and Hank Azaria as Armand and Albert's "houseman" Agador. Here are some other great lines from the movie:
"Go away I don't want to be seen I'm hideous"
"You know what I'll just take one more schneken for the road, when the schneken beckons"
"He blew a bubble while I was singing, he can't do that while I'm singing"
All in all this is a splendid comedy and very memorable performances by Nathan Lane and Robin Williams who prove to be brilliant comedians and wonderful actors.

Summary: Nathan Lane , whiny queen with a heart of gold.
Review: It was inevitable that this remake would always be unfairly compared with the french original and admittedly it is nowhere near as stylish. But for all that it does try hard and succeeds quite well in the comedy department thanks to the subdued efforts of Williams and the screaming queen special effects of Nathan Lane. God bless him. If the original had been produced in the US I suspect they would have made a different film entirely. The stereotypical portryals are not over the top, as some critics in the gay media have howled-lets face it us gays are famous for our comebacks, ribald humour and love of drama & tragedy. But only a minority are blessed with such wit. I enjoyed the film both as a comedy and as a statement of how far our society has come in its acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, as if that even needs mentioning. The choice of South Beach, Florida a gay mecca, is appropriate. All those beautiful bods. The storyline is well known and been described much better than I could hope to emulate. A fun movie I recommend for those in need of an uplifting laugh but certainly not comedy of the year-and please dont do a sequel. I dont think I could face Gene Hackman as a platinum blonde twice in one lifetime.

Summary: Ignore all the stereotypes, concentrate on the fun
Review: Believe everything you hear about this movie being too PC, too many stereotypes, nowhere near the quality of the original, etc (really, what did you expect? This is a remake, duh!) The movie IS a lot of fun; Robin Williams and Nathan Lane were delightful in their portrayal of the gay couple, and Agador (aka Chief Wiggum/Apu/Moe from the Simpsons) adds the silliest note in the movie. I laughed so much when the media hounds the Senator's family and when Williams is trying to teach Lane how to act like a man. It's a cute movie; just don't take it seriously, otherwise you won't enjoy it.

Summary: The Funniest Thing I saw All Week
Review: The birdcage is a beautifully camp film based on an original French story. A simple story about the problems faced by the Gay community and those who live with them, when it comes to explaining their lifestyle to the less open minded. Not sentimental or over flattering to the Gay community, and very funny it makes its point perfectly without being trite. it's definitely worth an hour and a half of your life

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The cast does a wonderful job making the story entertaining and making the improbable situations seem realistic. This movie is one I can watch over and over again. I recommend it for anyone who is a Robin Williams or Nathan Lane fan, as well as anyone who wants to enjoy an hour or two of laughs.

Summary: I can watch it over and over...
Review: This movie makes me laugh every time I see it. Yes, there are a lot of stereotypes in it, and the plot is predictable. But the humor and the acting are hilarious! I never get tired of watching it.

Summary: Delightfully Fab!
Review: This movie is wonderful from start to finish. It covers an incredible amount of plot area but most of all is both fun and funny. Robin Williams does a great job "playing gay". He has plenty of energy, and is talent really adds to the picture. The stereotypes are used to the movie's advantage, without being forced down the audience's throat or being misused. Lane also does a wonderful job in his role, and the movie leaves you laughing constantly. This movie is incredible and maybe even a bit inspirational. I recommend it for everyone, gay, straight, bi, unsure, confused... ENJOY!

Summary: Superb conversation starter
Review: Although this movie debuted before gay marriage and legal partnerships became buzz words in suburban America, the movie really hits on the current social landscape. The conservative senator eventually realizes that it's not who makes a family, it is what makes a familiy (a fellow conservative "moral leader) is found dead in bed with a prostitute whereas the gay couple is genuinely compassionate even after everything the senator has done.

Summary: Hillarious and irresistable logic
Review: The greatest argument in defense of playful decadence, gender-bending and individuality since Prince put on the "rude boy" badge and declared himself sheriff with his "Dirty Mind" and "Controversy" albums. Bravo, I love to see the good guys winning and I especially love laughing in the process.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Transcendentally Funny
Review: The hilarity of this movie defies the capacity of my brain. There is subtle genius to it. Robin Williams is great as usual, Nathan Lane is classic, but it is Hank Azaria who completely steals the show as the priceless Agadore. Make it your Life mission to see this movie at least once. It's worth it.
