Summary: Poignant
Review: Being a woman, I don't know what the guys think of this movie, but I liked it. I wish the two lovers could have stayed together forever, but they were with each other in the end. And the main protag found his inner strength. The acting was pretty good too. It even had some faces in it that I recognized from the mainstream.

Summary: Long-term gay relationship depicted in excellent film!
Review: .
For me, the most interesting aspect of this film is that it follows the course of a long-term relationship between two gay men through many years and explores the changes within the relationship, while showing that the love between these two gay men can endure.

Although similarities and comparisons between this film and "Thelma and Louise" are inevitable, the two films are nothing alike. The only thing they share in common is a drive through the dessert and a run-in with the law.

I very much enjoyed seeing a gay relationship portrayed on-screen in a way that showed that the love between two men can last longer than a one-night stand. Not many gay-themed movies focus on actual relationships.

It doesn't hurt that the two lead characters aren't hard too look at either. My favorite scene is probably the first kiss (and the second) where these two men are trying to fight their feelings for each other and fail the moment their lips meet. I could watch that scene again and again. I think it's one of the greatest same-sex kisses I've ever seen on screen.

Jill St. John (yes, the former "Bond Girl" and real-life wife of actor Robert Wagner) steals every scene in which she appears as the knowing mother of one of the boys.

Alexis Arquette is also a scene-stealer as the flamboyantly gay room-mate of one of the lead characters.

I would recommend this film for gay audiences and for anyone who wants to see what a real relationship between two gay men can be like.

Summary: Best Movie I've Seen in a Long Time (any genre!)
Review: What an incredible movie! It works on so many levels: Gay Romance, Road trip movie, Comedy, and 70's Period piece.
With the exception of the also excellent Beautiful Life, there aren't that many gay themed movies out there that can be considered truly romantic. The Trip totally delivers on that.
The acting is superb. Larry Sullivan can make you fall on the floor laughing one second and break your heart the next. He's one of the best actors I've seen in years and I hope he continues finding success. Steve Braun is equally impressive. He's got that Brad Pitt thing going on but he's more than an imitation. He owns this role and is extremely convincing in the evolution of his character.
Another great talent to emerge from this movie is first-time writer/director Miles Swain. I can't wait to see what's next from him.
I highly recommend this movie to everyone (gay, bi, straight - whatever). It's an emotional journey that everyone should go through.

Summary: Simply Superb!!!!!
Review: If you are looking for a a feel-good movie that will run the gammit laughter to tears and everything in between, there it is. The touching love story unfolding between the two main charaters takes a very gradual but believable path. The wigs need a littel work but we were so caught up the obvious attraction between these two that the little imperfections were easy to ignore. After watching, my partner and I decided to suprise each other with a copy of the movie. He bought one for me and I for him without telling each other. It is rare that we agree on a movie and make it a purchase but this one captivated us both and held us there until the end. If I have one gripe, it is that I didn;t like the way it ended. I am not a drama romantic but I would like to have seen the two mains go on to a long and fulfilling life together. Who needs to be reminded that bad things happen to good people - especially when the chemistry is right.

Summary: Tripping...
Review: There are things about this film that share inspiration with the more popular and well known "Angels in America" - the gay Republican, the time frame of pre-AIDS to AIDS America, stuff like that. The main characters are funny and endearing in many ways, but just a little flat. However, they are recognizable - maybe the whole world back then was a little flat compared to today?

Okay, the story in a nutshell could be the same kind of coming-out story many of us have. Boy finds he likes boy, boy doesn't want to like boy, boy resists liking boy, boy meets boy, boy loves boy. The first character, Alan, is a YR and a journalist who wants to expose the evils of that evil he has inside of him, and invites a young activist Tommy to do an interview. The rest, as they say, is history. There are lots of campy one-liners as indeed there has to be in any gay film like this. There are cameos and smaller roles for people of dubious fame (a Bond girl, anyone?) but ultimately the tale revolves around the Alan-Tommy affair.

Worth the trip!

Summary: This One is a MUST SEE!
Review: I have never written reviews before, but I cannot let this opportunity pass. This movie has everything!

It's funny, romantic, inspirational, sad, and full of hope. Both Alexis Arquette and Larry Sullivan are exceptional. The quemistry portrayed in their two characters was so natural and needless to say nothing less than magnificent. I gave this movie 5 stars, but I think it deserves much more stars!

Summary: great love story
Review: i absolutely loved this movie. this was a truly touching love story. i really felt that it showed the type of love that two people can share, and also shows how sometimes opposites really can attract. the main difference beteween the two characters were their political views and how they chose to exercise their views. but the movie also showed that preconceived notions of how someone should be cannot hold back who they really are. i also like this movie because it gives someone my age a chance to see what it was like to live in the 70s. it gives a sense of the troubles and trials that the gay community went through during that time frame also. i love the fact that all through the movie the two main characters always understood each other and maintained their love for one another. to be totally honest i did not see one bad performance in the whole movie either. i really liked the character played by alexis arquette, i thought that he was a terrific comic relief. the funniest part of the movie is the strip scene, just fyi. in all honesty the movie is completely basic and sticks to good filmmaking and makes this into a great romantic comedy. this is one of the great gay themed movies to come out in a long time (there was no pun intended there either).
