Summary: Great for beginners
Review: I recommend this workout series for beginners only. From my own experience, I've been using The Method Precision Toning with Jennifer Kries (which is EXCELLENT), I was looking to add more to my pilates library. Unfortunately, I hadn't checked these reviews first and bought this DVD blindly.

Lynne Robinson does an excellent job of explaining proper positioning for the exercises. She is very thorough, however, this can be excruciatingly SLOW if you're already familiar with pilates methods. Hence, I recommend highly for beginners.

One other thing, she uses many props. A scarf, a tennis ball, a towel, small hand-weights, etc... For me, personally, if I have to go searching around the house for these props, it steals my momentum of wanting to exercise. I prefer the simplicity of pure matwork which requires only a mat, or if no mat, even just the floor!

Recommended for strict beginners, and those with limited range of motion, and master's athletes. If you are of intermediate or advanced pilates level, look elsewhere such as anything with Jennifer Kries.

Summary: Weekly Workout
Review: I saw this video just one time. Then after I gave it my mam.She is 68year old. I think this video more helpful to older woman or people who needs to move after disease. I was very disappointed.

Summary: Not a Real Pilates Workout
Review: I was very disappointed by this tape. I have learned that I prefer tapes and books by actual Certified Pilates instructors. This tape is also not good for people who don't like to use "props" while exercising - you'll need a scarf, a tennis ball... Lynne Robinson also contradicts other instructors in the description of the "navel to spine" technique - a key element in doing Pilates correctly. While this video may have benefit in terms of exercise, don't buy it if you want a true Pilates workout.

Summary: The ultimate feel-good workout
Review: I've been doing the Weekly Workout for about six weeks now - I'm a middle-aged bookworm, had never found an exercise program that I could stick with. I started this program not for weight loss, but for stiffness and muscle-tone, and it's amazing. I sleep better, I wake up with no stiffness, I can feel my posture improve day by day as I sit at a desk at work. This is *not* an aerobic workout, but that's what I like about it.

The instructor explains everything very clearly, the slow movement is very meditative, and the relaxation segment is a great finish. If you're a beginner, like I am (although some of the exercises have advanced versions), who hates to exercise, this is the perfect workout.

Summary: The only exercise programme I've ever stuck with!
Review: If an exercise hater like I used to be can do this - so can you.

I was introduced to Pilates a couple of years ago. The slow pace appealed to my couch-potato nature. I started with the "Body Control" video and then bought this one.

If you are looking for a high-impact workout then this is not for you. There is a great deal of thought going into the position of each part of your body while carrying out the slow (yes that word again) controlled movements.

Lynne Robinson has a very calm teaching style and I don't mind using hand weights, tennis ball and a body-band (I don't own a scarf!)

I do one set of exercises each day and have never felt like not bothering. The results, a flat stomach, toned arms and a firm bum. I would recommend this video to anyone young or old (I'm in my mid thirties) the results speak for themselves.

Summary: Excellent instruction for the beginner
Review: The instruction and exercises demonstrated in these two videos are excellent. Lynne Robinson delivers precise instruction for exercises which can be performed by the beginner, and I mean "beginner". So many tapes purporting to be for the beginner seem way out of my mobility range, leave me frustrated and feeling inadequate, but I can actually do these exercises. However, it is necessary to do the exercises to understand their effect. I initally watched the tapes through and feel asleep - nothing much seemed to be happening, and I thought the exercises presented couldn't be that effective. I then got down on the floor and started performing a few of the movements, and that's a whole different story. This is a challenging workout in a whole different way from the usual grunt and strain. I highly recommended these two videos as a complete set, but don't just watch them - do them!

Summary: Good Content, no bells & whistles
Review: The set is awful. The music isn't great. But Lynne knows her stuff & is very gentle. It feels a lot like yoga, unlike a lot of Pilates videos & dvds out there. Definitely a good choice for a beginner, or someone who wants to get into Pilates but has some physical limitations they need to be careful of.
