Summary: Aerobics can be fun!
Review: I just purchased this video and I am still trying to become coordinated, but I am catching on quickly. I love this work-out. I am not much for aerobics(I prefer strength training), but this video is very motivating and definately gets the heart rate up. I know nothing about dance, but this video is inspiring. Elise Foss is a great host. She makes the moves look easy and always has a smile on her face. She is very encouraging in a quirky fun-loving manner. A couple step aerobic videos I have tried were too fast and complicated for a beginner like myself. Elise explains the moves briefly before the routine and offers suggestions before the workout. There is both a warm-up and cool down at the end. I love the moves and rhythm. She explains her form very well and is ever encouraging. I am a mother of two and this video helps give me the energy to last all day with two young boys (toddler and infant).

Summary: Fun Workout!
Review: I just tried Viva Latin Workout Video and loved it. I come from a dance background although an injury stopped the fun years ago. I found this video energetic while being safe. I worked up a sweat, had a great time and the workout was done before I knew it.

Summary: Don't buy this
Review: I love workout videos, but this was the worst! It looks like somebody filmed it with a camcorder. Don't waste your money.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I read great reviews and got excited to have fun with latin beat and dance steps.

Unfortunately, it is a basic aerobics workout to generic, uninspiring music.

I wanted something different and this wasn't it. I bought four various DVDs or VHS together and this was the worst one.

You will sweat, but it is not a dance cardio workout. Just your average aerobics class.

Summary: This is the most FUN video workout ever!
Review: I really enjoyed this exercise video because the rhythm and the instructor made me want to dance! I learned cool dance steps that I can use. Finally, there is an easy Latin rhythm class to follow in your home!

Summary: Great workout video
Review: I recently tried this video and it's a great workout. It's hard not to get excited while watching it. My 17 year old niece loves it too, especially learning the new dance steps. It's about the right length and challenging enough to do over and over.

Summary: Enjoyed exercising (finally)
Review: I tend to dread exercising, but love dancing. I thought I'd try this video to see if I would like it. After reading the many reviews, I thought it was worth a try. I loved it. I actually wasn't wishing it was over with like I do with other exercise programs. I still have to get a few of the moves down, but even with not doing all of them correctly, I was really working up a sweat. I did it before dinner and wasn't even that hungry for dinner afterwards (a plus!).

Summary: AWESOME VIDEO!!
Review: I'm always looking for a new twist for my workouts. I recently borrowed this from a friend. I liked it so much, I bought my own. Elise has such a great energy level and enthusiasm, that you can't help but move along with her. It's a good pace and a great workout! The latin theme is great and you don't have to be a dance expert to figure out the steps. I know there's a Spanish edition, too. I hope she makes another one soon!

Summary: I'm grinning while sweating...
Review: I've been testing out a number of exercise videos for the past 4 months since I decided to add a daily morning at-home workout to my routine.

Out of the 10 or so I've bought (after extensive reading of reviews etc.), this one is my favorite and is part of the "regular rotation" on my VCR.

Reasons:
1. This video is fun! Elise teaches the basic moves as she goes, then she strings them together and 10 minutes into it you feel like you're on the dance floor of a local salsa club, the star of the show. In other words you forget you're working out, you're having fun! You're dancing to an infectious beat with a pretty good soundtrack. I find myself doing some of the moves during the rest of the day, mambo-ing in the kitchen, humming snatches of the music.

2. It's quite a workout! By the end of the 30 or 40 minutes or so, I'm drenched and the shower feels oh so great.

3. She's got other women in back of her doing the same moves, so you can feel good knowing that even if you're not making the moves exactly like her, you're on par with "normal" non-latin dancing pros.

4. She's got a goofy south american accent and funny phrasing... during one shimmying move, she says "now shake whatever you find on your way down" LOL and during a mat exercise in the cooldown stretches (which are excellent) "make sure you've got both sitbones on the floor"...stuff like that. It's refreshing.

5. 90% of the moves in the routine from warm up to cool down can be done in a 5' by 5' space, which is about all I have clear in my living room. I've got some other videos that seem to assume you're working out in your local gym.

6. You can "grow" with the video...there's a 12-minute "super workout" following the regular 30-min. workout that I haven't built up yet to be able to do...I just fast forward to the cooldown....but one day...

There are some disadvantages...not all of the moves are fully explained, for example... like she says, "move your hips this way" and then when she does it, her arms are doing one thing and her head is doing another thing while her hips are doing what she said. But with repetition you can start to pick up on all the details. Also there's very little instruction on which foot should go where, she never says "start out with the left" or anything, and only a couple times does she say, "okay, other side". You have to do it a few times and follow along before you can figure out how it's structured. Finally there are a couple mistakes, such as when she says "give me a triple," and she does a double of the move.

But I chalk all that up to her not really being an exercise instructor adept at teaching beginners, and more of a great dancer who decided to make an exercise video. I am definitely a beginner but her infectious enthusiasm and the sheer fun of the workout quickly make up for it.

In sum, any exercise video in which I find myself actually happy and grinning and having fun while the sweat is stinging my eyes (and I really hate to sweat) has to get 5 stars, regardless!
