Summary: Starting to See My Abs Again
Review: After having 2 kids and years of sleeplessness, I thought my abs were a thing of the past. A friend let me borrow this DVD and I love it. It lets me work on what I need to work on, and also fits into my busy schedule when I have time to myself. I looked in the mirror the other day (after using the DVD for 2 months) and I am starting to see my abs again. Follow what the intructor says in terms of exercising properly and other suggestions and I am sure this will help you too.

Summary: Beginner
Review: At first I thought pilates was for flexible and physically fit people. After having my first child I gained 30 pounds and was completely out of shape. From a high recommendation, I started "Pilates Complete for Weight Loss" everyday and within three weeks I saw impressive results. As a beginner not only did I lose some of my pregnancy weight but my breathing and flexibility has improved as well. Pilates is now a part of my daily life and I hope to reach the intermediate level soon.

Summary: Recommended For my Students-Taught By A Certified Instructor
Review: I am a Pilates instructor and recommend this to my students who come to class looking to get in shape and lose weight.

There is a wide range of work outs for them to use and the instruction is expertly done. Prior to recommending it to my students, I watched this DVD and did some research on the instructor's background. Both were impressive (she was trained and certified by Romana Kryzanowska.)

As others have pointed out, Pilates is not a "weight loss" method in and of itself, but was developed to help develop "core" strength and flexibility. It is used extensively in physical rehabilitation; in other words if you are out of shape or have an injury the general nature of Pilates is designed to be helpful to get you back into shape with less stress on your body than other forms of exercise. To me it accurately and faithfully represents what Joseph Pilates developed.

This DVD additionally provides three levels of instruction (Beginner, Intermediate and Advance) with the proper Pilates modifications for each level so you will be able to use it for a long, long time even as you progress and get back into shape.

The notes on the DVD state it "is the perfect complement to any weight-loss program" and instructor reiterates this on the DVD - Pilates will be one aspect in helping you get into shape and other changes in your lifestyle, such as diet, may be needed. There is never a magic bullet that will make you lose weight.

While there are also other physical activities you can engage in trying to get in shape, Pilates is one that is worth considering based on how and why it was originally developed. And if you already know that you would like to make Pilates part of your activity, then this DVD is perfect.

Summary: A great program!
Review: I don't really need to lose weight, but I do need to tone up and improve my flexibility. I've had some injuries that prevent me from doing weights. My physical therapist has been working in some pilates excercises into program and he recommended this title. I'm going between the beginner and intermediate workouts, depending on how I feel. The pace of the workouts is perfect. There's a nice flow, you take the time to focus on each exercise and the instructor gives you breathing cues too, which can really make the difference in Pilates. This is a great program that I will continue to use for quite awhile.

Summary: Great DVD!!!
Review: I had about 10 pounds of stubborn fat to burn shortly after the start of the holidays, especially around the abdominal area. Having recently went to a pilates class, I decided to pick up this DVD to see what it had to offer. The variety is amazing. For someone like me who's time often varies during the week, I love the multitude of workouts that can be customized to meet my needs. But whats truly amazing is that nearly all of exercises are centered around abs which is where I wanted to concentrate, not to mention some for other spots like the butt. These rountines along with a strict, discipline diet help me shed almost 10 pounds in the first month. Love it and highly recommend*****

Summary: Great Workout, Nice Variety!
Review: I really enjoy this DVD - the workouts are very clear and there is a lot of variety. I am a beginner and there is so much here for me. Each level of workout has different models and a half dozen workouts for each level. I'll be busy for a long time with these workouts. I can't imagine wanting anything else from a Pilates DVD!

Summary: Great Workout
Review: I was a bit scared about doing somthing like Pilates, because I am somewhat out of shape. But this DVD is wonderful. It teaches you the basic moves and lets you select workouts of different times and levels. I am still on the beginning level, and may be for awhile, but I am enjoying the workouts and look forward to being able to do the intermediate and advanced levels at some point. Highly recommended.

Summary: Feel The Burn
Review: I wish all DVDs were like this. There is so much on each dvd and I can do exactly what I need. Although it is challenging I find the work also relaxing at the same time. My tummy feels the work and I am feeling my legs get stronger, thoug the exercises target the belly more. I think it because you have to hold up your legs for many of the exercises as well.

Summary: Perfect for the overweight and out of shape
Review: I'm overweight and very out of shape and wanted to try Pilates. The beginner section is really geared to someone like me who needed to be eased into exercise after many years of doing nothing. I especially love the long, slow, detailed warm ups. To some, doing neck and shoulder rolls, foot stretches, etc., may seem like wasted time, but I can't touch my toes and I can't make it twice around the block at a fast pace, so, I needed to be loosen up and get back in touch with my body. I was really pleased that after about a month of 3x week, I can do all the beginner workouts. I won't be moving on to Intermediate for a few more weeks, but I am starting to feel the benefits of Pilates and it's really helping me in my daily activity.
