Rating: Summary: Good for a "Light Day" Workout... Review: I am yet another Kathy Smith fan and I admit this is not one of her more rigorous videos. However, I am NOT a dancer and am not at all coordinated, but I like Kathy so I bought and tried this one -- and I really enjoyed it. I didn't feel clumsy like I usually do dancing {or attempting to!}. I think that, if you view this routine as a workout to do on an 'easy' workout day rather than a hardcore cardioblast, you'll really enjoy it. As the other reviewers have pointed out, the time DID fly! I personally do a lot of tough aerobic exercise videos plus strength training -- I push myself and my body a lot. I like to work out 4-7 days a week, doing both early morning and early evening routines in a single day, and I like to alternate difficult routines with lighter cardio that still works the heart and muscles but is a bit more relaxing. That is also the recommended way to work out - tough days/easier days. So for that kind of fitness mix, this video is a great addition -- fun, fun, fun! But if you only work out 3 days a week, perhaps you should stick with some tougher routines like Smith's Aerobox {great!}, her Kickboxing tape, her Peak Fat Burning video, Karen Voight's Energy Sprint, Tae Bo Advanced, Step Reebok Intense Moves, etc. So "chill" a bit, think of this as a Ricky Martin primer, and enjoy! :)
Rating: Summary: Great dance video Review: If you like to dance, you'll like this video. I thought the cueing was fine, especially with the voice-overs. OK, so I didn't get all the moves the first time, but if I had, wouldn't it have been boring the 10th time around? This gave me something to work towards. Credit should be given to the choreographer, Clara Bassett, the short-haired woman all in black next to Kathy; she also teaches the partner dancing at the end. She's a great choreographer and an excellent dancer. If you want a high-energy workout, imitate the woman behind Kathy in the white top, but if you want to look like a dancer, imitate Clara. While Kathy looks like an exerciser doing steps (with chicken-wing arms), Clara looks like a dancer. The partner lesson at the end was a plus; after doing it a few times, I felt confident enough to go to salsa night at the local dance hall. I recommend wearing smooth-soled shoes and doing this video on an uncarpeted floor to avoid twisting your ankles.
Rating: Summary: good Review: This video is a nice alternative to the ordinary workout tapes. I enjoyed the Latin music and I like learning the new dance steps. I was looking for something different than the same old jump up and down aerobics videos. I think that it does not really allow you to break a sweat unless you are a a beginner or someone who is out of shape. I love Kathy's personality but I agree with the others, her cueing is off. She either cues you to do something and you think she means to do it right then and she doesn't and other times she is cueing you and she has already started doing the move. You will notice that even her aerobics partners have gotten confused with her cueing. In spite of this, I would still recommend this video for a welcome change of pace.
Rating: Summary: Fun and Effective! Review: I bought this video despite some of the less-than-positive reviews that were written on it here. I'm really glad I did. While it doesn't get my heart pounding, it is a good workout if you just need to move around. I work out almost daily, so I use this one twice a week to keep my workouts fun. The choreography is good -- the cueing could use some work, but once you've done it a few times, it's not too hard to keep up with the changes. The group she has is enthusiastic, and the music is really upbeat. I would recommend this video for anyone looking to break the monotony of the weekly workout schedule. Plus, you learn some pretty nifty dance steps!
Rating: Summary: Kathy Smith Latin Rythems Review: This is such a fun video.Everyone in the video is having such a good time. You get your whole body moving in this one.You feel sexy and exhilirated. I have to say that this is one of the funnest Kathy Smith videos so far. I love it. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a have a great time working out.
Rating: Summary: Great Dance Video Review: I thought that the workout was great! Time flew bye and the music was great I felt like I was in a spanish club. I feel that this workout works on your waist and your legs. I do this workout everyday along with Denise Austin's Hit the Spot ABS.
Rating: Summary: or maybe three and a half... Review: I was apprehensive about what I might get with this video since some of the previous reviews were so widely varied. I found a little bit of both extremes to be true. The video was fun and different, and 40 minutes went by before I knew it. However, I workout daily, so the cardio wasn't too exhilirating. The steps are really fun to do and you can learn the basic ones really fast. But the other viewers are right: Kathy Smith's cueing stinks. The steps are too fast to follow if you're not familiar with dance terminology. And Kathy never breaks a sweat in her little pink twinset, which i find a little irritating. Great for a light workout or to polish up your Latin moves before a night of dancing, but not a heart-pumping workout for those familiar with aerobics or even jogging.
Rating: Summary: Fun Fitness Review: The live music, enthusiastic dancers, and Kathy Smith's motivating professionalism are a plus. Though I've found the more I do it the more likely I am to hit my aerobic zone, I think it's also important to get the word out that there's more to working out than just working up a sweat: I pop this tape in when I need to shake off the work day, get in tune with my body, and remember indoor exercise doesn't have to be drudgery.
Rating: Summary: My new favorite workout! Review: I have to disagree with the comments that say this is not a cardiovascular workout. After doing 15 minutes of the video my heart rate was up higher than it is when I go to the gym. I have been doing latin dancing for about 8 months, so I can easily follow the steps. But even if you're new to latin dance, I think that if you really *dance* instead of walking through the steps it is as much cardio as a beginner/intermediate could want. The best part is that it's a lot of fun!
Rating: Summary: This was fun. Review: This video was definitl FUN! . I didn't feel like I was getting a workout, but I found that if I did a "real" workout video, and then put this one in after, it was 20 mins. of Fun. I wouldn't recommend using ONLY this tape, but by combing it with other aerobic tapes, you will have a variety of effective and fun work outs.
