Summary: Great for adding new challenge to your pilates routine
Review: After doing yoga for a year and pilates for the last 5 months I have tried many new programs to compliment my routine and Denise's Pilates For Everybody was a good next step for me!! My core workout for 5 months has been Susan Deason's Pilates For Weightloss - A program I highly recommend for beginners! I lost 2 sizes using this program with a lo-carb diet, and the occasional addition of upperbody and cardio work.

Pilates For Everybody has an energizing warmup, and brings new challenge to familiar pilates movements using the resistence band. I was not aware when ordering I needed the band !! I'm not used to seeing Denise on a studio set, I wished this was filmed in a beautiful location. This program will have some very difficult movements for a beginner and not a lot of instruction for doing a less advanced version. The leg-work movements I've been doing on a mat, Denise does standing with a chair, which causes me a little more back strain. The final cool-down is more energizing than relaxing so overall this program is in my rotation for those high-energy days when I need more challenge.

Summary: Great exercise - annoying, over-talkative person
Review: I agree with everyone on this post. The workout is great and challenging, but she is SO annoying. I have to do the workout with her on mute. Unless you like some shrill, harsh little voice telling you "That's it" and "Let's see that beautiful smile" over and over, you will too. A resistance band is highly recommended, and is some nice soothing music to listen to over her. I would not recommend this to anyone who is just started with pilates. Unless you are a dancer or have been doing yoga or pilates for while, most of the moves will be too difficult to do and understand for someone who hasn't had any exposure to this kind of movement. Although they're on TV all the time and a little more expensive than most other DVDS, I think Winsor Pilates are the best. Everything is clearly explained and different levels of ability are addressed.

Summary: Not for beginners!
Review: I am unfortunately out of shape and have heard a lot about Pilates and thought I'd give this DVD a try. Well, it is rather fast paced and I do not recommend this DVD to someone who is a beginner. Denise Austin is way too cheerful and the camera switching angles gets rather annoying. However, I definitely felt the burn but did not feel "energized." I will continue to work out to this DVD in hopes that some day I can actually achieve her V position!

Summary: not for beginners
Review: I bought this DVD as a part of my new weight loss and fitness plan. I was somewhat familiar with the principles of Pilate, but I found that Denise Austin moved too quickly from one exercise to the next. She spent no time explaining the various positions and moved from a basic form to an advanced form in the blink of an eye. Even after watching the tape all the way through, I couldn't figure out what she was doing. This DVD may be suitable to people who are already very familiar with Pilates and correct form, but it's definitely not for beginners.

Summary: It's a love/hate thing
Review: I bought this dvd to expand my pilates library. I had never done a Denise Austin workout before, but knew that she was somewhat popular. At first, I truly hated this dvd. She talks the ENTIRE time, but she doesn't even really explain what she's doing. It's hard to follow her, and if this had been my first experience with pilates, I am sure I would not be interested in it at all.

So here's my dilemma - she's annoying as can be, but this dvd really did give me a good workout!!! And for that, I hate it...because now I think I have to forget the original plan of returning it, and keep it since it really did work me out well. I am figuring that after I've done it a few times, I will be able to go along with it, put replace her annoying talking with some nice music.

Bottom line: This is NOT my favorite workout dvd. I really enjoy The Crunch's Pick Your Spot Pilates and MTV's Yoga...I think my next purchase will be the MTV Pilates.

Summary: Ok for a Pilates tape
Review: I bought this tape thinking that Denise Austin has a good rep and would like to try pilates. I started the tape and the begining was great. Then we got to mat work. Most of the main workout involved a exercise band, which I didn't have. It didn't say anything about a exercise band on the box or I would have been delighted to get. But overall, the workout was VERY hard, for me being a beginner. I would reccomend it for an advanced pilates person WITH a band.

Summary: for pilates-experienced only
Review: I had never even seen Pilates before I bought this video, so I really didn't know what to expect....except for Denise Austin. When I was pregnant, she had the only pregnancy video out; I did that every day for my entire pregnancy and always felt terrific. At 6 weeks after birth, with doctor approval, I was ready to lose the weight (20 LBS from size 7 back to 4). I did so in three months with another Denise Austin video, Sizzler. She is fantastic! Unlike other videos, she gives you motiviation, makes you believe YOU CAN DO IT. She looks great and is a great teacher, going slow enough to pick up the routine in about two to three viewings. I have been going to the gym for the last 6 years, faithfully, working out 90 minutes a day for 5 days a week (cardio and weights). I have better results with Denise Austin videos.
This is an easy to follow video, but a great workout. THANKS AGAIN DENISE!
Okay, if you need one critical comment...often she says "okay, last one" or "just two more" and she keeps going while she's talking, giving advice. But after doing the video workout a couple of times, you know she's going to do that and you just keep going.
HIGH RECOMMENDATION!

Summary: Denise Austin Pilates for Every Body
Review: I have been doing pilates for quite a few years and I have found this cd to be really great!! Pilates is the only workout that works for me with results I can actually see!! I do however recommend that the beginning pilates student begin with Denise's first pilates DVD the Mat pilates. Otherwise you may find Pilates for Every Body is too fast paced, and difficult.

Summary: Excellent Full Body Workout In 45 Minutes!
Review: I LOVE this CD! I alternate this every other day with one of Denise Austin's other Pilates CD's (Mat Workout), also highly recommended. I especially like Denise's instruction...she's very much in tune with her body and health and it shows! I've read some mixed reviews about her personality, so I'd really like to add that I find her enthusiasm very genuine and inspiring! It's also encouraging that she's close to my own age (45) and is so physically fit. I think this is a super Pilates CD...I can feel results after only 3 sessions, and am much more aware of my posture during the day.
